  1. Totally agree with you there. My intent with my post was the original poster said EMD would win SS if CP was in that area based on there calculations. They totally left out teams like BB and CG that would also have a say in the final results. That would have been a total barn burner of a SS if that were the case.
  2. OK I'll bite on this topic. So, you want to put CP in the Evansville SS with EMD, BB and CG. You say that the way that you have it playing out is that EMD would score more points than CP and win the SS title. I think we would both agree that both teams are wrestling at a very high level and would be very interesting to see, but where I am missing things is where is BB in your equation? EMD finished second in the SS to BB by 59 points and let's be real if Logan Miller doesn't get caught in a headlock then that margin would have been a lot bigger. Don't get me wrong that EC SS is down this year, but to say that EMD would leapfrog BB and then if CP were there beat them too is a bit of stretch. Also, I do recall some chatter during the EMD run of championships that they had a bit of an easier road (not saying it was easy but compared to Merrillville at the time it would be very similar to what you are saying now) to state and we still consider the 03 team in conversation as best ever. In the long run it would have been interesting to see, but if that SS did have CP in it, it is highly likely all of those teams could have beaten each other down we would be discussing some other team and their easy road to state.
  3. While I agree he was a true force this year it would have been one heck of a match between him and Andrew Howe their senior years (and it could have happened since Tsirtis did but up once this year to 160).
  4. My favorite moment would be seeing all of those kids that never got a chance to wrestle in an individual state finals, but got to wrestle in the team state version and get that feeling of being part of it.
  5. I think you may be pretty spot on with what you have, but I would go with CP over Cathedral in the second round. CP is really a dual meet team and they beat Cathedral earlier this year and with Willis hurt on Cathedral, depending if he can go or not may go a long way in determining this one.
  6. Agreed I coached Connor in 6th and 7th grade when he was in Noblesville. Kid has a ton of talent and I am truly not surprised to see him wrestling under the lights. Good luck Connor!!! Coach Williams
  7. I was a middle school football and wrestling coach at one time and that is one of the best way to recruit from one sport to another.
  8. I will throw one out there what about Don Patton from Delta 5 state championships a runner-up and a ton of individual champions. I will also say one thing about Coach Vlink and you can't hold one decision last year against him, even before this run of 5 straight state finals appearances he built Crown Point into one of the toughest wrestling schools in one of the toughest wrestling regions in the state. So, to take him off that list would be in my opinion be very wrong.
  9. Wow, principal and head wrestling coach at LN, should be a very interesting year for Coach Crousore.
  10. I may have missed this, but is there any word on who the new LN head coach is?
  11. This may be the best assessment of what happened during the match in question. I watched that match was basically watching Fuqua fighting from getting pinned in that match and then was hit with stalling with a couple of seconds left in the match and sat there and wondered what happened why the call there. I know the ref in question and he has reffed a few middle school matches that I have coached and I have had my issues with him. In fact when they introduced him my response was oh crap how does he get the call to ref a state meet, and I truly had a bad feeling in my stomach when he walked out on that mat to ref. By the way I am not taking anything away from MD I thought they wrestled very well and in that situation I think if that dual meet was wrestled 10 times it would be a 50/50 split that's how good I think both teams are. Once again as I said before it was a great day of wrestling lets hope that we can see it happen again next year with another team state trny.
  12. I would also like to point out to you that Mater Dei and Perry Meridian also beat many of those same schools by the same scores so whats your point? You don't want to kick a team when its down yet that is exactly what you do. The thing is many thought this field was a three horse race and the other schools involved came in and wrestled very well to make team state very interesting this year. Also it has been proven that even if Roach wrestled at 145 or 152 they still would have lost to a very good MD team so once again my point of this thread was to get us to look at the rules of a dual meet trny vs the individual trny which seems to be lost on some people based on an interview Coach Vlink gave right after the MD match.
  13. FYI my intent on this thread was to look at the rules about bumping weight classes in the team trny vs. the individual trny. My thoughts were these are two different types of trnys and in some case coaches use different strategies and by handcuffing them to certifying to two weight classes kind of holds them to only a few things they can do. I can see the point about losing weight, but if they gain the required amount to bump up one weight class they should be able to do so. That is just my thought.
  14. I do agree they start at the same spot, but I still think that in the long run they are different after the sectional since you are competing for a team rather then yourself. I think that in that sense there is a lot more in team strategy and the fact that in the case of Crown Point over the weekend they thought the best chance that they had was to be able to bump Roach up from 152 to 160 in that particular meet. I think that by certifying a kid to two weight classes for the team tourny can put a team at a disadvantage in certain spots, hence Saturdays meet. I just think that it is something to look at if there is a future for the team tourny.
  15. At 152 for team state this weekend: http://m.nwitimes.com/mobile/article_f119b3d6-b3a3-57df-b6c7-30afbfe7721e.html Now I know it's a rule and of course they did the right thing by enforcing it here, but thinking about it from this standpoint doesn't that kind of take away from the stratagy game that should be played in a team format? I mean in other team sports you can see kids move around from one spot to the next if they have the ability too why not wrestling? Just a thought even though I think that meet was really decided at the 135 pound weight class i still think that if there is a team tourny in the future they really need to look at that rule since the two are really two different series and in my mind should be treated as such.
  16. I personally think that they should not hand one out since that was one of the sticking points to get rid of team state from wrestling.
  17. Ok so here is the real question which is more impressive pinning your way to a state titlelike Reese did or tech falling your way to a state title like Howe did a few years ago?
  18. Watch out once you get a suite it gives a whole new view of the state finals. We had one in the lower area on the end and it was awesome, especially with the parking pass and stuff it was an awesome day.
  19. Good luck tonight at state, wish I could be there to see you wrestle this weekend. Glad to see the Millers return to the floor of Conseco and hopefully you are the first of many that will grace that floor for many years to come. Coach Williams
  20. My opinion is the fact that these kids have been pulled because there is something about the public school system so why in the world would they want them to play sports with them. As I said before its just another way for Mitch to put one over on public schools.
  21. On the brackets page on this site as well as www.ihsaa.org
  22. Just another example of Mitch Daniels and Tony Bennett and their crusade to destroy public education.
  23. I thought that the IHSAA always deferred to the officials decision.
