  1. Coach, my sister has been dealing with something similar. Our prayers seem to be working for her so we will do the same for your wife. Godspeed.
  2. Let's start with the premise that Chad Red does not exist to entertain me. Yet I am highly entertained by him. The logical conclusion then is he can do whatever he pleases for whatever reason he pleases and my opinion of that matters not a wit (and it is just an opinion after all for how can I or anyone possibly claim to know what is in his mind), but I can still watch him wrestle and enjoy it. Of course, I would be more entertained if he and the Lee boys wrestled, but if Chad Red every weighs what I want in his thought process I would be disappointed. That said, come on and make this happen. And I take either Nick Lee in a close one between two all out attackers. I also like Joe Lee, but in a much more tactical affair that ends up decided by power.
  3. what are the recent historical results for this meet?
  4. yes, it is less belittling because it is on an opinion board where everyone is choosing to post their opinions, not directed at high school kids trying to wrestle. And let me be sure I understand this. You believe your booing teenagers prevents the sissification of America, but my sarcasm is belittling to you?
  5. Speaking of analysis I took the liberty of updating the much not-maligned maligned's earlier post to compare the work he did on the prior 5 years to 2015: Round 1: 2010-2014 average, #1's go 51-5 against #4's 2015 #1’s went 49-7 against #4’s 2010-2015 average, #2's go 35-21 against #3's 2015 #2’s went 29-27 against #3’s Quarterfinals: #1: 2010-2014 (74% quarterfinal win percentage; 67% of all #1's advance to semi-finals) 2015 (78% quarterfinal win percentage; 68% of all #1’s advance) #2: 2010-2014 (31% quarterfinal win percentage; 20% of all #2's advance to semi-finals) 2015 (31% quarterfinal win percentage; 16% of all #2’s advance) #3: 2010-2014 (25% quarterfinal win percentage; 9% of all #3's advance to semi-finals) 2015 (22% quarterfinal win percentage; 11% of all #3’s advance) #4: 2010-2014 (46% quarterfinal win percentage; 4% of all #4's advance to semi-finals) 2015 (43% quarterfinal win percentage: 5% of all #4’s advance) 2010-2014 #1 vs. #2: 114-44 (72%) 2015 72% 2010-2014 #1 vs. #3: 73-23 (76%) 2015 83% 2010-2014 #2 vs. #4: 11-6 (65%) 2015 50% 2010-2014 #3 vs. #4: 3-6 (33%) 2015 33% Semi-finals: 2010-2014 #1’s: Represent 81% of the advancers to the finals 2015 82% 2010-2014 #2’s: 13% of the advancers to the finals 2015 14% 2010-2014 #3’s: 5% of the advancers to the finals 2015 4% 2010-2014 #4’s: 1% of the advancers to the finals 2015 0% Finals: 2010-2014 #1’s: exactly 13 every year (93% of all champions) 2015 12 2010-2014 #2’s: exactly 1 champ every year (7% of all champions) 2015 2 2010-2014 #3’s: 0-7 record (no champions) 2015 0 2010-2014 #4’s: 0-2 record (no champions) 2015 0 Other than a very modest uptick in first round upsets (and that is probably well within the range of the prior five years) this year played out almost exactly true to form. If Vegas ever posts lines on IHSAA Finals the Indianamat readers will clean up.
  6. If you are still having to boo her at 7, it is obviously because your booing at 6 was not strong enough. We have all failed. I fear she has been coddled and America will suffer for it.
  7. Reading through the thread again I am struck by a different thought. I don't think it is about sissification or political correctness. I think it is about self centered-ness. The pro-booing statements often center around "I paid my money", "I have a right to" and "I am toughening them up". These fans seems to think the competition is for them and about them. I have a different opinion. It is okay to have an unexpressed thought when watching other people compete. You are not paying your money to the athlete in this case. You are paying the barely comprehensibly small sum of $8 to defray some of the cost of holding the event at an NBA arena. So do not use the payment argument as justification. Admit it to yourself and us. It is about you.
  8. but I just noticed that I got the field percentage right, but the W/L backward. 262-264 is what I should have typed. with the brothers 2 matches over 500 the field has to be 2 under. Sorry for the confusion.
