In fairness to the officials (not only the good ones but also the ones who were clearly for the other team . . .) shouldn't there be a "Bad Spectating" thread to balance this out? Or has that discussion already been fully voiced and brought to an acceptable resolution . . . ?

I would love to know how we can get our AD involved in our wrestling program so that our kids can get a taste of this kind of atmosphere. You will always see him at the football/basketball games and you will see him use Twitter/Instagram but never goes to any wrestling events or mentions anything about wrestling. Hell, really the only state champs Indian Creek has seen were from the wrestling and swimming program, one person would think they would be proud of that.
With all due respect, he was at the county meet (just the county, not #THECOUNTY) because I talked to him.
He may be around more than you might think . . .

Thanks very much for starting this thread!

If Joe Lee had lost yesterday, the lights on the west side of Evansville would still be dimmed yet today . . .

It mentioned in the MD vs. Bloomington South thread that Joe Lee wrestled at 160 yesterday and went undefeated.

Heck, I was at a tourney last year and that old Coach Hasseman was reffing. My little knucklehead Mikey was wrestling and doing some kind of crazy stuff. He was only 5 and Hassman asked "Who is teaching this kid how to wrestle"? I pointed at Tonte. He just laughed. What a great coach you guys have. Wouldn't want to go through his workouts though.
Thank you. Coach Hasseman came to Franklin thirty years ago and accepted the challenge of building a program that to that point hadn't had very much success. Franklin is still not a very big high school (around 1,600) but his hard work (and, perhaps, hard head . . .) has paid off.
While there have been a few of his high school wrestlers (and maybe even a ref or two) that he has "gently nurtured" from the sidelines, it is a hoot to watch him with the little kids in Franklin's club.
I doubt he visits the forum much . . . His dial-up webernet thingy is probably too much of a hassle . . .

Actually, Burk wore Franklin's new singlet in his win against Warren earlier in the day, but for some reason opted to wear one of the older ones under the lights . . .
See, he may be a little old school too, like Coach Hasseman.
Speaking of Coach Hasseman, I imagine he spends more time caring about the wrestler in the singlet than the singlet on the wrestler...

I believe DJ Smith of Franklin Community took Red down in their first match at the Mater Dei Holiday Classic Red's freshman year.
-
Jacob Stevenson of Franklin Community is also undefeated in all three IHSWCA Team State Tournaments.

Franklin Super Six on Saturday 1/10 with Holt MI, Ben Davis, Jeffersonville, Triton Central and Yorktown.

Funny, it seemed like pretty much the same guys although both teams moved a few weights around. I say that Cathedral just lost some weights it shouldn't have this time. A few matches make a huge swing. I think the two teams could go back and forth any given day. Oh and the Stevenson- Harvey match had a different outcome although it was still an amazing, close match. Also can be a different result any day. Two good wrestlers!
Banged up in first match: Stevenson, Burnside (the one who wrestled with one arm), Reese (who wasn't able to wrestle after a match earlier in the day,) and Kriech.
Out: Jake Moore at 60.
Maligned asked for a reason for such a big swing in the scores, and I simply offered what I knew to be different this time around.
Perhaps you are right, though, that Cathedral simply just lost some weights they "shouldn't" have this time . . .
A lot of 'em . . .

How did Franklin have this big of a turnaround over Cathedral compared to a couple weeks ago?
Franklin had some kids banged up or out when they wrestled Cathedral at the Traicoff. This is the closest that their lineup has been to full strength all year.
-
Franklin's Quinn York was undefeated, and with five pins, I believe.
-
The Traicoff was a grueling first day of Stevenson's season . . .
Congratulations to Harvey in a hard-fought match, and to Portage for a well-deserved Traicoff team championship.
