  1. And, thats ok. We could have done this as well by classing the duals. But, as much as everyone wants to say it was the coaches who ruined that, I know for a fact that Bobby wants nothing to do with classing it. Period!! well, until he changes his mind again on something. But losing it was not the best option. And, his reasons seem to change from one quote to the next.
  2. 8 of the last 10 teams to win the 5A state in football have been from the MIC. That does not look good for most of us other 5A schools that play football. I am going to go to our head coach and tell him he needs to fight for a new system because he has very little chance of winning state. Its not fair to the other 5A teams. They just dont have the same chance or opportunity as the other 5A teams. And really, we should just drop girls swiiming. I would also venture to say that the majority of the coaches trophy winners in the last few years have been from the famous "30" team list that have the opportunity to wrestle in team state. I really do not like getting on this website and debating. I just feel this strong about a subject that really has helped promote the sport and has made an impact on the number of kids involved, fans involved, administrators involved..... My AD is a baseball, basketball guy. He is not real excited about individual tournaments but he likes the excitemnent of dual meets. Who doesn't except smooth, 1old and a few others out there. Sorry guys!
  3. Joe, with all the changes in wrestling this year and next, my head has already fallen off from spinning so much. Sorry, no bobble head night but we are going to play throw the hammer at Schoettle game. Its three throws for $100 bucks. He is all about it.
  4. Starts at 6 pm. First 100 who come will get free cake for Mrs. Tasseff's birthday. Also, we will have give aways thrown into the crowd. Toys and candy. Yum Yum!!
  5. This is a sad moment in Indiana High School Wrestling. No team tournament. Base, you are correct. The powerhouses can do it but Indiana can not. I will never understand how people dont get it. Are we really going to go ahead and just say it-we dont care if a team is the best team, The STATE CHAMPS-we only care if a team, I mean school, can build the best 4 or 5 guys. 1 old, although your thoughts are noble to the old school system-its just not correct. If wrestling has no team aspect to it why even crown a state championship team? Why wrestle duals? Why does the Perry/Cathedral dual bring more fans than the finals of the Marion County tournament? I could go on and on about how positive a TEAM event is for a school, the sport and a community. I really am not interested in the tired old bull that only a few teams can make it. I am glad we did not feel that way when Beech Grove(1/3 of our size school) beat our behinds for 6 straight years or when Roncalli(1/2 our size) whipped up on us at the sectional for 4 straight years. Both small schools, especially Beech Grove, and both have been to team state. I could go on and on but I just want the future team that wins state to get on here and talk about how much fun they had with their team the night they were proclaimed the high school state champs and nobody from their team was even around to know it. Better yet, when the coach calls his 132 lber who is at the movies with his girlfriend and says, hey, Billy Bob jr, we just won state and the kid says, Coach, leave me alone, I am at a great movie with a hot chick and I might get past first base tonight. Oh, sorry kid-I thought you might wanna know!!!!
  6. Congrats Jason. What a career, What a family. Its been really cool to have had the opportunity to be around both you and Alex and see you guys do special things on and off the mat. Good luck Jason, Coach Tonte
  7. All great tournaments but I have to admit I am biased towards the Marion County tournament. As Hall of Famer, Dave Walpole used to say when he coached with us at Perry, if you find yourself at the Top of the Podium at the County meet there is a good chance of you being on the podium at the State meet. So true for many years. I love it when I hear the county is down and then two Marion County teams wrestle in the state championship match.
  8. We now have an open date and are looking for a saturday tournament. Please contact Coach Shaun Richardson at PMMS at Srichardson@msdpt.k12.in.us
  9. Anyone wanting to sponsor or play PM me. My lifeline(phone) was stolen and I can not contact anyone right now. PM me as well and I can tell you a new number I am using for now. Thanks Coach Tonte
  10. Perry boys had a good game against Center Grove. I won't go into the 11 penalties at home bs the three for the Trojan visitors but the wrestlers played hard. Great job DE Jake Masengale,MLB CJ Martin,LB Kirk Johnson, QB Mason Deal, DL AndrewBova, CB Nick Bova, LB Devante Ashe, Lineman Tracii Doolin and Donte Winfield among others... Should be a good season for the Falcons.
