  1. If I remember correctly, he was a very good youth football player and athlete when I helped coach. Prayers to him and his family and for a speedy recovery.
  2. Seems like the person in charge is pretty low class in hosting the event. I guess Shenandoah was/is scheduled to take part in it. He basically threw the coach under the bus for considering to drop out. I'm sure that coach is here and I would not blame him for the reason that was given by the Ohio goofball (probably a Suckeyes fan). I stuck up for our Hoosier brethren. Even other Ohio posters called this guy out. See how he responds when I questioned how he can't entice more of our historically dominant teams to attend.
  3. Just my imo, but to increase interest in the sport at various schools, I would follow high school football. Decrease the super duals and individual tournaments. Set a weekday like Thursday that the only event is wrestling in the school for a 1 on 1 dual meet. The biggest matches in our area are the 1 on 1 duals. Not necessarily the invitational types or super duals.
  4. Definitely a football stud. Still remember in DFL running across the whole field to tackle him from behind while his big brother was lead blocking. I had two bruises around the sternum from each one of their cleats from it.
  5. How many schools have had matches? Snider, Northwood, Concordia, Garrett, Eastbrook, and Adams Central had extended football seasons that have pushed the schedule back.
  6. Sorry this Internet thing is quite new to us Adams County folk.
  7. Yeah I'm still waiting for Indiana to be on one time. You know that's why we went to DST. Such a lie. I'd be in favor of Indiana completely going to Central time and I live near Ohio which is also Eastern like most of our state. I can catch up on Ohio sports highlights and then catch Indiana highlights.
  8. Doesn't intrigue you which teams are better all around, whether stuck to one line up like individual or multiple line ups with weights shifted?
  9. We have the IHSAA individual results team champions and IHSWCA team dual champions. Why not score points of some sort to connect the two and have an overall team champion? For those who like "the everyone gets a trophy" category, you could do it by class as well. Thoughts?
  10. Someone should set up Mt Vernon vs Angola in some sport. Better make the venue halfway.
  11. Understand your point on having two week day events. Still think one of those two days would be beneficial to mark as wrestling ' s day. Also agree on the forfeits as well.
  12. Yes indeed. I'd like having a Tuesday and Thursday team dual schedule. I also think conferences could align a schedule where the better teams can face off towards the end of the team dual schedule. I'm sure that wouldn't necessarily be economical on the travel budget. Also the whole IHSAA schedule mandates hurt as well.
  13. Too many super duals or invitation style tournaments. Need more regular duals. Why are football and basketball games heavily attended? It's because you have one fanbase vs another to build a rivalry type atmosphere. Have a set day or days each week like football Friday nights. The team duals need to be featured just as much as individual events.
  14. It's definitely a difficult sport mentally as it is physically. All kids hate cutting weight to some degree and that's mostly the mental aspect. Many can become frustrated in getting techniques down after practicing many repetitions. Many don't realize how close they really are to their goals and what progress they make. My opinion is they put way too much stock in the win/loss column. Hard to get kids and adults to focus on the small details of improvement. The wins will come if you keep chopping wood.
  15. Watching Greco, it is hard to believe we can't find athletes to be competitive in all classes? Is it just because it isn't what we've grown up with, coaching, or just that far behind? All 3 reasons?
  16. So is the reason he is skipping is to get a better Olympic shot by enrolling into college earlier? Why rush it?
  17. Yeah, I'd say 132 to 160 would probably be my estimate of the majority of teams' rooms. With all the media coverage about bigger, faster, stronger athletes and obesity being a stronger trend, will those weights shift up in 15 or so years? I'll have to find my list when I jotted down classes for 15 + classes. I definitely changes some classes through trying to spread out the classes so that they were incremental throughout.
  18. I wouldn't be opposed to that, but aren't the trends showing future kids will be heavier? That's why I proposed 250 besides it is halfway between the other 2 with the biggest discrepancy. I'd be for 17 weight classes, but that's not realistic when 14 is hard to reach for some.
  19. Wouldn't it be easier to use the first tiebreaker as # of matches won? Then a double forfeit tie use the current tiebreakers. There is a large gap between HWT and 220. Why not have a 250 lbs class?
  20. This stuff is why I made my earlier point. Fix the schedule and do it the right way IHSAA and quit "full nelsoning" the IHSWCA.
  21. Yes I know, I'm referring to where the thread is going though.
  22. All I wanted was a Web directory page for Indiana sports basically. The Internet phone book to find all sports sites/message boards for Indiana high school and youth sports.
