  1. Largest guy for his weight I've ever seen in any weight class. He was supposedly benching easily over 400 while wrestling 215. At age 18. Just not right at all.
  2. Why? I thought the participating teams in a Hall of Fame or IHSWCA team tournament got a weigh-in exemption? If the dates being considered are over the early holiday period when no one has events scheduled, why would participating teams have to be announced ahead of time without the benefit of knowing which kids are truly back?
  3. Missed one: Goshen 40, SB Riley 30
  4. I read that they're going to do whatever wacky stuff they have to in making their schedule work--including teams playing 3 consecutive nights on as many as 3 occasions. I'm sure this is because they're locked into scheduling around concerts and other contracted special events at all arenas. I'm not worried.
  5. Something small: just noticed the normal notation (145) isn't next to Faurote's name in the important wins column for Jackson.
  6. Lake Central wins the tournament (9-0), Harrison 8-1, Goshen 7-2, Gavit 6-3, Riley 5-4 Goshen dual results: Goshen 54 Columbus North 21 Goshen 22 Lake Central 44 Goshen 30 Lafyette Harrison 42 Goshen 54 Angola 15 Goshen 56 Hammond Gavit 13 Goshen 75 Greensburg 6 Goshen 69 Fair Haven 3 Goshen 60 Prarie Heights 12
  7. Well said. I absolutely believe each person should make the college choice that is right for him/her and their family--others will get over it.
  8. If you look at a list of the top 10 kids at each weight each year, almost all of them go to Division 1 schools. When the Number 1 kid in the country is from your backyard and decides not to go to a Division 1 school, it's natural to be inquisitive about his plans. This isn't somehow banging on his choice or banging on a program. It's just normal curiosity. Jarred and Travis and the Keiffers will face some of the top talent in the country during their four years--no doubt. Quiroga and Eppert will see it much more, however. That's just the nature of the college climate.
  9. I've always had great respect for Coach Ester, and I think everyone's excited about the up and coming program. Also, informed people know you can get a very good education at Tech. These things were never in question. I think there's just some curiosity from fans since the wrestling cultural norm is to go to a D1 school when you have Brooks' credentials. He seems to be taking a road slightly less traveled, but I say more power to him if it's right for him and his future.
  10. Did MMA aspirations play into this also? Guys with MMA hopes probably look at success stories like Ben Henderson and Shane Carwin and assume that NAIA wrestling is sufficient for what they want athletically--then make their university decision based on academics, finances, and location (not potential national or Olympic wrestling notoriety).
  11. I'm pretty sure other posts said he's out for awhile. His return date and weight class are unknown (I think).
  12. I didn't recognize him at first without his mask.
  13. I would take that over "our team went 2-3 and Billy was champ at 145." Team scores are at least a start. Individuals when at all possible is even better.

    UFC 139

Nice job, smooth. You got the 2 I went against you in close decisions and also the 4 we agreed on.
  15. Some duals results are missing from these tournaments: Chesterton brownsburg lafayette jeff lake station cma SB clay New Castle Daleville boonville batesville bluffton
  16. I heard he had some bad chicken and pooped an egg...or some bad eggs that made his poop look chicken-ish. Don't remember which.
  17. GC filled 11 weights and got 7th out of 10 teams in the meet.
  18. Except that a few schools have a "Varsity 2" that goes to mostly varsity meets--not JV meets. My point was that if more and more teams are doing this, why should it matter if GC sends a competitive JV team to an event while its varsity goes to a meet it has attended for many seasons?
  19. Many schools have a "Varsity 2" that they send to varsity events with a full or nearly full team. Why is it so horrendous that GC sent teams to two separate events? Why are they different from others that do the same? I honestly don't know the situation, but this is a normal practice.
  20. I guess that was GC's second team that wrestled the Hurrle tournament on Saturday? The Genius ratings had GC pegged as a surprise Top 20 team, but none of their returnees wrestled and they got 7th place. Please tell me this was the second team.
