True....I consider anything south of Wells County Kentucky.
Lol. I like the Jay County people involved in wrestling and others. I have to be careful because I work in Adams, Wells, and Jay Counties. Yes, we have a name for Jay County besides its actual name and refers to the state you mentioned. There are some areas in southern Adams & Wells County where the dialect changes if you know what I mean. Definitely anything south of Indy is referred to as Northern Kentucky up here .

That's a huge issue as I'm trying to figure out our offseason schedule right now. Of everyone on our high school and middle school teams, I only know of four guys that aren't in a spring sport. Two of them work, and the other two are freshmen that might end up doing a sport. So now I need to figure out when to start, or if any guys doing track or baseball would also want to get a wrestling workout in every week. And then the second spring sports gets out, I have to schedule around football and cross country as best I can. All while having to make sure the gym is available since we won't have our new wrestling space til the fall.
Yes, I'm trying to figure something out for my youth kids in Ohio. I'd love to get some of the Indiana coaches to get their hands on them. Think they'd realize what I've learned from those guys is what I'm trying to teach them.

First congrats to Dickman. Kid is a hammer and the only reason he’s not a lock as a future four timer is all the young hammers coming up with him.
I never said Dickman wouldn’t win, no one was ever disrespecting Dickman. I only argued the rankings since Horn had the recent head to head and your logic of him having a tougher schedule was the only reasoning you had for him being ranked over a loss he took.
At first I was just arguing rankings, but my biggest issue I had with you is how you went on and on about how Dickman and Brownsburg were super disrespected. Dude, your guys have your own beat writer on this sight. You thinking Brownsburg was disrespected is like the Chiefs and Georgia claiming no one believed in them.
What probably pisses me off the most are all the Brownsburg posters on here puffing their chests out about their program, when they’re all involved with a big rich school that can afford a $100 million expansion for the school, with a lot obviously going to the wrestling program. Basically bragging about all the opportunities Brownsburg has, while schools like South Adams operate out of a closet, have no support, and still have to wrestle the same sport as you guys. I’ll admit I’m jealous of the opportunity Brownsburg has and the resources poured into the program. I’m just tired of my rich neighbor complaining that the caviar is t fresh enough.
Again congrats to Dickman, wish him all the best the next three years.
Yep, this is what most do not realize about the FW semi state. We have wrestlers who do much more than wrestling in schools that are much smaller. The schools that carried the semi state back in the day are very much smaller than the likes of Brownsburg, Crown Point, and Center Grove. Hell if we combine all 3 Adams County schools we may still be smaller than the big schools down by Indy. I'll take having 3 straight 1A football appearances in the finals with maybe a 4th this upcoming fall with some qualifiers and maybe a couple placers at this point from our county. Also take the 1A team dual results for AC & SA going above their seeds. Bellmont has done well in 2A as of late even being a former shell of themselves. Plus the baseball teams have had a little success too. We will keep feeding the country with crops & livestock as well!

Finals with the champion semi state in bold
106- Evansville x2
113- Evansville x2
120- Evansville and ECC
126- New Castle and Evansville
132-Evansville x2
138- ECC and Evansville
145-ECC and Evansville
152-New Castle and Evansville
160-ECC and Evansville
170-ECC and Evansville
182-ECC and Fort Wayne
195- Evansville x2
220-ECC X2
285- Evansville x2
Finals' Totals
Evansville 6 champs with 16 in the finals
ECC 6 champs with 8 in the finals
New Castle 2 champs with 2 in the finals
Fort Wayne 0 champs with 1 in the finals
It's time the IHSAA reconfigures our semi states. Send Brownsburg to Fort Wayne and Center Grove to New Castle!
No keep Brownsburg where they are at. If anything, send Wawasee & Warsaw to Ft Wayne and Tippy Valley. Just odd they go to ECC. I know I was disappointed in the Ft Wayne Semi State performance, but maybe Evansville just had an outstanding tournament and we were the tough luck recipients. I think our smaller schools are going to have to buy into the off season RTCs we finally have. Feel like part of Adams County & maybe Wells is that our kids are into so many activities already. We have football/cross country/tennis in the fall, baseball/track in spring, and then 4H/farm responsibilities from spring through fall as well. Especially schools like Adams Central, South Adams, Southern Wells, and Bluffton. Without multi sport athletes, the schools wouldn't have teams in fall & spring. Guess we have to find time to fit in more off-season wrestling somewhere. Besides kids trying to be kids & earning some $ to spend.

Like keeping the classes together, but the split session on Friday needs to go. We need to get wrestle backs from sectional to state whether that means adding another week between sectionals & regionals to do so. Start Friday morning at 9 and have wrestle backs to 3rd. Friday make it 16 to 12 then 12 to 8 to wrap Friday night up.

