  1. very nice article. I do appreciate the job david jackson has done this year.
  2. i would suggest Shapiros deli if they are open...awesome corned beef, new york style.
  3. by the way, Mayor Weinzapfel actually grew up on the west side as his padre still lives there.
  4. I think the castle wrestlers and coaches took it in stride when the WHOLE gym cheered when Greismer won. I think it was the castle fans that flew off the handle and even then, it was just a few plus the students. In their defense, it was unexpected and they didn't know how to react.
  5. I'm counting on Session 3 in evansville not starting until 2:00 p.m. I think you will see the finals and 3/4 start closer to 5:00 p.m., which still isn't too late.
  6. beachbum is correct...not taking into account for pins...round 1 should be double what it used to be. right? I believe it usually lasts two hours so by my calculations, it should double to 4 hours. now, taking into account pins, because there should be more pins for a 1 vs. 4, we'll take off 20 minutes. so the quarterfinals should start 3 hours and 40 minutes after round 1.
  7. I don't know what happened to Kolb but I heard he was out of the semi state and the alternate was in. This should really help Stein's chances of winning.
  8. Kuhn at 103 has a good shot of winning state. 119 - raley and johns has a shot but i don't see anyone beating wright. 160 - Runyan - definitely the best chance. 215 - Robison has a chance, i doubt anyone is going to out muscle him.
  9. First off, its a sign that Castle is on top when all the other teams are cheering when they lose, although, for some reason it was only during the 112 match in the finals, i didn't see anything else happen during the other matches. maybe everyone was cheering because it was a good match, or maybe since the guy that left who was not in any way connected with either mater dei or castle or princeton had left and wasn't around. honestly, i thought coach harmon actually was laughing about it all, in a way, i think it proves to him that castle is on top right now, which they are. I would like to think that next week at semi-state we can all cheer for our regional whether its reitz, castle, MD, princeton, etc.
  10. Stein is the real deal, but not a state champ this year...possibly the next two or at least his senior year. With the exception of a few fans i did enjoy the castle-vs.-MD rivalry, it at least spiced some things up. on the other hand, there are a few that need to realize this is HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS. overall, a good day of wrestling and great sportsmanship by the wrestlers.
  11. overall i see this as a down year. will there be any state champs from this semi-state?
  12. I like AWOOD's response....totally agree.
  13. Both Schools...I REPEAT BOTH SCHOOLS had some idiots in the stands, young and old. I think most teams have these. All in all I think Castle deserves to celebrate for a great win and I think most MD fans want Castle to win it all. Good luck to Castle and MD this weekend as well as all of the SIAC teams.
  14. who's to say that castle isn't the number 2 seed and P.M. is the number 3? or vice versa?
  15. wouldn't his weigh-ins from FL count? or did he not have any from FL?
  16. stein will win at 152. i'll take all bets on that.
  17. you are correct about jeff. no doubt, castle is the favorite but if md can pull out a couple of pins and an upset at either 135, 145 or 152 then they might be able to pull an upset.