  11. What a career. What a stud. What a great person. A feel proud to be a former Southport Cardinal wrestler as was Chris "Lights Out" Lytle. Thanks Chris for time spent with our kids at Perry and all kids across Indy. Have fun with the family. Coach Tonte
  12. Hey Danny can you post a picture of that award. It would be cool for everyone to see that bad boy. Great job again. FBJ
  13. An award well deserved. Danny is the ultimate team player be it team jeff or team Indiana. He does an outstanding job of promoting the sport and kids. Great job Danny. Coach T
  14. There will NOT be an RTC thru now until after labor day. It's been a pleasure to coach such dedicated athletes and to make many new friends. The hard work of these kids throughout the spring and summer has paid off. Great job all of you from every-school who made an effort to get better at our RTC. Coach T
  15. No we will not have RTC thru august. Thanks for all the great competition and all the friends we have had the opportunity to meet and to work with this spring and summer. The room was awesome and the dedication of kids was a tribute to Indiana wrestling Thanks Coach T
  16. Great job Perry boys in Fargo. You all had bright spots. Paul Mathews going four rounds in Greco, Donte Winfield losing 1-0,1-0 to vollaro, stud state champ and dual all American from Florida. Aidan Kenny winning 3 matches in freestyle losing his last match to the national champ. And of course the All Americans-Jacob Cottey, Kirk Johnson and Jared McKinley. Much to be proud of boys.
  17. To Josh and family, we are thinking of you guys at this tough moment. Josh is close to kids on our team and has been coming to our room for several years and we want you to know we are there for you. Coach Tonte
  18. Hub. Call me please at 371-2654. Thanks Coach Tonte
  19. Joe and family, I want you guys to know that my family, our wrestlers and parents are all praying for you. Even though Joe is one of our toughest competitors, he is like family to us. He has been around our program and team enough to call him one of ours and we are all one big wrestling family. We are here for you kid!!! Coach T
  20. We are back in action at Perry Tuesday and hope to see anyone going to Fargo that can make it from any school. Or if you been laying around for a few weeks and feel the need to break a sweat we will see you in the room at 6pm.
  21. Good luck Fleegs, Thanks for all you have done for our kids. Coach Tonte
  22. Yes I can shed some light. It's unbelievable to me how some people don't get it. I did not wrestle under the team state system but man I wish I would have. I was a three sport athlete and in the spirit of athletics having a team rallying behind each other and cheering for each other and training in the off season together for a purpose can not be matched. And again I wrestled in the old school system. But I want use my testimony because some of you think it's all about me. In fact its not. It's all about the kids. All of them. Sam Tasseff, Joe Klinesmith, Daulton Capps, everyone know those names. They are seniors who will not be in any record books and to be honest probably do not wrestle in the old system. In fact Capps came back out just to help win team state and Tasseff was 5th string last year and is involved in many school activities and was not wanting to wrestle. Man if you watched the Penn dual when he beat a state qualifier at team state. Well-i sure am glad the kids wrestled. But again. Don't ask me as Jared, Walpole, Chico and many others. In fact right after we won team state and Jared jumped on everyones shoulders and then turned to me and said this is better than last week because I get to share this win with all my friends and teammates. He said no disrespect coach but jumping into your arms was cool and all but not the same as jumping in the middle of the entire team. Chico, Nick both had tears in their eyes and told everyone at our banquet that they would trade their titles for a team title. Both were multisport athletes. Here is my biggest question. Why not do both. Like jared did. If you are telling me the state championship team should be rewarded by a few individuals on your team then I'm sorry but I have to question your use of commen sense. Sorry, honest feelings.
  23. I want to say a few things in regards to Disney Duals, parents, coaches and yes-TEAM STATE. First Congrats to all the Indiana teams and coaches. What dedication by these coaching staffs to spend time away from their families for kids. That is awesome. In particular I want to give props to some teams. Penn-freakin battelers. Hard nosed till the end. Another great showing. How about Mishawaka-their baaack. Hamilton Southeastern- very solid performance as well as Columbus East. Let's not forget Yorktowns fourth straight year in the comm. 2 finals. Or Lowells first year winning record and many more.....and here is my push for team state. Every coach there can not deny the fun and excitement of the duals vs going to, say, Iowa to coach your individuals in folkstyle nationals. It does not compare!!! What an injustice to Indiana wrestling. Perry parents-thanks so much for all you do. This is a special group and it starts at home. And my coaching staff- other than Zach and Skip snoring in stereo you guys were awesome. Thanks for your dedication. And let's not forget the kids. If it wasn't for your efforts we don't shine. Great job boys. Congrats to all, Coach T
