  1. Levi Duyn. It's still up on YouTube.
  2. Sinead O'Connor-Nothing compares to you Tim McGraw-Don't take the girl Hurt-Johnny Cash cover, not that NIN garbage
  3. Given the theme of obligatory topics for the week I figured I'd start this one since I haven't seen it yet. What are some of the best matches you have witnessed at state finals? Aside from some of the obvious finals matches, I'll start with some of my most memorable: 2006 130 lbs semi-finals- Matt Hemry (Portage) vs. Alexander Warren (Mooresville)- Warren built up a big early lead and Hemry stormed back mid to late 3rd with Warren holding off. Cant remember final score but both guys in double digits 2007 130 lbs quarters- Jake Fleckenstein (East Central) vs. Michael Harmon (Southwestern) -The big talk was Fleckentein and Galka in the semi's (#1 and #2 at the time I believe). Fleckenstein was slick and got in on ducks and singles with ease and Harmon hit 2 or 3 neck wrenches, putting Fleckenstein on his back each time. Final score 9-8 Harmon. One of the bigger upsets that year. 2015 120 lbs Friday Night-Tyler Ferguson (Evansville Reitz) vs. Jeremiah Reitz (Griffith)- Ridiculous Friday night draw. Don't remember all of the specifics other than fireworks the whole way through
  4. You did this just to hurt my heart since Madison has had input on best to never qualify and best to never win but, here it goes. Beat the who's who throughout his 4 years. Michael Miller(Madison) 4x SQ Losses on Friday Night: Alex Tsirtsis Dillon Whitacre Eric Aue Cahmelan Porter
  5. I was floored when I found out Cheatham was a second year wrestler. Seems to be a great kid and a freak athlete. Diamond in the rough for a college program if he chooses that route. Super high ceiling.
  6. Not to mention too, the logistical nightmare of getting every coach with a qualifier at a given SS to show up on an early weeknight to seed 16 wrestlers per weight, then set brackets and get them disseminated.
  7. There is no seeding past sectionals for any sport and most sports use a blind draw from the start. I'm also not aware of any other state tournament in the country that reseeds after every level of their respective state tournament. The further you go in the state tournament the less likely you are to have common opponents so criteria would be difficult. You can't expect the IHSAA to rely on an independent site's rankings for seeding purposes either. A prime example of that is your thoughts on the rankings. You may think they are inaccurate, while others believe they are which would be another reason people would dispute them at seeding meetings.
  8. 2015 Evansville-132 Austin Bethel vs. Brayton Lee 2010 Evansville-112 Cody Kendle (Pike Central) over returning state runner up Dusty Kief (Franklin Community) Then, Kief vs. the barricade at Roberts Stadium
  9. Keith Lauderbaugh is a savant. Consistently in the top 5 or 10 of every SS, every year. Idk how he does it.
  10. What was the call that gave Ramsey 1 in the 2nd when he was on top? and the 1 for the full on Anderson was iffy at best.
  11. Somehow I feel like Perry Meridian fans will still attempt to save all the open seats in BLF. I was really looking forward to the Carolina blue jackets covering dozens of seats and grown men and women staring daggers through you if you dare sit in their proxomity.
  12. Met him at AT one time. He was an NCO in another unit, but we were in the same squadron. I saw his name plate and knew a lot of the guys from his troop were from the New Castle area since that troop was in Connersville so I asked him if he was any relation to Mac Taylor. He just kinda laughed and said "Yeah man...that's me", then we talked wrestling for a little while. I'd always heard the name and accolades but never knew his face. Sad to hear this. Condolences to his family.
  13. I just can't believe Al Michaels used to commentate for NCAA's
  14. Triton Central is a smaller school that may not add their stats but they had a group of Kesterman's that spanned from early 2000's maybe to 2010's. One of them was a SQ if I remember correctly.
  15. I'd throw Justin Brooks in there. 5th,4th,4th,5th I believe (maybe not in that order). Took losses to Quiroga and Eppert in a couple of those years to bump him to the consols.
  16. I get that, but all it would take is a polite and professional reminder (Lisa) from BLF staff that it is a general admission event and that would curb a lot of it.
  17. The usher point is key. Most of them just awkwardly stare at you while trying to find a seat. Lisa from section 16 was awesome! Actively finding open seats for people and if a group tried to say open seats were being saved, she would ask if the people were on site. If the answer was no, she'd tell the group to let the people who were there sit there.
  18. IU is on the upswing. Angel is a better coach, mentor, motivator, leader, etc. than Goldman ever was so it's trending in the right direction. Mendez could do things at IU that have never been done; the same can't be said for Iowa. Hopefully he sees that as a selling point, but I'll be a fan wherever he goes...in three years.
  19. Totally anecdotal, but I'd say there are six perennial power house states-PA,OH,IA,CA,IL and NJ. 7-12ish ,which I think includes IN, would be a toss up on any given year. Feel free to destroy my statement, I don't have any data to refute facts.
  20. I played a part in this. My SS pick'ems scores were terrible. I went with my heart and not my brain on several picks. Lesson learned.
  21. Agreed. His match awareness, wrestling IQ, and takedowns are uncanny for a freshman.
  22. There were a few guys I whiffed on in the Eville SS rankings that I was impressed with today: 1. Trey Mucker-Tell City- At one point had him on my watch list. Kid absolutely brought it today and has a huge upside. 2. Josh Howell- Terre Haute South- Had him at #7, but should have been higher after seeing his composure and deceptive ability. Has the "baby face" effect that seems to work for him. 3. KT Nelson-Brownsburg-Before all of the hate comes in, I knew he was top tier, but I attempted to be impartial and go off of commons and big wins/losses. #6 Felt too low but that's what I had to go off of. Awesome day of wrestling and can't wait for next weekend.
  23. Jordan Fish from Madison is similar. Mid 2000's. I don't recall his record his Junior year but placed 4th at sectionals and put out 1st rd. at regionals. Went into SS his Senior year 39-2 I believe. Placed 3rd at SS and 8th at State.
