  1. http://blog.pennlive.com/patriotnewssports/2010/11/going_deep_wrestling_experienc.html A very good piece, especially for those people in schools where football and wrestling do NOT compliment each other....please read
  2. http://golimestonesaints.com/news/2010/11/22/WREST_1122103241.aspx By Trey Bloomer, Sports Information Intern 11/22/2010 11:27:11 PM SPARTANBURG, S.C ? Redshirt-junior Bryce Sopko (Riverview, Mich.) and redshirt-senior Casey Bradley (Muncie, Ind.) score two falls as No. 20 Limestone College (1-2) dismantles Spartanburg Methodist College, Monday, November 22 in Spartanburg, S.C. The win secures the Saint?s first victory in the dual match season. Following Sopko?s third-place finish at the Pembroke Classic he got the night started with the first fall of the night by pinning Pioneer freshman Reid Welch 1:59 into the first period. Sopko scored two take downs before finally pinning Welch to win the 174-pound weight class and improves to an impressive 6-2 on the season. Bradley secured his victory for the Saints with 40 seconds left in the third period. He posted a takedown in each period, and scored an escape in third period before finally pinning Spartanburg Methodist?s sophomore Donnee Grace in the 184-pound division. Limestone would have three of its wrestlers post major decisions, including an impressive 12-1 victory for redshirt-junior heavyweight Charles Weber (Radford, Va.). Weber would come close to pinning freshman Marcus Ovalle on two separate occasions as he scored near-falls in the second and third periods of the bout. Weber also notched two takedowns and one reversal in the match. Sophomore Kyle Freiberg (Middlefield, Ohio) and redshirt-senior Matt Hall (Hamptonville, N.C.) were the other Saints to post major decisions on the nigh. Hall shut out freshman Dallas Phillips by scoring a takedown in all three periods on the way to an 8-0 major decision in the 141-pound division. Hall also led the Blue and Gold on the night with an impressive four minutes and eighteen seconds of riding time. Freiberg nearly got a fall on the night while earning a near-fall in the third period. He also scored an impressive three takedowns in the first period of the 157-pound clash. 3. Jake Reed (Muncie Southside Sophomore) was a semistate qualifier last year and will be back at 152 this year.
  4. Stevie has made a personal decision to not wrestle this year.

  8. And either Bellmont or Yorktown will add another appearance due to them being in same Team Regional.
  9. Now that the IHSAA has made the statement about violating bylaws, is the IHSWCA going to stop giving the Trophy this year? It seems like he made sure to make a point that there is never any pleasing the coaches and wrestling community by bringing up the Coaches Trophy and what he said about the award.
  10. I think it is not Mville being down, it is just that some of the other semistates have really come up.....
  11. Great article... and it is very awesome to see so many former Indiana High School wrestlers in this dual..... and we get a former state champ battle at 125......
  12. So, no matter who is at 125 it will be a matchup against former state champs.... AWESOME
  13. He is also concerned that the Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association continues to award a trophy at the individual state finals to the school that would have won the state title under the old scoring system, before the team tournament was instituted in 1996. Cox said that is a violation of IHSAA bylaws. The coaches continue to award it, even though they have been asked to stop. If this is true, then why do we continue to award it? I admit knowing the old scoring system is fun and entertaining and I like it, but if it is violating the by laws then shouldnt it be stopped? People will still be able to figure it out and have fun with the discussion without it being an actual award. Has the IHSAA ever "officially" asked for it to be stopped, or have comments just been made?
  14. I thought I would give it a try.... I know some of these teams may be down, but these teams have produced quality teams and state caliber wrestlers over the years.... 1. EMD 2. Bellmont 3. Yorktown 4. Whitko 5. Peru 6. Beech Grove 7. Danville 8. Princeton 9. Garrett 10. Muncie South (my homer vote)
  15. are these new teams than from the past? I thought Fishers and Union County were there last year.
  16. We all know what some of the best tournaments and duals are during the season, but what are the best opening dual/tournament/ match of the season. Thoughts?
  17. Agreed... a few matchups could also be interesting with the chance of bumping lineups around.... Faurote is sandwhiched between Jackson and Hiestand, does either school make a move here... if close will Bellmont bump thatcher to wrestle Neff??? will both schools just line it up and wrestle? the November dual will be fun and intense, but the Team Regional dual will be even more fun and intense. Great dual for us fans to sit back and watch!!
  18. Good start for Indiana Tech!!!!!
  19. Word is that he will not be wrestling this year.
  20. dual will be good again this year, but Yorktown will dominate the Ft. Wayne semistate. probably 6 or 7 champs....
  21. There seems to be more top teams this year than before. Legit arguments can be made for up to 5 teams for the top spot. This is going to be a very fun and exciting season this year.
