How will the brackets work?
If you win your first match You get winner of the other first round match up.
Example 1 seed vs 8, 4-5, 3-6, 2-7win that second one and wrestle 4 team round robin of Final Four. Lose second round and wrestle 4 team round robin of the teams who won round one but lost round two .
-
Should be a good weekend . We could see some top match ups but by separation of teams might make a couple harder. Could have Zar vs Joey at 132
-
Kaptur is 132 as of now not weighing in at 120

Laporte vs CP tonight in CP
we talked about it on Gorilla Radio last night. But we heard a rumor about a possible Jackson bump for a champ vs champ match. Both are D1 recruits could be a nice early season rest.
how do you think it go? Style makes match ups and frazier and Jackson could be fireworks.
I would be shocked if this happens but hope it does. It would be a battle of totally different styles . I would give the edge to Frazier as bigger and hard to stop on his feet. Frazier also hard to keep down on bottom. I don’t want to offend either kid as both proven in Indiana but will start this and say 7-2 Frazier

And this Conference gets tougher & tougher every year .
Rankers forgetting a few names that will but I’ll remind them off that will do damage in any bracket they’re in .
Brownsburg - Tommy Gibbs
Avon- Quinten Schoeff
just my 2 cents or penny
So where is Gibbs if Brownsburg has HAines ranked 11? Can’t have two at same weight

Fort Wayne Fort Wayne #1I like the Different take from the state rankings as everyone has a different opinion. I’m still thinking Horn gets the 1 at 106, I will take incoming Freshman Jackson Bradley at the 2 at 113. 120 is pretty deep but will take One of the bigger returning State Placers/Qualifiers from last year over the State placer at 106. At 132 I’m taking Doster as will be tough to beat. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out throughout the state and the weights kids will settle in at .

Historically, how many unranked Freshman have made the podium?
Last year two Freshman placed who started the season unranked. Levi Johns at 106 and Eddie Goss at 113.

I like the idea of the qualifier being put in place that way you don't have people end up in 65+ man brackets and have people sign up, go wrestle and get knocked out in 20 seconds, and i think it makes more sense cause then you would actually qualify to wrestle at the state tournament rather than just sign up
Most qualifiers will barely have as many kids that qualify. Last year I believe they might have been taking 12 from each one. The heavier weights will most likely be under what they take. We have done it for years and had no problems with how it was and out of there at a decent time.

CP wrestles a tough schedule and pretty sure he’ll get his shot vs. my controversial rankings. As for Walker and Mishawaka he’ll get his matches through duals and good ol’ Al Smith .
My rankings Top 5 have the State hardware hanging up on their walls somewhere. They earned my Top 5 . Beat’em and I’ll change them around .
Get that win !
I believe 7 of your 10 will all be at the Al Smith

Hawkins is not 8 and will prove that soon enough. Zar Walker is not 10 either. I can see making a argument to start the year not putting a freshman at the Top but 8th is not a accurate ranking for what he has done coming in

The Al Smith will answer a lot of questions. The East Chicago Semi State is going to have some brutal blood round matches

Also performed at pre season this weekend. Going to update on Tuesday.
Cesar Salas should be pretty high. Iswa State and Middle school state champ. Competes at Super 32. Also Hornsby is ranked way too low. Middle School Runner up and competes all over. He was almost a semi finalist at IHPO. Vargo also tough match up with athletic ability and strength.
