  1. It will be a great dual to watch. The south side of Indy, at least 7-8 wrestlers from St. Roch going at it. Looks like a C.Y.O. city championship. Hard to imagine considering St. Roch did not have a wrestling team until 2005. Coach McGuire and all the guys at St. Roch have to be proud.
  2. If one would know, I would. Jason can be beat. Let the Kieffer boys and their mom wrestle him. I have heard she runs a boot camp at that house.
  3. Sorry to hear about Andre, will miss seeing him on the mat this year.
  4. It was from wrestling. I think I recall hearing he hit a door, the hinge.
  5. I think Kenny was hurt. He required some stitches on top of his head.
  6. Reading this article makes me wonder and think of my kids. I for one was not a former wrestler, but a huge sports fan. Played and coached many sports, wrestling was never really introduced to me as a child. Nor do I think I had what it takes to be a wrestler. The first thought that comes to my mind when I meet a wrestler is "respect" just for all the reasons that are listed in the above article. My kids are in a fraternity, family of many present and former wrestlers. Wrestling has been good to them and for me. Listening to the boys from a distance always brings a smile to my face, when I hear such conversation about how one fought off a take down or how the other got so upset for allowing one to take the other down. So much pride comes from there voice. I think to myself, what would it be like, if one would of never introduced the boys to this sport. Then I just say to myself, I am truly blessed.
  7. Coach Tonte, What you and your staff do year in year out, just shows what you can do when you are committed. I recall the days before you guys took over. You and your staff take raw talent and produce a very competitive team every year. I can understand your passion for team state. I have witnessed it at Roncalli when Coach Ellis, Miller and the entire gang got involved. The big problem with P.M. (IMO) is every year some school gets a transfer that puts them over the top. Never on this board have I ever heard you complain about it. You guys keep on reloading with the kids you are dealt with.
  8. Great tournament, more importantly a great time. Joe and his crew did a good job all day.
  9. I will let them know. They have had some success on the pond this summer but nothing real big. I feel the same about your family. You guys are a class act. Thanks for all the nice comments. You are correct, just wrestle. Be Safe
  10. You know you guys mean the same to us, its just hard to read the B.S. on here, year in, year out. Familys that move to better there child for a sport. This is just one rumor, pretty sure some other programs have had the same effect on other familys. I just wonder how the child develops any roots. Must live a very sheltered life not to miss his friends.
  11. Josh, Justin, Joe spent most of the summer working part-time jobs to pay for there education. It meant that much to them. I don't even want to mention what the cost is to attend Roncalli. They missed out on Fargo because they saved every cent to attend Roncalli. They live 3 miles from Perry and respect the s*** out of the coaches over there. Coach Ellis is like a father to these kids. Its called being LOYAL.
  12. TheOne, what are you talking about. These kids had some of the best Coaches a state can offer. I am sure that these kids worked there butt off to perform well. Look at some of the scores of some of the matches and it could of went either way. Those kids that won are studs. I think you are selling these coaches and wrestlers way short.
  13. Attempting to get in touch with someone regarding Junior Camp. (Ref. Junior 135 Kieffer) Need address to send payment.
  14. Mr. Miracle I would like to have some info on how the process started for you. You can PM if you like. Exchange # and when you have time, like to talk to you.
  15. Drooke, I will get you some info on Josh and Justin Kieffer. I was told by someone you were looking for some info on these two. I will get back to you very soon. I am duty today so give me a day or so and I get you the info you are looking for. Thanks for your interest.
  16. Just 2 weeks ago from today, a boy that grew up in our house 75% of his childhood was in a neighborhood he grew up in. He attened one of the IPS school and begin to hang out with the wrong crowd. He was shot and killed for attempting to do something he knew he should not be doing. The school cut back on most of the programs, so for the last 24 months he needed something else keep himself busy. Droped out of school and started living life of crime. The kid was a stud football player and a awesome wrestler. So much upside to him, he just got mixed up with wrong crowd. I just think down the road if you continue cutting back in ours schools more storys like this one will surface.
  17. It all came to a head with the property tax cap. In which I was glad to see happen in some regards, but not to this point. People who are retired and have there house paid for should not lose there home because they cannot pay the property tax. They are on a fix income and in my opinion have paid there fair share. We all know education, public safety takes 60% property tax. This situation is going get worst, we have not seen the worst. Two programs that I think should never be touched public safety, education. I have no problen paying for education, public safety. My kids don't even go to public schools, but if I was asked to pay more on property taxes for education, public safety I think most of us would. Goverment has pissed away so much money for years that the only ones that are going to suffer is our kids, grand kids. Who ever thought it would be a great idea to cut from education. Lay off teachers, cut drama clubs, sport events. We wll see the effects for years to come, uneducated children will lead to higher crime rate.
  18. Thanks to all the coaches, J.D. and all the parents for all your support. The kids had a great time with all the wrestlers. The parents of these kids have done a very good job raising some fine young men. A special thanks to Dingo, Drooke for all the updated info. Thanks again, Kieffers
  19. Thanks for your reply. Like I stated, I read about stuff on here and wonder, Wow. I am going to take a mental note here and look back and observe how some of these young athletes do in the future. I encourage my boys to approach wrestling with a less degree in the off season, not to just totally ignore it, but scale down. Do plenty of weight training, running, and get on the mat few times a week. They are getting in a basketball league during the summer, fishing all the time, hanging out with friends and family. Get away from it so you can refresh your mind and body.
  20. I look on this board at times and wonder to myself, do others fear that there child will become burned out on this sport. I can't help to think that after time, it will come crashing down. The sport is so demanding, I think you just become broken down. Not to mention the healthly side of having a social life, interacting with different sports. I get the fact that you have to stay atuned to the aspects of wresling, in conditioning, flexibility, working on improving your skills. IMO you change the course, you mix it up, to make the sport more desireable when the real season begins. I understand you make the workouts during the spring, summer, and early fall. But to continue such a enduring schedule in off season, seems to me that it will put a toll on you physically, but worst mentally. I was just wondering if I am the only one who wonders about this or do others share my thoughts.
  21. Was coaching my sons 5-6th grade football team. The team we were playing was making some great open field tackles. After our game was talking to the opposing team coach. I asked him what kind of drill do you guys run to become so good in open field. He said well all my kids are wrestlers. So I just kinda past that piece of info to my team. Told my boys if you want to be better in football maybe we should look into wrestling. Took them to one practice and they fell in love with the sport. I did also. My Chief had told me for a while to sign them up for wrestling. I, for a long time was not really interested, just because I did not know much about the sport. Being a football, basketball, baseball person I was really not sure if the boys would enjoy it. Now our family eats, sleep, s***, the sport. We even got my wife involved, which she was totally against it. She now loves the sport also. The sport has done so much for our family, in so many positive ways. I would of never thought that we as a family would be watching Big Ten Championships ten years ago. I now promote the sport to any and all young children that have an interest in athletics.
  22. I know the twins are planning and have sent in the info just this morning. Josh Kieffer 119, Justin at 125. The big problem for them was Prom on Saturday. My understanding is it will be over around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
  23. Roncalli should be tough again next year. They will bring back at least 9 starters and some of JV kids who I am pretty sure never lost a match this year in JV will fill some holes. Some of those kids would of made most line ups if in different programs. I think they will be as good if not better.
  24. He might not be a 2x state champ, but I would not bet against him. He has a very bright future.
