  1. Johnny, You said it best- when you assume, you make an ass out of yourself. Don't assume that everyone that said that McMurray showed a lack of class is jealous, "a hater on their fellow region school Portage", or ignorant for not trying to get to know McMurray on a personal basis. I am sorry we cannot call up Sean and take him to Applebees for his achievements and talk over a nice meal- some of us have to base our opinions of people off of the actions they show in public and their lack of respect for their fellow teammates. Everyone gets on here and uses the same response over and over- "I know Sean and he wouldn't be disrespectful". Well, then let me throw this out there- I know Bash513 and know him very well. Its safe to say that no one knows him better and I doubt he spends his time hating on Portage from his years in high school but hey, if thats what you want to assume, well you know what that makes you. No one is taking anything away from Sean McMurray, his accomplishments, his three state titles, or his wins- all people were saying was that it was not the classiest thing to do and be honest with yourself, it wasn't; however, it is not the worst thing in the world that he did either. He did not throw punches or spit in someone's face, he just simply had some premature celebration during a match- end of story. People can say an action shows a lack of good sportsmanship without being a "hater", jealous, or without seeking revenge on Portage high school from their glory days at Brickie Bowl. People can also be happy for McMurray, his family, and Portage and still feel the same way about his 3 finger salute.
  2. Whether he thought Willis conceded the match is not the point- the point is that the match was still going on, he was on top of his opponent, and he did not wait until the buzzer went off to celebrate which showed a lack of respect for his opponent. I'll accept an "agree to disagree" on this one. Congrats to McMurray for his accomplishments and hopefully he learns some respect on the mat.
  3. He didn't disrepect me or really anyone on this message board so I guess he is "all I wanted him to be". It was disrespectful to his opponent and just showed a lack of good sportsmanship. I'm sorry you're tired of people bashing on him but its not like people are making rude comments for no reason- there is some justification behind the "bashing" and again, nothing is being taken away from his accomplishments, as it shouldn't.
  4. I think people have admitted that they don't know Sean as well as you do especially since you are his brother. With that said, people can only base their opinion of him off of his actions and attitude- you can't blame people for thinking he is an amazing wrestler that deserves respect for being a 3 time state champion but needs a bit of help on sportsmanship. Whether you win state for the first time, two times, three times, or even four, you can have a good attitude and wait to celebrate until after your match or do so in a classy way. People are not taking anything away from his accomplishments and are just stating the fact that he showed bad sportsmanship. Nothing wrong with that.
  5. people hate on mcmurray for his piss poor attitude and not for his wrestling ability. he deserves respect as a 3 time state champion wrestler but he doesn't exactly deserve a mental attitude award. i agree about the holding up the 3 fingers during the match- dumb move.
  6. Okay well I'll say it since no one else will.. it wasn't the best version of the song that I have heard but she definetly has more guts than me. I would never sing in front of a crowd of thousands and I am sure she knows it was not her best performance. No need to say much more than that.
  7. I completely agree. Regardless of your view on what should have happened, boo'ing him on the podium and when he was announced was classless.
  8. I didn't realize I was writing one of my law school papers. I thought you could understand my post without proper capitalization. If you want to get technical, you had a run-on sentence without a period. Can we please get back to talking about wrestling? I am about to PERUSE another website to talk about wrestling if we don't.
  9. Now you know. Want to see my trophy? It even has a little bee on the top.
  10. usually, if you are going to insult someone, you use correct grammar. peruse means to scrutinize or read carefully so i highly doubt you meant to say that he reads girls. so please, spell words correctly- eric galka did not leave to PURSUE any girl and has had the same girlfriend since high school. eric left for personal reasons that are not your, my, or anyone else's concern. why dont you focus on this year's wrestlers and spelling words. thanks.
  11. Your questions contains the answer... it was stopped due to a potentially dangerous situation not because of injury or blood time. and it wouldn't have mattered if the wrestler got 4 pts anyways becuz the other one would have gotten 1 pt from the ilegal hold correct? No, because the hold is not illegal... at least not in this situation. The match was stopped due to a potentially dangerous situation, thus no penalty point would be awarded.
  12. Frankie was awarded the following points in order (i think) 1 -- Escape 1 -- Fleeing the mat 1 -- Stalling 1 -- Cautions Spencer got only an escape.
  13. although i was pulling for wright, it was a tough call about the stalling calls. on one hand, it is an advantage to the guy on the bottom to get to restart. but on the other hand, if a wrestler is coming up and out and you put a leg in, its an easy way to get back in control. it was a great match between two great wrestlers and this year, it was eppert's turn.
  14. How exactly should he have beaten him? He is a great wrestler no doubt about that but at what point during the match was frankie not in control? Norton had one takedown but Porras controlled the entire rest of the match. I dont think this match was really ever in doubt.
  15. That's pretty bold... many thought the same thing about Galka, Raley, and Harper. This just goes to show how difficult a feat this actually is. It would seem that "tiny t-shirts" would have a pretty good chance as he has done it at a lower middle weight rather than 103 or 112. The growth process can be tough for many who start at these weights. Both are outstanding wrestlers and should be given all the credit in the world but lets not get too far ahead.
  16. i agree.. one of the best matches of the night and a great victory for culver!
  17. young and mcginley, eppert and wright, and porras and spencer were all great matches. wish wright could have pulled it off!
  18. just want to say congrats to frankie porras on his first state title at 130!
  19. good luck to everyone this weekend- especially frankie porras at 130!
  20. bash513 and thatonefan with frankie porras
