  1. It has been a bad night for Indiana wrestling so far three state championships have been decided by just bad officiating! Let's hope it stops at three! And know one gets hurt!
  2. Yorktown would :'( if you brought Penn and Mishawaka over to the Ft Wayne Semi-State. They wouldn't get 8 kids through that weak semi-state anymore! HELL! Penn would take 12-14 kids to state every year!
  3. Lafayette Jeff 0-4 Lafayette Harrison 2-8 West Lafayette 1-4 Seems like the Lafayette area could start pulling it's own weight! Only two of a potential 16 wrestlers made it to state. Sounds more like the Greater Lafayette Area is the problem!
  4. This entire situation could have been avoided if the "Official" had done his job and instantly stopped the match for potentially dangerous when the kids came to their feet, and Hartman's arm was trapped. For the safety of the kids that's why we have a rule book - blow the whistle "potential dangerous" Second, if coach Hartman was so worried about doing the right thing...knowing young Hartman was going to lose with 10 seconds on the clock....why don't they both stand on the line let the 10 second tick off? The kid and coach can say all they want about we wish that Torres could take his sport next week. Fact is with Hartman Injury Defaulting to 4th Torres isn't the alternate.
  5. During the sectional and regional a survey was passed out with 10 different questions on it reguarding the state of wrestling in Indiana. After you answered all these questions you were asked to rank the importance of each question to you. Alot of the questions in this survey were non-issues like class wrestling. Do we really need to be fighting against each other on new projects when we have a huge problem in front of us still unsolved! Class wrestling is not important! When we have 500-600 hundred schools with wrestling programs in the state of Indiana then we can talk about class wrestling. What needs to be done is fix what is broken! Fix it before moving on to another project! We need to fix two things in our system to make it the model of the whole country! These two broken parts of our system are simple to fix yet we decide to talk about other things. Not until we can truely allow all the wrestlers in the great State of Indiana to truely decide on the mat whole is the best wrestler in the state can we move on to something else. All we need to do is wrestle the whole regional bracket as we do the week before in sectional. It is crazy to have the 1st round at regional a single elimination round when we wrestled the same size bracket the week earlier. Second, we need to allow a wrestle back from the second round of semi-state. This eliminates back luck from bad draws by someone who is not working hard to achieve a goal of State Qualifier or State Champion! Leave the 4th place regional qualifers home and wrestle a one round wrestle back. If you are a coach, administrator, member of the coaches association or just a fan these two things are the only things that need to be discussed until they are fixed!
  6. I was just looking at the brackets for the State Tournament! How about all the GOOD matches will be before the finals! They should turn out the lights for the semi-final round!
  7. Myers (CP) couldn't bend his leg last year with the full leg brace he had to wear because of his torn ACL. Myers took 4th in the state last year with a torn ACL! Myers had 4-6 losses last season all to Andrew Howe! Chico Adams literally escaped losing to Fitzgerald in the semi-finals last year at state! Adams 1-0 over Fitzgerald Fitzgerald has only been taken down 4 times in his high school career!!!!! There is only a handful of wrestlers from around the state that could survive the Merrillville Semi-State! Every year because of a lack of wrestle-backs the Merrillville Semi-state leaves wrestlers home that would win most of the Semi-states from around the state!
  8. Sectional: By cutting 64 Sectionals down to 32 and allowing wrestle backs the IHSAA has created the perfect Sectional Level. Regional: The Regional needs to be run just like the Sectional bracket! By allowing all 8 wrestlers a chance to wrestle back you will create the perfect Regional!!!!!! Semi-State: Although the addition of the Regional 4th place finisher is nice! Wrestlebacks from the second round would create the perfect Semi- State format! State: Friday Night is Perfect as is! Saturday needs to have a true wrestleback to 3rd place! That is the Perfect System. It takes away screwing kids with blind draws and forces everyone to decide it on the mat!
  9. Hawkins handled Nelson at the Tricoff Cashe ran from Tsirtsis at the Tricoff Myers has beaten Runyan for years! Chalfant hasn't wrestled anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mark my word people! Merrillville Semi-State will continue to dominate the rest of the state! If the IHSAA would allow wrestlebacks at the semi-state level you would see 4 true semi-state qualifers from Merrillville!
  10. This year is nothing new! The top two spots of the podium will be dominated by the Merrillville Semi-State. Mark my word!!!! The Merrillville Semi-State will win at least 8 titles if not all 14! 103 Ayersman - Lake Central 112 Hawkins - Crown Point (Lock) 125 Tsirtsis - Crown Point 130 Harper - Mishawaka (Lock) 135 Roach - Crown Point (Lock) 140 Surma - Munster Sandifer - Mishawaka One of these three will be the champ! Hall - S.B Riley 145 Young - CMA 152 McMurray - Portage (Lock) 160 Myers - Crown Point (Lock) 171 Atwood - Delphi 189 Shrewsberry - Crown Point (Lock) 215 Cleveland - Lowell (Lock) 285 Fitzgerald - John Glenn (Lock) The Merrillville Semi-State year in and year out is the best in the state of Indiana. If the IHSAA would allow wrestle-backs at the Semi-State, Merrillville would dominate 1st-8th place.
