  1. The first match Castle lost several 1 or 2 point matches. The second time Castle won those matches.
  2. The sectional round has 32 sectionals now. They cut it down from 64 sectionals back around the 2001-2002 season. He was saying that the sectionals are good the way they are now.
  3. Tagenhorst is a good wrestler and anything can happen at semistate. I think the guy who said he is done this coming weekend may know that Tagenhorst is going to be wrestling Dylan Froehlich from Tell City. Kyle Schneider from Southridge is the guy that beat Tagenhorst at regional. Kyle is something like 1-11 against Dylan lifetime and 0-3 against him this year. The report I received on the regional match is that Tagenhorst had problems with Kyle's height and leverage advantage. Dylan is built the same way and has around 5-6 years more experience wrestling. I am not saying that Tagenhorst can not beat Froehlich but I do think that he is going to be the underdog in this match.
  4. It is good to be lucky. What happened to Tag at 215? How did the match he lost go?
  5. Who had Cook on his back? Was it long enough for back points?
  6. On the Evansville semistate bracket several kids are listed at the wrong weightclass from the Jeffersonville regional.
  7. I think that Marion county is the only county that has teams that go to more than one regional. If this is true then no other county would have a chance to advance more than one team.
  8. Here are the results from the Jasper team regional match between Jeffersonville and Southridge. Do they make anyone want to change their predictions for this Saturday? 11. wolfpackwrestling, did your kids have trouble making weight after not having practice all week or could they still not travel on Crawford Counties back roads to make it to the sectional?
  12. If they request a pass before the tournament each newspaper can send two people for free. This is from the IHSAA winter bulletin: "VII MEDIA A. Radio-Television Coverage ? All requests shall be made to Associated Sports Productions, Inc., 30 S. Pennsylvania Street, Suite 190, Indianapolis, IN 46204 (Phone: 317-633-1462; Fax: 317-633-1461). Stations from cities or areas of the participating schools shall be given first consideration with others being considered in order of requests, according to accommodations. Limit: 2 passes per station. B. Newspapers 1. For Sectionals, Regionals, Semi-States ? Advanced written requests must be filed with the center principal allowing a maximum of 2 passes per newspaper. 2. For State ? Advanced requests must be filed with the IHSAA. C. Photographers 1. General Photographers MAY use electronic flash/strobe cameras during the progress of a sporting event as long as, in the opinion of the contest officials, the flash does not hinder the actions of or endanger the contestants. The final decision as it relates to photography rests with the judgment of the contest official. School administrators have the authority to designate certain areas from which photographers may operate during a contest. a. Each school competing in an IHSAA tournament may obtain 1 student photographer pass for the contest in which their school is participating for the school?s yearbook and/or newspaper staff. Each individual or school shall be responsible for providing an admission ticket. b. The photographer should be dressed appropriately and ?neutrally? (not in blatant school colors, hats, etc.) where he/she is working. c. The photographer shall not display conspicuous partisan support during the contest. d. The photographer shall avoid contact with participants and coaches and inappropriate involvement with the crowd during the contest. e. The photographer shall not interfere with the action of the match. f. Advanced requests for photographer credentials must be filed with the center principal for sectionals, regionals or semi-states and with the IHSAA for the state finals no later than 5 days prior to the day of the tournament. g. Failure to follow these guidelines will cause the school to lose its photographers privileges for that tournament. 3. All Other Photographers a. For Sectionals, Regionals and Semi-States, advanced written requests must be filed with the center principal. b. The number of photographers and their locations shall be determined by the center principal. c. For the State Finals ? Advanced requests must be made with the IHSAA."
  13. You have the rule you used in your example totally wrong. To wrestle in the team regional a wrestler has to be listed on this teams sectional entry list that was sent in to the IHSAA a few weeks ago. If that wrestler was listed at 112 on the sectional entry list he can only wrestle 112 and 119 in any part of the IHSAA state tournament series. That whole recertification thing you are talking about changed about 6-8 years ago. So basically if Blake Maurer were wrestling 171 in the IHSAA Individual tournament he could only bump up to 189 in the team series not 215. What exactly does this have to do with Castle vs. MD #2?? The year Blake Maurer moved up to wrestle 215 at team state that was ok. The IHSAA put this rule in the very next year.
  14. Yes, you could even say the first match is a "must" win match. ;D
  15. There are eight guys in the bracket at regional. If you get beat in the first round you are out of the tournament. If you win the first round you wrestle in the second round. If you win the second round you will wrestle for first and second. If you get beat in the second round you wrestle for third and fourth place.

