  1. I know the Pittsburgh Classic won’t be 14 weights but it got me thinking... what would Indiana’s theoretical best 14 man Senior lineup be? This would including bumping up weights. Here’s my opinion below:

    106 - Smith

    113 - Dickey

    120 - Miller

    126 - Ruble (bumped up)

    132 - Seltzer

    138 - Mendez

    145 - Watson

    152 - Koontz (bumped up)

    160 - Conway

    170 - Baumann

    182 - Buchanon

    195 - Sollars

    220 - Barket (bumped up)

    285 - Whitenack

  2. At 120 you have a combined 13 Indiana state medals.  At 126 you have a combined 6 Indiana state medals.  At 132 you have a combined 12 Indiana state medals.  Any chance we see guys bump up or drop down to 126 since on paper it is an "easier" weight class?

  3. Every year there are a few 4's who beat a 1 Friday night.  Here are some potential ones for me:

106 - Krueger (CE) over Jackson (LP) - I know Jackson is on fire but Krueger has wrestled him tough in the past.

113 - Courtney (CG) over Leavell (WC) - Again Leavell has wrestled great all season but Courtney is very good and has beat him in middle school.

113 - Cottey (PM) over Egli (EMD) - does this count?

138 - Brown (PH) over Arthur (OH) - Arthur looked great at SS but this is Brown's 3rd shot to place.

170 - Dale (PM) over Kreager (FWS) - Kreager wrestled great at SS against a good field.  Prior to SS, I would have picked Dale.

195 - Eason (FC) over Khaoucha (NR) - EV was much tougher that FW at 195.  I could see Eason taking this.

220 - Viel (EC) over Clifford (CC) - New Castle was by far the deepest 220 SS.  Tough draw for FW who I think goes 0-4 at 220 on Friday Night.

285 - Donati (PE) over Shafer (CO) - Shafer looked great at SS but Donati comes from a rich program in Penn.  Not saying it happens but saying I wouldn't be surpised.

Again, notice this is "Potential 4 over 1's" not "Predictions of 4 over 1's".  What do y'all think?  Who else is on upset alert?

  4. How would an all Indiana HS Alumni team do in college at the National Tournament? Would they be a trophy team?

    125 - Hildebrandt (4) / Hudkins (18)

    133 - Micic (2)

    141 - Lee (3) / Red (6)

    149 - Lee (3) / Red (6)

    157 - Lee (6)

    165 - Lee (14)

    174 - Hughes (20)

184 - Parkinson (NR) / Walker (NR) / Laughlin (NR) / Fielden (NR)

    197 - Davison (7) / Allred (NR)

    285 - Parris (2)

I know Rooks is ranked at 149 but for the team, you can’t have Red on the bench

For reference, OK State is ranked as the 4th team now and they have guys ranked 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, and will probably have some true freshman still rising.

Could “Indiana” be a Trophy Team?

Any thoughts/predictions for the JayCo Regional?

  6. Did the Perry Meridian weight changes help or hurt their overall team state score?  Looking at the Morton - Cottey switch I think even if Cottey wins 113, Morton will have a tough time placing at 120.  Whereas I think Morton has a good chance to place at 113 and Cottey would be top 3 for sure at 120.  I do not think the Cottey weight change effects their team score because I think he should win 132 or 152, and they did not bump out a state placer with moving him around.  Thoughts on if the Cottey weight change helps or hurts Perry's team score?
