  1. Tim Nosko in 1992?? from MD got pinned in a spladdle. Not only was it a number 4 but also an alternate to state. Tim was undefeated his senior year.
  2. The 2006 team had horrible draws at semi-state. MD had 5 wrestlers in the ticket round that got beat by either state champs or runner ups. Plus Nick Dewig was DQed in the ticket round. The next year, they took 10 to state.
  3. I was also glad to hear the MD cheering section during the finals. That brings me back to MSA when the fans would get rowdy.
  4. How about Evansville North finishing second in the SIAC?
  5. It was the mid 90’s when Levell and Maldonado went at it under the lights. I just remember it was back to back years with each one taking a win.
  6. It’s going to be a toss up. CP and Brownsburg have a lot of talent down low and might pick each other off early. MD has a totally different lineup than usual. They are strong from 145 to 285. Of course MD has a few down low to score points, CP has a few upper weights. It will be an exciting year for sure.
  7. I would assume Critchfield would beat him out.
  8. I can see Sollars, Bauman, and Critchfield in the finals. Hayhurst, May, Seng, Egli, could make the semifinals or better and Schafer and Ralph could score points. It all depends on draws and how they all develop throughout the year. Going to be an exciting year of wrestling.
  9. Not sure about all the weights but I’ll give it a try. 106- Schafer 9 113- Seng 11 120- Egli 12 126- Folz 10 132- Vanover 10 138- Hermann 11 145- Hayhurst 12 152- May 10 160- Turner 10 170- Bauman 12 182- Martin 11 195- Sollars 12 220- Critchfield 12 285- Ralph 12 That’s a pretty solid lineup that can contend for the title. I think it’s a 3 horse race between MD, Brownsburg, and Crown Point.
  10. Here are some more from MD. 106 - Zirklebach/Happe 113 - Elderkin/VanNess/Herron 120 - G. Schaefer/K. Head/A. Weinzapfel/R. Head/Rogge/Ross 126 - Macke/ S. Schaefer/Luigs 132 - N. Lee/C. Elpers/B. Zirklebach/Freeman 138 - Boarman/Jankowski/Mieras/Lappe 145 - M.Lee/Schnur/Wilderman/Happe/ Dewig/ C. Weinzapfel 152 - Coughlin/J. Lee/Nosko/Armentano 160 -Mayer/Dickens/Simms/Wilderman/Weinzapfel/ Bauman 170 - Maurer/Boots 182 - Sollars/McDonald 195 - Schneider/Maurer 220 - Voelker 285 - Trainer
  11. Just speculating but this is a good duel meet lineup. With 2 returning state champs and a 5th placer they need a few more to score points to defend the title. 106 Seng 113 Schafer 120 Folz 126 Egli 132 Vanover 138 Laymon 145 Hayhurst 152 Voegel 160 Turner 170 Bauman 182 Sollars 195 Martin 220 Boots 285 Ralph I see Bauman, Sollars, Seng, Egli, Hayhurt, and Schafer making it. Also Vanover, Boots, and Ralph have a decent shot if they can create a favorable draw.

  13. The MD class of 1996 had a good group. Not quite all the state titles but a solid team. Kevin Head 2,3,4 Scott Schafer 5,2 Roger Nurrenburn SQ Joe Armentano 4 Todd Kite SQ Nick Mayer 6,1 Dan Goebel SQ Matt Voelker 5 8 seniors making it to state in the same year.
  14. Most of the Union wrestlers I watched also wouldn't let up either. They always attacked and looked to score more points. I don't recall ever seeing them get hit with a stalling call.
  15. Luigs looked really good. I'm just shocked how good Zeke (UC 106) looked for being an 8th grader.
  16. Luigs and Ervin was one heck of a match. Lots of action and good scrambles.
  17. Union County's 106 is tough. He walked through everyone. I thought Avon would have tested him in the finals but he rolled over him.
  18. What could have been in 1996??? New Castle won 7 against MD in the first ever team state finals. He would have made 8, and he would have pinned.
  19. 106 - Hindelighter 113 - Clay Egli 120 - Matt Lee 126 - Kyle Luigs 132 - Will Egli 138 - Nick Lee 145 - Wyatt Montgomery 152 - Joe Lee 195 - Kurtis Wildeman 220 - Michael Boots I heard a rumor that Will Egli was going to try and graduate from MD next year. If Konrath does go to MD, he would have tons of practice partners that would push him. MD would be suspect at 160-182, but the way the team championship is determined now these wrestlers could bring home a championship.
  20. I paid my money and restarted my computer but I'm still getting a serious delay. Anyone else??
  21. Lee was up 7-1 only 1 minute into the match then Lee let Bethal up. Joe shot in, had a leg and Bethal had Joe's head wrapped. Bethal was able to sit and flip Joe over to his back and immediately put in a top body and pinned him.
  22. Overall MD does have a few weak spots in their lineup. Without Will Egli, the team is weaker as well. But when it's all said and done MD still has a good shot at winning state with both Lees, Luigs, Jordan, Wildeman, and Egli being a solid core. If draws work out in MDs favor, a little bit of luck, and some of them pull an upset, who knows?
  23. 103-Kevin Head 112-Craig Macke 119-Scott Rogge/Rusty Head/Alex Weinzapfel 125-Scott Schafer/Bart Zirklebach/Tim Baumgart/Tim Nosko 130-Tim Mayer/Drew Lappe 135-Craig Elpers/Joe Lee 140-Dan Jankowski 145-Nick Dewig/Bandon Boots 152-John Sims 160-Nick Miller 171-Josh Boots 189-Andy McDonald/Jake Schneider 215-Matt Voelker 285-JustinVanWinkle That's a solid lineup. Not sure about all the weight. Feel free to add to some of the weights. My MD knowledge is limited to my age.
