  1. Needs to be in the main arena like the FW SS is and not the expo hall.
  2. What's the IHSAA's excuse for not adopting it (IHSWCA Team State duals) this year? Might become just as popular as the basketball tournament?
  3. Specifically a kid from the Ohio side of the line about a mile or less from the line moves to the other side into Indiana.
  4. What about out of state less than a mile?
  5. Gotcha, I've never been but saw the Sq footage listed.
  6. Just another reason why the IHSAA needs to recognize it and not have it count against the dual amounts for scheduling & treat it like the individual tournament in that regard. You can then have the 4 finals all on the same day at the same location. Have it spread out for other rounds.
  7. Just having the tie & starting in Indiana is enough. Yes he's done more in MN than IN, but it's a claim to fame. Once a Hoosier always as Hoosier in my book.
  8. Thankful for what he has done for my Minnesota Golden Gophers wrestling squad. Also for what he has done for Indiana wrestling & then Minnesota wrestling. No one can forget his Gold medal performance at the Olympics for the USA either. With that being said, sucks he's retiring. Another Freestyle Gold or maybe trying Greco would have been cool.
  9. I'm not talking about having the classed individual champions compete in a tournament of champions. Two separate individual tournament series. One in February classed and one in March single class. You'd have different opponents for the most part. As for the team state duals, no that is definitely not what I'm meaning. Those are more legitimate than our current IHSAA team champion method. I'm saying that Mishawaka, Mater Dei, and such are prestigious tournaments compared to a Jet Invite for example. However, being a Mishawaka champion isn't the same as an IHSAA state champion. I'd put being a 1A champion in the regards of a Mishawaka champion, but not an IHSAA single class champion.
  10. I guess my mindset is different than most. I don't see being a 1A or etc champ any different than a Mishawaka champ or such. It's prestigious but not the ultimate goal. It would be a goal & something celebrated at the 1A & most 2A programs outside of Bellmont & others in their caliber. Just like the classed team state duals have become for AC, PH, and etc. It was hard to make it to the single class team state duals with Bellmont & Yorktown. Not being bound by points rule & recognized by the IHSAA regardless if they or the IHSWCA run it. However I'd limit it to just IHSWCA outside of the IHSAA in the not being bound category.
  11. I'm meaning that it would be classified as the "Tournament Series" and not against the 18 points or whatever it is now for duals & tournaments. The team state dual tournament ran like football, basketball, baseball, and etc along with a classed individual tournament, and a single class individual tournament should all be exempt from the points rule. I believe a classed individual tournament added would benefit 2A/1A schools participation. It would be a good warm up for 3A/4A schools for our single class tournament.
  12. Why I have been wanting a change to the NFHS/IHSAA rules on the point system for competitions.
  13. I've said this prior but why not turn events like Mishawaka & Mater Dei into 1A/2A individual state & 3A/4A individual state or a part of it. This should be an additional tournament series with the single class during the season & sanctioned by IHSAA and/or IHSWCA.
  14. Side question, but where are ares to learn Freestyle and Greco? I know there are a few in my area that participate but not a lot on the Indiana side. Folkstyle is a foreign concept itself on the Ohio side of my area (roundball lovers).
  15. Instead of worrying about the travel rule, how about we get rid of the pts/tournament rule or substantially increase the limit to 1.5 or 2x the current. The team state duals should be like the football & basketball tournaments. We should have a classed individual tournament and a single class individual tournament after the classed. Girls tournaments should have no affect on points for the boys tournament. Let girls compete in both if they choose & earn their way.
  16. I like this idea as an addition to the single class individual tournament. Wish this could happen between team state duals and the single class individual tournament instead of an offseason event. Definitely leave it with the IHSWCA and not the IHSAA. Also like the Frosh/Soph tournament as an offseason event.
  17. Gotcha, the introduction as I re-watched last night had said both were 3rd year wrestlers. Still impressive for a 4th year wrestler as well.
  18. Don't forget that the runner up also was in his 3rd year as well. Major accomplishment of both. Fishback locked up the semi state over my Bagubas (Flying Jets) the week before in OT. Clifford was in on a single leg at the end of regulation that could have altered the bracket besides the semi state if he converted.
  19. One step at a time. We got over the Friday hurdle, now let's improve the 5th-8th placements into 1st-4th.
  20. I'd love to see a classed individual tournament sometime between the classed team dual tournament and the single class individual tournament. I'd like to see at the single class individual tournament an overall team champion like we have but also the highest point scoring teams by class & award them too.
  21. My favorite year will be when FW & NC are the top 2 performing semi states. #EasternIndiana
  22. The Fort Wrestling Club/Facility and Warrior RTC is already making the difference. Heck Madman with Tim Myers and Tony Abbott's training as well.
