Just a heads-up - You have Nick Ulrey ranked in both 140 & 145. Nick's good but I think the IHSAA frowns on wrestling in 2 weight classes. Just maybe he could wrestle 140 and then throw on the mask to be the next NACHO LIBRE!. No one would ever know.

Parents - sometimes there is too much pressure coming from the homefront A good friend of mine from back in the day, Andrew Clark (some of you may know him) was always getting pressured by his old man. His dad was always on him about his dedication and intensity. It got to the point where Andy (that's what we called him) wished he would just get hurt (maybe blowout his knee) so he couldn't wrestle anymore. It also started changing his behavior as he started to get in trouble at school. He even got a detention for picking on hairy Larry Lester. Andy did eventually complete his senior wrestling season with an early exit in the Illinois State Tourney but I don't think that really bothered him because he had met this girl earlier in the year that made him happy (truthfully, I found her a little weird). I haven't seen Andy in a number of years but I heard he has really ballooned up, man could that guy eat. -

Really? Are you sure about that? If you are, I would get ready to open your checkbook because if you think a school district is going to support an athletic team that is not sanctioned by the IHSAA you are sadly mistaken. Charges to think about when wrestling is not part of the IHSAA: 1. Wrestling Room - It takes alot to heat that room to 95 degrees 2. Wrestling Mat - This could actually be a blessing. For those mats that are worn in the middle, this is a great opportunity to teach the boys to wrestle at the edges. 3. Singlets - Singlets, Singlets, we don't need no stinkin' singlets (please use a cheesy spanish accent when saying this line) 4. Warm-Ups - What is the going price for a Pro Power T-Shirt these days 5. Officials - winning team should have to pay for the officials since they're the only one happy anyway. (or expect alot of 42-42 ties) 6. Indiana State Fair Horse Barn - Needed to replace Conseco Fieldhouse - the good news is we don't have to worry about saving seats since everyone has to bring their own. these are just some of the expenses I could think of. I was at a soccer tourney over the weekend and Marion HS have a goalie named Jackson Bratcher and boy is he tough. He actually tackled the 1st opponent he saw with the ball and then spiked the ball off the kids head. I think he got a Red Card on that play.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who says that the Welch brothers, Willis, and Sliga were at 31 Flavors last night talking about moving to an area north of lafayette, south of lake michigan, west of south bend, and east of chicago. I guess it's pretty serious.

Nice Job Guys! Great to have a quality tourney in our backyard. It also helps out in these higher transportation cost times that teams do not have to travel across the state on one less weekend. Has there ever been a Hamilton County HS county tourney or is this the inaugural? (I'm seeing T-shirts if it's the first)

Rumor has it that Hamilton County is finally going to conduct a county tournament. Does anyone have the particulars on When & Where? My only suggestion is to move away from using the small circles for the older wrestlers. They spent too much time walking back to the center of the mat after the "step-outs".

So with that "thought process" and I use the term thought very loosely, ANY match-up between Merrillville and Ft. Wayne qualifiers goes to the M-ville participant. Good Luck with that!

Phillips will march through the field this weekend. I believe he got his wake-up call from Moss with a little back time at SS this past week.
