  1. At evansville, who had a biggef day than Cayden Rooks? Beats Mills in the semis, then Asa in the final. What a day!
  2. Boe v cash was awesome boe is the very definition of bad post season draw
  3. On behalf on the Indianamat community, I think everyone recognizes what a special breed you and your Castle Wrestling Brothers are for having strapped on the singlet of the gods. furthermore, most, if not all, recognize your elevated cognive skills and social supioriority for choosing to live in Warrick county, rather than the crime infested rathole that is Vanderburgh county. I admire your troll-busting discernment that demands the appropriate point of reference. i do, however, feel like a bit of an outsider, as I do not know your true identity. Bruce Wayne? Peter Parker? Clark Kent?
  4. Blue bolt is expanding the range of topics of which he incessantly and incoherently rambles. Proud!
  5. Every couple of years, a fact check is required 106- Cole Ross attended Corpus Christi, wrestled for Mater Dei junior wildcats (mdjw) 113- Blake Boarman attended Corpus Christi, wrestled for mdjw. His father, pat was a sq for md 120- Kane Egli attended st Philip, wrestled for mdjw. Mom was a md grad 126- clay Egli. See Kane 132- Eli dickens was Home schooled! Did not attend a md feeder! 138- Matt Lee attended Corpus Christi. Wrestled in the feeder league. 145- Scott fits attended st Philip. Wrestled for mdjw 152- McCartney Parkinson attended st Philip. Wrestled for mdjw. His dad, Jeff, was an sq for md 160- Nolan Weidner attended st joe and wrestled for mdjw. Mom and dad are md grads 170- Blake chandler attended west side catholic and wrestled for mdjw 182- will Schuler attended resurrection and wrestled for mdjw. Mom and dad are md grads 195- Robbie Helfrich attended st Philip and wrestled for mdjw. Mom and dad are md grads 220- Michael boots attended resurrection and wrestled for mdjw. Dad was a 2x sq for md. Boots family is in the Indiana wrestling hall of fame. 285- Roman graves attended st Philip and wrestled for mdjw md’s entire coaching staff graduated from md. Rather than drawing talent from the public schools, in evansville, memorial and Mater Dei actually supply the public schools. There are scores of examples where Kid’s grew up in the md or mhs feeder league and ended up wrestling, at a varsity level, for the public schools.
  6. A perfect storm: a top notch coach, big school in a growing and prosperous area, wrestling-friendly administration and a superior academy in your back yard
  7. I like Willis. At the siac meet, he was one of the most impressive finalists. He was not as sharp at the regional. I noticed a sizable wrap on his arm
  8. Of course he did not get Matt lees draw in 2017...Lee beat him for the regional title!
  9. That’s right. You have to notify the ref. upchuck protocol.
  10. Cash took a tough loss in the first round last year. this year, he gets boe in the ticket round. That’s a guy no one wants in the post season!
  11. This match had it all! I follow Penn State's wrestling board; even those drunk on the Nittany Whiskey didn't give PSU much of a chance without Nolf in the line up. I thought Kuhn did an awesome job. When he gets in match shape, look out. I don't understand the decision to put Lee down in the second. He had a fairly difficult time getting out in the first period. Next time around, if McKenna has to battle Nick from his feet, i think there will be a different outcome. The Zain train keeps rolling. Best get out of the way. I thought that Hall and Jordan would be the match of the night. They did not disappoint. I loved Hall's emotion and post-match interview. Well...I was wrong. Nickal and Martin was match of the night. How about Bo producing buzzer-beating back points in what proved to be the determination of the meet winner? Wrong one more time. Cassar comes in and hangs the "L" on undefeated Kollin Moore. If you are a Buckeye fan, you are livid over Moore's non-performance. Nevills may have produced one of the "best" losses in PSU history, holding all-everything Kyle Snyder to a decision. Snyder was exhausted. Give Penn State, Iowa and Ohio State's message boards a peek. There are lots of Cael Sanderson critics out there. Did you know that Cael is a terrible match coach, and cannot develop wrestlers? He has only won 6 of the last 7 national titles. Imagine what PSU could do if Sanderson knew how to coach! I am thankful I do not hear that insanity on a high school level...
  12. The police were looking for the guy that went behind the bleachers instead of the restroom. consider yourself turned in.
