As for the Super Bowl, absolutely fine with me. Currently I have President's Day off but curious to see if that remains, especially if Goodell gets it accomplished. I'm good having wrestling state finals Friday & Saturday and then probably a youth wrestling tournament Sunday morning to afternoon followed up by a Super Bowl party that night. Definitely need that extra day of rest. Is that also the Daytona 500 time line too? Might catch the end before the Super Bowl.

I feel it's going to lead to what I call a freestyle mindset in folkstyle. Say Wrestler A is great on his/her feet but not as good on the mat. Wrestler A gets a takedown but it's not likely leading to near fall. Wrestler A is going to cut right away and smartly so. What used to be a 4-2 lead is now 6-2. Guessing choice is going to be more neutral than top & bottom. I felt mat wrestling was a great equalizer for those not as good on their feet. In that prior example, if the other wrestler down 4-2 gets choice & gets a reversal, we are tied. Instead down 2. Just feel it will lead to less mat wrestling & more neutral to avoid mat wrestling. If they make options for period 2 top, bottom or defer and period 3 just top & bottom, then I'd be ok with it.

Been saying for a while the top of this sport, and most sports, is becoming a little less accessible to blue-collar wrestlers/families than it used to be.  Affordable access to wrestling opportunities and just simply the ability to travel (since many have parents who work a lot) is becoming hard for some families to overcome.  Especially when certain events and academies are not within a short drive from the location you live in.

It's awesome that some kids have the opportunity to make a major jump in their skill level.  But a decent percentage of wrestlers are limited in what their family can do and really have to search for what rare options may present themselves if they want to make decent gains in their ability.  Sometimes coaches have to be creative as well in order to help those kids get some type of opportunity.  When the demographic of a large percentage of your team is within that socio-economic situation, obviously finding enough avenues to help them becomes a little more daunting. For several coaches, there isn't much of an off season anymore to start with, and then add on to that the legwork you'll also be putting into finding ways to help those types of wrestlers out so they can "shrink the talent gap."

Time to pump up #The#1County this offseason & next season as the bar has been set. Throw in the ACAC & NE8 along with the Jay County Sectional & Regional and FW Semi State! Watch out for those WarriorRTC, The Fort Hammers, and Madmen wrestlers. They're going to be coming! The Northeast will rise again!

I can only speak for Adams Central, but the culture isn't just wrestling. The culture goes throughout the athletic department and in the classroom. I feel all 3 sports seasons try to work together to share the athletes & there has been a huge focus on the weight training end of being multiple sport athletes. There are a few wrestlers that wrestle year round, but more 2-3 sport athletes on the roster. The goal seems to be focusing on the team state duals, competing with the normal wrestling powers at sectional & regional in team standings, and then hopefully a few state qualifiers. If those qualifiers are just wrestling all year, then hopefully state placers. Though this year was abnormal with no qualifiers, it has worked out for the most part. 3 straight runner up finishes in football, 2 straight team state dual runner ups, won the conference team duals & individual tournament this year, and solid years in spring sports. Plus the prior 25 or so straight years of having a state qualifier in wrestling before this season.

They need to let the schools sell tickets in allotments. I bought tickets from the school for the football championship game as they were cheaper than Ticketmaster. This would hopefully get the qualifiers supporters good seating. These should be offered earlier than other tickets. Then have lower sections still available to be reserved & upper levels be general admission.
