  1. Even as a CP fan, I don't blame you for calling that guy out. He's a lone wolf. That is not CP's style. Good job by the Cavemen and good luck to all the teams in the semis and finals.
  2. I think Merrillville and Portage will be good as always. Barring a complete void of talent or numbers, quality programs will produce quality teams. I also think Munster could be a team to watch next season. They have a good thing going over there. Simply put, the Region will be competitive next year like it always is.
  3. He also beat Brandon Wright that season. He did, however, have a loss.
  4. Don't mean to get all conspiracy theory here, but why would the Times not ask McMurray to wrestle in it? I thought the policy was always to ask the most accomplished senior, which McMurray is by far. And it's not like they can say they just made an oversight, because that would be a pretty big oversight. I don't know, maybe it's not worth harping on, but it just seems really odd to me.
  5. Roach won pretty easily. Don't remember the exact breakdown of scoring, but I think all of Sims' points came from escapes. I believe Roach had 3 takedowns.
  6. Yeah but Schurg is scheduled to wrestle in it and he will wrestle on Saturday.
  7. Amen, brother. I am from CP and I was really disappointed to see this brought up and wanted to give my opinion, but you pretty much just said it for me. I am also happy to see that not as many people this year are badmouthing CP for this as in years past.
  8. He has one close match and you're saying this? He did major decision his undefeated opponent in the semi-finals, Mullins, who most people were thinking would be the better of the two between him and Jackson. I don't know Tsirtsis personally, but I bet he will be working his tail off this offseason to get better and I do not see any reason why he wouldn't be the "clear cut" favorite to win it again next year as long as he does so.
  9. I have a feeling Mishawaka is always going to be competitive. Don't know the particulars of who they have coming back, but my bet would be they have a great team again next year.
  10. Wrong. I do not assume anything. You're going to be thirsty after a match even if you are not cutting an ounce. What I am saying is just one of the many reasons this would not work for a tournament. Think about this: you have a 3 mat tournament, you're going to have to have 3 scales--one for each mat. If you know anything about scales you know they're not going to be consistent. Furthermore, these scales are going to be stepped on hundreds of times in a day, which is going to mess up their calibrations. Finally, if you did this at tournaments you would literally have kinds going to check their weight constantly, which would distract them from the matter at hand.
  11. Yes it will. What do you think happens when you eat food, drink water, and go to the bathroom?
  12. Sounds like a good idea, until you really think about it. How would it work in tournaments? Would you only weigh in in the morning, or before every match? It couldn't be before every match, because the human body naturally fluctuates around 5 pounds a day. Also, what happens if you are really thirsty after a match and you have another one in a couple hours? You wouldn't be able to drink that much because your body is not going to process it and flush it out before the next match. A bottle of water weighs over a pound itself. There were sometimes when I would guzzle 2-3 pounds of water after a match. Therefore, in tournaments a wrester would be faced with a choice: either don't drink or eat anything between matches or do and then have to cut weight before your next match. I do think the idea would work well in single dual meets, though.
  13. How many times have Hawkins and Nelson wrestled? I know it's been quite a few. What's their record against each other? If I am not mistaken, I think Hawkins has the edge. And it's not like Hawkins has gotten worse. Bradley is just really good, and big and strong. I think Hawkins beats Nelson and makes it into the finals. From there, well, fourth time's a charm!
  14. You can't just weigh wrestlers in at random weights, can you? They have to be certified, right? Are Schurg and Renn certified at those weights? I could be totally wrong. It just seems right.
  15. I know you didn't mean to say that, but that's just funny. You must have had lunch on your mind. Haha!
  16. Roach looked awesome! I thought this was going to be close, but Roach was definitely superior on his feet and he didn't even allow Surma to get started on top.
  17. Great story!! Hopefully he will encourage others to follow in his footsteps and we'll begin to see more Gary wrestlers making some noise.
  18. Yep, you know you're in Indianapolis, or I should say "Indanaples," when you hear "seme" state. Haha! I'm just kidding Indy folk. Don't hate. I love the Hoosier Heartland.
  19. Hope the wrestlers are being smart and watching what they eat and working out while they are off school so they can make weight on Saturday.
  20. You obviously cannot read. What I said was the region would stack up against any other area whose top 3 teams were also taken away, not that the region is better with its top 3 teams taken away than any other area at full strength. Also, the whole Mishawaka thing has been debated before and you are just wrong. Mishawaka has nothing in common with any place in the region. Please don't challenge me on this anyone because this has been debated over and over and I don't want to do get back into it, and I don't think anyone else wants to read about it either.
  21. Exactly what I was thinking. Everyone is trying--quite well, I might add--to show how good the region still is without its current top teams, but you don't even have to do that. Take away any area's top teams and the quality is going to go down significantly. I will say this, though: Take away the current top 3 in the region (Merr., CP, Port.) and I think what you have left would dominate any other area with its top 3 taken away. This just shows that ColtFan's argument is completely ridiculous. (By the way, I doubt he's really from the region if he's a Colts fan . . . hahaha!!)
  22. I have faith that Hawkins will win when it really counts.
  23. I wrestled in the DAC. We were required to wrestle every other team in the conference in a night dual, which added up to be 7 weeknight duals. We never had any extraordinary problems with making weight. If you can't make weight twice in a week, then you should probably move up a class. Super duals are killing wrestling. Unless it's the Traicoff or Bellmont or maybe a couple other ones out of the hundreds across the state, super duals are incredibly boring. Why would any casual fan, who doesn't have a kid wrestling, come to sit through a super dual? Night duals are so much more exciting and fan friendly. But I do agree at the very least that if you're not going to increase weeknight duals you should at least change super duals to regular individual tournaments. With individual tournaments, the casual fan can just come for the finals and see some really good wrestling while only having to be there for a couple hours. Finally, as a wrestler, I didn't much like the one or two super duals that we competed in. Five matches in a day is a lot and by the fifth dual there was no intensity and everyone was just going through the motions.
  24. I wouldn't mind it being changed from Merrillville as long as it stayed in the region. No Lafayette, no South Bend. I think people should realize that Merrillville is only bad for the first two rounds. After that, it's plenty big enough for even the fattest among us to find a roomy spot. I also realize that the first two rounds are very important, but I didn't want people who haven't been there for a while and might be planning to come watch the semis and the finals to be scared away.