Fort Wayne drew Evansville 7/14 weights on Friday night including 2 of our stronger weights in 106 and 126. All things considered I think we are still going in the right direction.
True, which makes it worse that Evansville is the leader. There are 3 schools in East Chicago, and a couple sectionals/regionals out of New Castle I'd like to see do well. Basically Elkhart County down to Madison County and Madison County to Henry & Wayne County up to Steuben County and everywhere in between with the FW semi state having Miami, Howard, & Fulton Counties.

Fret not. Next year we will get 30
Hope so! Like to see more Jay County Sectional participants earning medals and qualifying for state next year. Same with EACS wrestlers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but just 1 wrestler qualified for state out of the 4 schools. At least he is earning a medal and is undefeated so far going into this morning.

25 medals. You spoke too soon
25-31 though. Not even 2 medals per weight class if you break it down that way. It's been better and it's been worse, but just feels like a slip again. Kudos to all 56 that represented the FW Semi State. Maybe having just 2 local winners in 3 County area (Adams, Jay, & Wells) with also 1 from EACS makes it feel worse than it is.

Shout out to Wurm from AC! 2nd year wrestling after his freshman year was spent on the hardwood. Not only qualifying for state but finishing 2nd today was impressive. Always say AC has some decent wrestlers on the hardwood as most have a hard time choosing between the two after middle school.

Is it just me or does it seem like the Adams County kids are struggling in top & bottom more this postseason than others? All 3 schools (Bellmont, AC, & SA) look really good neutral but aren't riding on top or getting out/reversals on bottom. Though Kukelhahn has a great switch.

I got a very reliable source told me at Sectionals, the Fort Wayne Colosseum was willing to work with the IHSAA and work around the Komet game or move the game to a different weekend, but Faulkins just said to the Colosseum , "no,we have other options."
No surprise on that one.

Lucas Oil?! Man, if they were hosting there, we could probably put 20+ mats down. Now, how could we change the format of individual state to necessitate putting down 20+ mats...hmm...
Kidding...at least in the sense of me trying to hijack the thread. Not kidding about classing the individual tournament. Never kidding about that...
Somewhat of a blueprint by the MHSAA for venue & setup. Holds 70,000 so plenty of space for good seats.

I don't know if you ever read anything or just spout off to spout off.
Hotel rooms are being booked solid for 2024 in downtown Indy at rates that are 3-5X what they normally are. The NBA books WHOLE hotels for all their people. Not sure if you have ever taken a gander at a map, but Lucas Oil Stadium is in downtown Indy. On top of the NBA All-Star game having some fan festivities at Lucas Oil Stadium no school or fan will want to attend state within the Indianapolis area that weekend due to the high price increases. This also includes hotels on the outskirts of Indianapolis. I would love to not have to pay more than my mortgage for one night at state.
I understand you want to make this some crazy conspiracy theory about the IHSAA, but this is out of their control as the city of Indianapolis, Pacers, and others are behind the All-Star game coming to Indy.
With the wrestling state finals being smack dab in the middle of championship season it is also extremely difficult for the IHSAA to move the date.
As much as I want to live in fantasy land with the ability to move the dates or use one of the more centralized locations the reality is the best options are either Fort Wayne or Evansville.
Not saying one year, but every year! The whatever I want to be named today venue doesn't want wrestling there. Plain and simple. Every year we have seating argument debates and lotteries for suites. Glad to know I get under your skin/annoy you to no end every year though! The hotel prices are always high for football state, wrestling, and basketball. Yes the NBA makes it 3-5x worse. However, being centrally located, means the fan doesn't have to stay overnight necessarily unlike Evansville & Ft Wayne for others. The only IHSAA "conspiracy" is they knew this well in advance and decided to be reactive instead of proactive. Once again, it's not the basketball tournament (they've also screwed up that again) so it doesn't matter to them like it should.
LOS would allow for more mats and push wrestle backs instead of Friday night eliminating some fans & wrestlers attending on Saturday. That's one thing MHSAA seems to have done nicely. I'm sure many here will complain it's too far from the action. I'd prefer to have a birdseye view instead that isn't in a suite. I'm sure there is more scheduling bs like the basketball arena as well that would have to be looked at as well.

No there isn't and no one, including the schools want to pay the 3x hotel rates that are already out there for that weekend in Indy. No way anyone would want to be in Indy that weekend for anything other than basketball.
Rather have it in LOS every year over whatever the heck they decide to re-name every other day where the Pacers play.

A bit torn as if it's in Ft Wayne, it will be close to attend. However part of the fun is getting away from the area. Evansville is forever away from here and not desirable.

7 classes in Evansville and 7 classes in FW. Wed-Thurs in Evansville and Fri-Sat Fort Wayne. That's what the IHSAA would love but know they wouldn't get away with.