  13. The lower-level of North’s gym is not of an optimal angle for viewing wrestling. To worsen the matter, table help and folks milling around interrupt the view. If you go the upper tier, there is still vision obstruction and you are VERY far away from the action. Castle’s gym is far superior; there are no bad seats. The table help struggled during the first round, but worked out the kinks as the day progressed. I’m not sure what was up with the loooooong break at the end of the first round. BTW- If you are at the end of your life, I suppose listening to U2 ballads and “Something in the Air” by Phil Collins is good to listen to while you are waiting for the morphine to kick in. To keep the adrenaline pumping for a high stakes wrestling match—not so much. Down a flight of stairs, across the gym, down another flight of stairs and a 2-minute walk and you are in the restroom! Check that, you are not! You are in a line to use a restroom that was overwhelmed, filthy and smelled as if Satan had died there. I have been to Castle for many, many tournaments. Never have I waited in line, nor were the facilities in disrepair. The only saving grace was the North volunteers. All of the folks I encountered were friendly and there to help. Weighing all factors, North is a pale comparison to a Castle-hosted event. Castle gets an “A”; North gets a “D+”. Thank you, IHSAA, for diminishing our regional.
  14. Revenge, domination and thrilling finales punctuated the Evansville North Regional. Let’s get to work! 106- Heritage Hills’ Sam Scott is no longer off the radar. The salty scrambler gave Mater Dei’s Cole Ross all he wanted plus some. Ross was able to score a last-second escape to win, 8-7. 113- Mater Dei’s freshman phenom Blake Boarman ran his season record to 30-0 and recorded his third win, in dominating fashion, over Castle’s Devon Casebolt. Boarman scored an early takedown and stayed on the accelerator, winning 9-0. 120- Mater Dei’s Kane Egli survived an upset bid in the semifinal. In a sectional final redux, Egli beat Central’s Cameron Amento 10-2 for his second regional title. 126- Not to be outdone by little brother, Clay Egli scored a 3-2 title win over Castle’s Carson Willis. A cat and mouse match, Willis went for a throw that Egli turned into “two”. 132- Another replay of the sectional final where Mater Dei’s Eli Dickens ran past Central’s Brayden Bethe, 13-4, to collect regional title number two. 138- Mater Dei Sophomore Matt Lee held off a feisty Matt Kincaid to win 6-4 and claim his second regional title. 145- Freshman Scott Fitts scored a third period takedown to make it 7-in-a-row for the ‘Cats. That was his third win of the season over Castle’s Jacob Freeman. 152- Few in the building had a tougher road to the top of the podium than Castle’s Robert Deters. The sophomore had to fend off North Posey’s Levi Miller, in double overtime, in order to advance to the final and face Mater Dei’s Macartney Parkinson. In an exciting chess match, Deters made an escape stand up for a 1-0 victory. 160- Gibson Southern’s Clay Singleton sloughed off his sectional loss to Mater Dei’s Nolan Weidner and earned a 6-4 victory. 170- North Posey’s Colton Gamblin continued to impress, registering two 6-0 wins and a pin en route to his title march over county rival, Mt Vernon’s Luke McGennis. 182- It looked like Castle’s Will Nunn was going to end Central’s Kiave Guerrier’s unbeaten season. Nunn kept the match close and scored at the end of regulation to send it to overtime. Appearing to be gassed, Guerrier came off the hash mark like a scalded cat and scored the winning takedown three seconds into the extra stanza. 195- The thrills kept coming as Castle’s Will Rolley and Reitz’s Andrew Koonce squared off. Down 4-2 in the second, Koonce landed a throw, put Rolley to his back…pin! Boom went the dynamite. 220- Mater Dei’s Michael Boots registered a first period ankle pick over Memorial’s Alex Lichlyter and never looked back, cruising to a 5-2 win. 285- Vincennes’ Spencer York and Mater Dei’s Roman Graves reprised their sectional final in thrilling fashion. In overtime Graves got in on a shot and TWO…no--York gets around and is awarded the takedown. Great match; I would like another look at the last sequence. Mater Dei scored 229 points while Castle was second with 136.5
  15. Unfortunately, you are correct. Boonville is a program that seems to have vital factors in place that could move them to the next level: enthusiastic coaches, vibrant youth program and usually full lineups. Every year, you see Bbonville kids come into the regional with great records and get knocked out early. if boonville upgrade their schedule, make a couple of tweaks, they would quickly become a factor.
  16. I once knew a guy that tore his rotator cuff from chronic self back-patting
  17. I’ve watched asa for a while. He has never struck me as a kid that is wanting for motivation. Mills is really good. High stakes.
  18. Blue bolt- how about your knights busting out the robes? How long were they in storage?
  19. this belongs in the “advanced 13 to regional” thread
  20. I, too, wish them well. The problem is that I do not view the regional as an experiment lab. Let north take over the central sectional, have a great couple of years then give them a crack at the regional.
