  1. Brady will get a good test this weekend. He's dominated several D1 guys, now let's see how he does against a national qualifier in D3. I hope to be there cheering!
  2. For college wrestling the Little State meet will be at Manchester College Friday and Saturday.
  3. Wrestling shoes, duh. They last longer and smell better.
  4. I hope not, I probably should have tagged on a "Let's not discuss large vs small and classing, I'm begging you."
  5. What are the lineups for BC and Delphi? Without knowing lineups I would have to say Delphi, but I really want to say BC.
  6. Harper is a great coach, I was sad to see him leave Benton Central, but at a bigger school he can get the numbers that he couldn't possibly have gotten there.
  7. I love the idea, but attendance would rely on when and where it was held. If the competition was good enough to make it worth the cost people will be willing to drive to a location like Indy. It could potentially be as exciting as the state finals, which is definitely worth it.
  8. I just love when people come on to tell everyone how great they are. But in all caps, bold, and underlined. Bryce, you just made my day.
  9. I can assure you it was completely legitimate. Alexandria has improved, but going from Yorktown to Alexandria wouldn't be an improvement in chances like kids moving to Mishawaka or Crown Point get.
  10. They're still solid and working great. There's not much of a sole left any more though.
  11. The night before sectionals my freshman year I was wrestling our 140 pounder (I was 103) and wound up tearing a disc in my spine. I had to injury default my first match of sectional because the pain killers hadn't kicked in yet. I wound up getting a quick pin for 3rd, but that was back when only 2 went on, the way it should be. I wasn't too bummed because I had 3 more years, but wound up with nerve damage in my leg the next fall and never got another shot. 3 guys I had beat during the season placed at state that year, I wish I had gotten the shot.
  12. Black Widows were my favorites, I had a pair of Nikes in Jr High I hated though. The Black Widows were the most comfortable and had great traction. They looked incredibly cool too.
  13. It wasn't at semester, it was mid 2nd semester.
  14. They were at Yorktown, moved to Alexandria for 1 semester, than came back last spring. Parents had moved a couple times. Great kids, wherever they end up for college are gaining great people and solid wrestlers.
  15. Good to hear, keep working hard. Good luck this year!
  16. Ok. I was hoping it wasn't one of those beating around the bush euphamisms. Will he be able to get some weigh-ins this semester in or is that not allowed?
  17. Is that the same as saying he broke some rules and will be out for a while?
  18. I would say that's 100% it. He's a magnet for getting kids interested.
  19. I saw Steve wasn't in the rankings, now he isn't on the Delta roster in results. Is he no longer wrestling or did he move?
  20. And that's a higher caliber and more matches even. I never realized they were so cheap, I'll start buttering up the wife now.
  21. And that's why I have a great deal of respect for you coach Snyder. It would be very easy for the perennial state qualifiers to say that nothing's broken. When teams have absolutely no chance or hope to go it destroys programs. The smaller programs who happen to be located to powerhouses tend to fall apart because there's no chance for them to be successful in most people's eyes. My dad always spoke well of Al Smith and Mishawaka and I'll do the same, thanks. Will Patch
  22. I think the big names are down this year, but I would have my doubts the skill is down. There was a great crop that just graduated, but there will be plenty stepping up.
  23. First year wrestler Cam Brady took fifth place at the Michigan State Freshman/Sophomore Open Division wrestling tournament on Saturday. Brady opened the tournament with his second win of the year over Michigan's Collin Zeerip in a 5-2 decision. He defeated Dylan Marriott of Northwestern 9-3, and picked up a 10-3 win over Weston Davis of the University of Illinois. He fell to Brad Square of Ohio University 12-2 in the semi-finals, and lost to Matt Smith of Northern Illinois 10-7, putting him in the 5th/6th place championship round bracket, where he won by injury. http://www.manchester.edu/Athletics/wrestling/
  24. If we do that the kids get to vote, that could be interesting.
  25. I would love to see a Bratcher vs. Hankenson matchup, that would be 2 beasts going at it. Bratcher would likely win, but it would be fun to watch.