  9. only if the field includes the Brothers, which in my calculations it does not. But if you add back in the Brothers W/L then you get .500
  10. Lee. Gave up his first points of the season in quarterfinals...and looked like he could spit nails after. No one else ever looked close to scoring, never mind winning.
  11. Perhaps a re-read of my post is in order. It would suggest that kid gets candy...and your begrudging respect. More importantly, if you choose trick, are you upset when they egg your house?
  12. In Y2's preview article: 2015 State Finals: Takedown and Release: he highlighted 7 pairs of brothers competing in the meet. Let's revisit and see how they did: Collectively they went 18-16 or .529 (barely better than the field 264-262 or .498) 7 failed to make it past Friday night 1 8th place finisher 1 7th place finisher 1 4th place finisher 1 3rd place finisher 2 2nd place finishers 1 1st place finisher I am left to wonder a number of things that perhaps the fine people of this forum can help answer. Who are the most successful brothers in state history for a career? For a season? Has there ever been undefeated brothers? Or brother state champs in the same season? Or across seasons? How about for more than two brothers? sorry, got a weird message on the first post that made it seem as though it hadn't worked. Ignore this dupe.
  13. In Y2's article: 2015 State Finals: Take Down and Release he highlighted 7 pairs of brothers in the meet. Lets revisit those brothers and see how they did: Collectively they went 18-16 or .529 (slightly better than the field 264-262 or .498) 7 failed to make it past Friday night 1 8th place finisher 1 7th place finisher 1 4th place finisher 1 3rd place finisher 2 2nd place finishers 1 1st place finisher I am wondering who are the most decorated brothers in Indiana history? And who are the most decorated in a season? Has there ever been brother undefeateds in the same season? Or brother champs? How about more than two in a single season?
  14. I have to play devil's advocate here. What is wrong with stalling and then winning by a point in overtime? It seems to me that it is a viable (though boring) strategy. We may not find it terribly entertaining (actually got bored during some of the first few finals where it seemed no one wanted to take a shot and get caught making a mistake). But it is perfectly legal (to a point). And if it is deemed excessive by the ref, then there is a remedy proscribed by the rules. What it seems to come down to is whether you personally think the ref should have administered the remedy. No one booed at Dean Smith's funeral or at the next NC basketball game even though he invented the four corners "offense". Given the rules of the game at the time it was perfectly legal. Since it was boring, they changed the rules. But, there is a key difference between top level NCAA revenue sports and high school sports. High School sports are not true big revenue generators with compensated athletes (and the courts are now determining the right level of compensation) like NCAA basketball. Correct me if I am wrong here, but if an athlete uses his brain along with his brawn to win within the rules, then they should be applauded even if the win does not please our sense of aesthetics.
  15. Can I have an Amen? I was amazed that kids got booed because of injury. The attitude around me seemed to be "if it is my kid then it is legitimate. If it is anyone else then they are faking it and just looking for a little rest." Assuming you know anything about the internal thought process of the kids on the mat is just plain wrong. And is it really likely that not a single kid you do not follow did not get injured? Because it sure seemed that was the assumption some fans (the poor sports) were making by booing every injury not related to their team or kid.
  16. But even at 300 you get all of the top rated Illinois teams. It is under 150 miles to Oak Park, Montini, Sandburg, Glenbard North, and Marmion. And almost all of Ohio is within 300 miles of Mishawaka. Would love to see that happen.
  17. Lee. And who would win between the Lees for the chance to face Red?
  18. I know nothing about wrestling and even I could tell what an amazing display of grit, guts, mental and physical toughness I was witnessing every time Stevenson took the mat. That he would always choose down and then crawl to the center told you all you need to know about his compromised body. But absolutely nothing would compromise his mind.
  19. I love your enthusiasm and advocacy. You've got Coy. I'll take Lee. We both find out in 48 hours.
  20. 1. Nick Lee 2. The one that landed my wife 3. The IHSAA Pink Shoe Lady 4. My age plus 11 (can barely type at this point) 5. On everything, but my cereal
  21. I intend to add a sympathy pound by the end of lunch today. And I probably won't stop there.
