  1. ??? I am not as imformed as I need to be. Would the athlete be part of a school team or could they enter as an independent. Most of my experience with homeschooled kids is in Driver Education. They are usually ahead in knowledge, but behind in social skills.
  2. I see no reason to be called "imop". Tournaments have been held up by table help meeting and officials meetings, etc. The pairing room is ready before the tournament committee many times. Can I pair at matside, yes. Do I prefer a quiet room, yes. Do I officiate, yes. Are there problems ,yes. The Rochester HYWA meet was held up by no shows. It happens With matside, the time between matches rule is many times ignored. This could lead to cancelled insurance. I really hope all of you commenting pair, officiate, weigh in, do awards, hang walll charts or something. otherwise, as they say, you are part of the problem. Besides if you are active the day may be a more positive experience. Don't say "I coach my kids", without those of us that work the meet your kid has nowhere to wrestle. A traveling tournament committee was thought of 30 years ago.
  3. I feel that it will hit sports like cross country or swimmming more. I feel that a can of worms will be opened if a home schooled kid gets to enter the sectional and a second string school wrestler does not get to compete.
  4. Every line bracket tournament I've worked has had at least one parent: a. Show up late, with a bus load b. not come at all after home weigh ins c. fill the paper work in improperly (Like wrong age) d. "What no true second, I only lost once!" I like matside but see themerits of vertical pairing
  5. Our prayers go out to the entire Friedt family. The future wrestlers need your guidence just like the older ones did. Get well soon. Gin and Sam Davis Triton Wrestling
  6. I have been a coach and official for many years. A very knowledgeable coach once told me. I did not notice you today, which means you did a good job. I still attend many matches a year and usually could not tell you what the coaches were wearing. I might tell you the ones that complain constatly, the facilities that are fan friendly, the wrestlers that compete hard and clean, and maybe the coach that will not shake hands after the meet. A good coach is probably not noticed that much. I much prefer jeans if I'm getting on a work out mat to explain between rounds. PS The NE football fans don't seem to mind!
  7. ;D It was neat seeing kids have fun. Hard fought matches, have fun together and then more hard fought matches. That is what wrestling is all about. Nice jobs wrestlers and Rochester administration for allowing the true high school attitude show through the seriosness.
  8. >:(Oh No! Karl, Your not using logic again! Don't you remember what your mother used to say about using logic. Fo shame, Fo shame
  9. Jimtown and Knox are the only schools not playing in the Bi-county BB tourney. A rotation was suggested a few years ago and nobody wanted it. Jimtown does a good job. Mr. Sharpe and Marty run a nice tournament.

  18. 15 teams, 51 - 8 man brackets, each wrestler 3 matches, 4 mats, out by 4:30. Well run meet. Good job.
  19. Be careful out there Karl! It could get dangerous. The key is currently. As an old person I seem to recall Muncie South, Delta, Belmont being the kings. Then MD, so things seem to revolve with time. Bloomington was king when I started. Hey AE do you have any thoughts?
  20. How about the Dolly's with three. The middle was the most intense, I will not say who was best. I've had two recently not come out saying people will expect to much from me, expecting my to be as good as my family, brother, cousins, uncle. Bad situation but true.
  21. Keep that up and we'll run till coach gets tired!
  22. I have read year after year about class and classless wrestling. As the tournaments progress workout partners become more important. How about a rule that allows a school with, maybe, three or less competitors left be allowed to practice with other schools in a similar situation. We have 4 schools in the area that fit this criteria with none in the same weight class? I know the wording would be difficult, but could be worked out. I believe that Michigan has this.
  23. ??? How do we justify pay to play when over 50% are on a free or reduced lunch program. >:(I believe that most ECA activities will be either privatly funded or eliminated. >:(Schools will soon be the old 3 r's with no or few electives ;D Maybe I'll retire by then.
  24. :-[The Knox SD for 1-9-10 has been snowed out. Teams were Winamac, Chesterton, Knox, Glenn, Triton, and CMA. No make up date currently selected.
  25. Did Marcicelli and Manbo wrestle? Results and weight. Thanks