  17. It already happened last year at the Evansville semistate.
  18. Last year a 4th place finisher from the Castle regional placed 3rd at the semistate.
  19. I will try to make this as simple as possible. In a 16 man bracket: First Round: (Round of 16) If you win in the first round you will get 2 advancement points. You can also get bonus points, they are 1 point for a major decision, 1.5 for a tech. fall and 2 points for a fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. If you had a bye in the first round you get no points at that time. If you get beat in this round you are out of the tournament. The total points possible from this round is 4 points. Second Round:(Round of 8) If you win in the second round you will get 2 advancement points. If you had a bye in the first round you will also get and additional 2 advancement points. If you lost in the second round you get no advancement points from the first round bye. You can also get bonus points, they are 1 point for a major decision, 1.5 for a tech. fall and 2 points for a fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. At this time you will receive 3 placement points because everyone that wins in this round are guaranteed to place not lower than 6th place. 6th place gets 3 placement points. The total points possible from is round if you did have a bye in the first round is 9 points. The total points possible in this round if you did not have a bye in the first round is 7. 3rd round in the championship half of the bracket: In this round of the championship bracket you can score 2 advancement points. You can also get bonus points, they are 1 point for a major decision, 1.5 for a tech. fall and 2 points for a fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. You will also get 9 more placement points at this time (you get the 9 placement points because you are now guaranteed to place no lower than 2nd place, 2nd place earns you 12 team points. You already got 3 of those 12 points in the round before this one.) The total points possible in this round is 13 points. 3rd round in the consolation half of the bracket: In this round of the consolation bracket if you get beat you are out of the tournament. If you win you get 1 advancement point. You can also get bonus points, they are 1 point for a major decision, 1.5 for a tech. fall and 2 points for a fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. You would also get 3 placement points because if you win at this point you are guaranteed at least 6th place. 6th place is worth 6 team points. The total points possible in this round is 6 points. 4th round is the consolation semifinals: In this round of the consolations if you get beat you will wrestle for 5th and 6th place in the final round. If you win in this round you get 1 advancement point. You can also get bonus points, they are 1 point for a major decision, 1.5 for a tech. fall and 2 points for a fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. You will also get 4 placement points because you will now place no lower than 4th. 4th place earns 7 team points (you already received 3 of those points in another round). The total points possible in this round is 7 points. Final round: If you are wrestling for the championship and win you can earn bonus points, they are 1 point for a major decision, 1.5 for a tech. fall and 2 points for a fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. If you win you would also get 4 placement points (because 1st place is worth 16 points and you have already received 12 of those points). The total team points possible in this round is 6 points. If you are wrestling for 3rd place and win you can earn earn bonus points, they are 1 point for a major decision, 1.5 for a tech. fall and 2 points for a fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. You can also earn 2 placement points for 3rd place. 3rd place is worth 9 team points but you have already been awarded 7 of those in other rounds. The total team points possible in this round is 4 points. If you are wrestling for 3rd place and win you can earn earn bonus points, they are 1 point for a major decision, 1.5 for a tech. fall and 2 points for a fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. You can also earn 2 placement points for 5th place. 5th place is worth 5 team points. You have already been awarded 3 of those points before this round. The total team points possible in this round is 4 points. Simple right?
  20. You are correct...I completely spaced on White. I'm sure he'll be in the top 3...most likely #1. I do have one question, if anyone can answer it... Easterling has got to be the top seed in 160...how come he is the only wrestler to not have a 1st round bye? Oh yeah...and how is the double FF handled? I noticed @ 152 NP & Bosse meet, both w/FF. I figure that Ritter just automatically advances to the Semis, and I assume neither of the FF count for anything? Who gets the match instead of one of the byes is totally random. If he really is the best guy in the weight it is to his teams advantage for him to have that match instead of a bye. The guys with a first round bye will not get any team points in the first round unless they win the second round match. If they win the second round match they will get two advancement points for the bye from round one. The winner of the match in round one will get two advancement points from that match and also has a chance to get one bonus point for a major decision, one and a half bonus points for a tech. fall, and two points for a fall, forfeit, DQ, or injury default. The top six wrestlers are seeded.
  21. Jasper's 103 is seeded 1st and I think he will win the sectional. If you are asking this question because of my post where I wrote "The Jasper 103 will score 22 points and place 2nd if he makes weight" what I was saying is that if Jasper's 103 makes weight he will be in the championship match because there are only three wrestlers in the bracket and the other two are on the other side. If the Jasper 103 makes weight he can get no less than 2nd place and score no less than 22 points.
