The projected roster and weight classes should be on the website in the next week. You're correct about the new weights. We return the top four weights from last year, all with 30+ wins, but there's only three weight classes for them.
Very frustrating! The weight classes for the NFHS are ridiculous for 12, 13, & 14 weight class options. I'd actually like to see 15 with weights back to the last round of 14 we had & adding a 250lb class.

Curious to see if the weights are correct at the end of the line up for AC. The new weight classes (awful in my opinion) did the team 0 favors. See if the rumors I have been told are true or not.

I sat on the committee that was present when these changes were made.
My thoughts after an eye-opening day in Indianapolis:
-The "strength" of regionals had zero effect on decisions.
-The IHSAA does not have any intention to "balance" the semi-states.
-Most of the "data" driving the decisions was based on the number of beating hearts entered at each weight at each sectional and attempting to shift schools to keep them as even as possible. Basically 0.0% of the input was based on advancement results from previous years.
I'm shocked

The Veazy news hurts for the FW semi state but best of luck to him as he heads off to attain bigger dreams. Represent NE Indiana well!

Think you have to go the route of PLL in lacrosse. Traveling league with teams before setting up home cities. I'd like to see it be the 3 styles together for each club. Have folkstyle matches, freestyle matches, and Greco-Roman matches. Heck even create what I call Combined Style matches where the individual match has a guaranteed 3 periods. One period Greco-Roman, one freestyle, and one folkstyle.

An idea for the future of doing this by semi state for 1A & 2A. Have the top 8 autos and then the 4 winners of the invitationals of each semi state get the wildcards. Have the committee decide the rankings & matchups of the 12.

Love Indiana born and Gopher legend Gable winning, but tons of respect & love to Indiana raised & Michigan man Mason. Mason could you possibly play some LB for my beloved Wolverines football team? Yeah that's right, I'm a Minnesota wrestling fan and avid Michigan football fan! Indiana as a state is the HWT capital!

Well original message was correct for Penn St. Either way, it's one of the 3 evil empires (PSU, Iowa, & OKST). Going to be way into irrelevance as a Gopher fan.

Penn State doesn’t “Bid”. The coaching staff doesn’t get involved in NIL. They talk to recruits and potential transfers about wrestling, that’s all.
Like I said before in this thread, PSU staff & boosters were all over his parents at the tournament per another Minnesota wrestling parent. Nagao is going to the highest bidder and will announce today. All coaches directly or indirectly are involved in this NIL $ free agency. Some just have more connections & cash to distance themselves is all. The NCAA is a sham at this point. It's basically another type of minor league system at this point.

Ok. That’s that. Good wrestler. And if one of the haves want him? They can give the man about anything he wants.
Sounds like Nagao has been asking the other destinations how much $ he can get. Iowa may have just outbid PSU for his services. Has to put a lot of pressure on top of the normal for the young man.

I definitely hate it for a school or program, to bring a kid into their ,program by a vigilant coach ,where he was a relative unknown, and give him a stage to perform, and then stolen by a coach who knew nothing about him. Because he has money. Lazy man recruiting.
Going to be an Iowa vs Penn State sport. Maybe Oklahoma State still has some Pickens $ left. Doubt WB puts much into Nebraska. Not sure how my Gophers are going to compete. Guess Michigan & Ohio State will benefit. Can't complain against Michigan as a Michigan football fan.

Kinda what started the confirmation from a parent that has a kid that's a backup this year. I asked if it was $ bc Minnesota has history & tradition of winning during J's time. Rumor all along had been PSU and her stating that from her son is should be solid, but we will know for sure when he officially states it himself. Just depressing as a Minnesota wrestling fan.
Purdue could take more from us with Leroy on staff now.

Purdue in the running
He's going to Penn State per the private FB message I got from a Minnesota wrestling parent. Penn State is supposedly offering a 6 figure NIL deal and cornered his parents at NCAA's on it. Guess he tearfully told the team he was transferring to PSU to help his family.

