  1. dont ya just love just having this conversation.... CJ has left and will leave his mark on the state of indiana wrestling. the list of 4 timers and 3 timers are stud filled and there are fond memories of all. i did notice one thing tho in a remark about humphreys beating howe. this was humps sr yr and howes freshman yr. does that make a difference ? not really or does it? just like cj and nick lee a poster stated they will not be the same wt. this also reminds me of hump and angel both going the same wt all the way up until sectional if my memory serves correct before hump went up a wt to avoid what would have been the match of the century at that time. the sight I adore.....
  2. I always wore sweat pants with pockets and a Tshirt reppin the team. Just in case I had to help a wrestler warm up or show him something that caught my eye. In the parade of champions look decent but when on the floor no. Now there is a line to be drawn tho. I dnt think a coach with a purple mohawk and them big Gage ?arings in each ear and a leather jacket with tassles and grungy jeans is appropriate. But that's just me and because I dnt have a leather jacket...
  3. In folkstyle what I've noticed alot is that the losing wrestler doesnt force the action. He knows he's losing and there is no or maybe a slight up in his effort. Force a stall call. Make it even more obvious that the other wrestler is stalling. When i coached, I taught this and preached this. The Losing wrestler has to force the action. He has to up his pace. Thats his responsability..If the losing wrestler either walks or runs opponent of the mat a few times, makes it look obvious, the ref has no choice but to call it.
  4. Hey those grass stained tennis shoes were armani originals. that was just the print of the shoe.... If you were a fashionista like coach Harmon you woulda known that... Semper Fi
  5. Congrats Mr Stein. that target was on your back all yr and you did what did what you needed to do and did it well. Thanks for a heck of a career and good luck at purdue......
  6. first and formost......congrats to both the boys.. Both fine young men and outstanding wrestlers.. Both have brought alot of wins and joy to their schoools and the southern indiana area. As far as the hatred toward Mater Dei, I dont think the hate is towards the kids. For me, good wrestling is good wrestling. No matter the uniform.. I really hate to believe thats the case. Its more toward the obnoxious people in the stands wearing the mater dei attire. since they do bring the numbers they can get louder than most. And with any school theres always those obnoxious people in th stands, Mater Dei just seems to have a few more than most schools. Combining their success (which breeds obnoxiousness) , their superiority in numbers, and the trips out to the car between matches, they get more animated the longer the day gets. I've seen the MD crowd boo rival kids, curse rival kids. I'd say 90% of the MD crowd are good to go. I've had a few barley pops in the parking lot with several and they seem to be alright. But theres that few that spoil the bunch..
  7. I think the way I said it makes a better story. No need to mess it up with little stuff like facts... How ya doin CB semper fi george williams
  8. I think a wildeman from mater dei was never even varsity till his Sr year. I may be mistaken though
  9. @ CEwrestling fan. I'm just happy to keep my dog off the companies leg. Lol
  10. I dnt have a dog in the fight or race. But I do have a mean tabby cat and two killer ferrets. Lol. Just the thread we needed..... To all who have their dogs I. The fight this weekend. Roof roof. Good luck..
  11. @ charger dad. Yes indeed. And to face 8 grade twice... I dnt see how I could handle it. Especually now. Ps3 xbox computers. Cell phones. What else is stressing these kids out?
  12. Ok. This has become a very interesting read to say the least. I saw one where they were talking academics. If they are failing academically, wredtki g should be thast thing on a parents mind. If they are doing well in school I see no reason to hold em back. That's just me tho. The ones who held the kids back before they started school I can see that. As far as the puberty thing, I'd like to see the percentages of parents doi g this I. 8th that do not wrestle. I weighed 90lbs my 9th grade year. Not sure if I had any hair anywhere. But I'm sure everything else was in working order. Lol. The person talking about pressure in middle school.. What pressure? These kids are what 13 or 14. There is no pressure. Wake up eat cereal go school and wrestling practice. Come home do some chores go party and try to pick up honeys... I wish I could go back and rough the pressures of 8 grade..
  13. arent they supposed to be 18 yourtheir sr yr?
  14. I love the mater dei/reitz fans relationships. theres a definite a strong hate there.. I've seen family members, one family going to reitz/ the other to MD ready go out back and handle things the old fashion way over a reversal at the end of the third period.
  15. yea top three from sectional top three at state. but that is a heck of an accomplishment tho..... and what would be real cool is if there was a different winner at each level sectional regional semistate and state. wheres the elder????
  16. Ive never understood so called parents and other adults coming on sites like these and talking bad about kids. These Im guessing are the same "adults" that are booing these kids after they wrestled or standing up on the podium. Sometimes they boo the officials and the calls, ok still that 15-17 yr old kid is out there hearing the boos. he's not out there thinking oh its not me its the ref on that call i shouldnt have got. lol Hats off to all the wrestlers who got lucky.... all who shouldnt have made it but did, all the wrestlers who are going to state even tho a so called better wrestler had a bad draw and isnt going... Thats whats great about this sport. thats why you go out and wrestle. I've been involved in wrestling for a very long time and have not met a kid yet who deserves to be booed or talked bad about after they put their all out on the mat and came out with a win..Ive seen some with piss poor attitudes after a loss, throwing head gear and not wanting to shake the opp hand, but thats more a reflection on their coach and parents.. . If they knew their coach/parents werent gonna tolerate it, they wouldnt do it. oh well good luck this week at state lets do some damage up at conseco... george williams
  17. @wrestler 60160 im with your logic...... lol @CPdogs. I can understand your situation. especially with the late birthday. My thinkin is this... If it werent for the sport of wrestling would this even be brought up? With him only weighing 85 lbs as an 8th grader him wrestling in college where the lowest wt class is 125. is gonna be hard. Not impossible but hard. Good luck in your decision.. and goods luck to your son
  18. has any top three of a sectional taken the top three spots at state? now i guess it can be top 4......
  19. So your telling me PARENTS are purposely holding their kid back a yr for the sole purpose of wrestling? I love this sport to death and have been involved in it for over 35 yrs but trust me its not that important. I have heard this done in the past but never really looked into it. Im lost and just askin questions. Ok is it mostly wrestlers who may be too small for 103 their freshman yr?