Does Evansville have a Portillo’s and or Popeye’s: asking for a friend?? Are there any Aviaries or bird sanctuaries. My owls, hawks, osprey, and falcons will need a place to stay. Can’t leave’em in Elkhart. Although I bet the vermin count is high here. The last time I went to Evansville I kept saying Zirklebach to everyone I saw. They knew Gabe but didn’t know why I kept saying Zirklebach. They didn’t know but I was 17 and only knew German, French and Swahili: No Evansvillese. So I thought if I said Zirklebach and nodded and tossed in a Weinzaple they would decipher what I was trying to convey. God knows I couldn’t cut thru the dialects. I thought I was in West Virginia for a few hours. Side note. I went to Manchester College. I ate more Pizza King than I’d like to admit over those 4 and a 1/2 years. Haven’t had a slice since 1996. That stuff should be handled by Hazmat.
You should have said Bellmont and waited to see what happened.

In Fort Wayne we are in blackout areas of
Cubs, Tigers, White Sox, and Reds
That's half the MLB! Plus only crappy cable/streaming services carry Marquee network for Cubs games.Surprised the Guardians weren't blacked out. Oh well, Go Marlins!

Are we sure Whattaburger "meat" is actually meat? If you pin me as a veggie burger guy you probably should have your eyes examined.
Unfortunately I had to take the rabbit food off of my burger as they didn't make it correctly.
You passed! Never know if someone will play a dirty trick like that on you.

I was hoping to come back and find that there had been an announcement, but could only learn that Evansville has .1 lower average Trip Advisor Restaurant Scores (did you check bowling alleys too?). What an important stat from a truly reputable source!!
Oh yeah, and so many people not involved in the process seem to know everything about it. I don't have time to check social media activity for wrestling in the other 49 states (again, sooo relevant!) but I did learn that Wrestling is Not in the IHSAA's Top 4 sports.
The data used for some of these points is comical. It makes for a lot of "experts"Your lucky if they acknowledge wrestling as a sport compared to the other 3. No one said anything for wrestling in 49 states. It was said about basketball. I know it's hard to comprehend that. We all know any other team sport or individual sport would have had an announcement long before now. Not surprising for an organization that believes the random draw is the best method. About as bad as their cluster system beforehand. Don't even get the round ball fans started on classing sports. Every logical process presented by the coaches gets shot down. Heck we should be glad they're considering having a state final at all or getting an announcement before or during the state series at this point. Only hope is that by taking so long they don't botch it in some shape or form.

Because their production team misspells something is your reasoning? The production team isn't quite ESPN and yes I've been a part of productions for both ESPN and the IHSAA so I know the difference.
Once again, getting a venue for a one year deal is not easy especially when the three venues in the talks all have hockey and/or basketball going on along with their usual assortment of Disney on Ice and other events.
You miss the in 49 states? That should have been the only reason. The errors just show the effort for simple tasks let alone larger tasks. We all know these venues have hockey & basketball. Yes they have Disney on ice & etc as well. I'm not sure I'd trust them to determine between the community building or boy scout barn for youth practice. You know those buildings have wedding receptions, community government meetings, 4H meetings, and scout meetings to name just a few.

And what evidence do you have of this?
Just look on social media. In 49 other states.... What more do you need? Just wait until they put a typographical error or mistake on the big screen like they have in football for wrestling. Pretty sad they didn't have the right name for a Head Coach of a state finalists team. Then they couldn't spell the school name of a state finalist school. I repeat this was for football, the 2nd loved sport. Met Friday, but no announcement. Heck thought we would get an announcement after the wrestling state finals and zilch. That tells me what I need to know already.

Wrestling is one of the big four sports for the IHSAA. The admins love our state finals and are doing their best to not bunch it up with other state finals. They all want to attend because it's such a cool event.
It's not the golden child and will never be. If the basketball tournament would have to relocate, they'd have made the announcement as soon as possible. Doesn't mean they don't think our tournament is cool, just means it's lower I'm the ranks of the main 4.

True, but why should that limit the kids from having an opportunity like the post above? Let me guess, the state associations would really want 13 but are having a hard time justifying it. This sport is both a team & individual sport as you know. There would be plenty of 250 lbers to go along with 215/220 & Hwts. I'd love having more linemen or those big fullbacks/running backs on the mat to get better for football and learn lessons in life from wrestling. Definitely needs to be tweaks on duals vs individual tournaments for sure. This community in the state is one of the few that can seed a tournament and definitely could figure it out without the NFHS or IHSAA and their outdated methods.
