  1. Just curious, would it be possible to use both channels to cover all the mats say like semi state? I know that probably takes more people than available as you need two more announcers and camera guys to do so besides enough media room at host event. It would be awesome if the IHSAA would give you access to the finals. Great job though, and I even watched roundball tonight for a bit.
  2. Excellent job as always. You can listen to WZBD for Bellmont coverage while also tuning into The Berne Witness for AC and SA as well as Bellmont, Bluffton, Norwell, SW, and Jay County.
  3. https://www.decaturdailydemocrat.com/content/adams-central-wrestlers-exemplify-baguba-mentality?fbclid=IwAR2m8EDWQIoPsbUuL7Hroc6nc8Gz-BP5ayC2O3L4HaDSkA-4EZGncONxZzA
  4. Obviously they (IHSAA) would lock up SEEDED brackets. The one sport where brackets are actually seeded they pull this. They hate seeding anything.
  5. Without a doubt. Bellmont had more champions frequently in those times and AC had more placers. Late 00s to current has saw SA contribute though.
  6. During the IHSAA individual state finals? I think it would be interesting who the "class" individual team state champs would be for each class in this single class tournament. Obviously 3A would be one in the same as the IHSAA most years, but not always I guess.
  7. What are the numbers for the Team State Duals? Just curious? I think Indiana's #1 County (credit to WZBD for that name) would be very well represented.
  8. I know for certain that Crestview parents have asked. I guess some participated last year. If allowed, do you have information I could pass on to them? Thanks!
  9. It actually seemed less chaotic than the bracketed tournament in Liberty Center, OH. However, I think that is because most of the schools and parents involved have been around the sport and know how to run events. I have had some Ohio parents asking if I had the dates and how they could RSVP to these events. I'd have to ask my wife to be sure that all those inquiring are Crestview wrestlers (some may be Parkway/Wayne Trace/Van Wert/Lincolnview).
  10. Talk about chaos at these events. Was at Liberty Center Ohio last weekend. They had matchups on track, but didn't say what bracket just division. Made an announcement that they needed some coaches and wrestlers to report so they could make brackets and would let all of us know when brackets were released. Instead 2 mins later they call Division 1 16 man bracket to staging. Then tell us that 16 brackets will be before 8 man which makes sense. We scramble to find which bracket our wrestler is in. They have 3 mats divided in half for 6 wrestling areas. Last night I went to Bellmont for "rivals night" to watch my cousin's boys. Another type of chaos as parents try to matchup their kids and coach them based on age and weight. Mats divided into 4ths. Each mat for designated age level. Both had crammed seating and I saw both positive and negative situations at both types of events. Are the old AAU days over where you weigh in and are assigned your bracket and wrestle on a full mat? I've been away from this age group in wrestling so it's completely different than what I remember.
  11. Wish this could be set up like the FW SS for individual tournament. Hard to do with the Coliseum schedule though. I'd rather see 8 or 16 team format though.
  12. AC has it locked up it looks like if Track is right
  13. Wish he was on the football field for Coach Harbaugh
  14. Agree race not being a factor. My point is, how much does hair have an impact on one's ability? Little to none, and very little safety concerns. Like it or not, (even my young you should have a buzzcut/flattop thinking self) agrees this is ridiculous and going to hurt the sport we love. Kids are different today and most will be like the kid forfeiting instead of cutting the hair. Those kids will move on to basketball, hockey, and etc. This sport already has niche vibe that turns some away. Time to adapt and grow the sport.
  15. Like my previous post stated, I'm throwing this in the same category as singlet vs compression shorts & shirts. Time for this sport to evolve from the era of flat tops (trust me I'd prefer kids to have the flat tops of other styles but that's not realistic). The official is probably in the right on enforcing the rule but wrong on where it was. The racialized part comes from his past transgressions. My problem is the rule and others like it. Kids see that and say nah, I'll participate in something else that allows me to be myself. A lot of wrestling rules written and unwritten usually have little to do with how well you can wrestle and turns good athletes away. Time for more culture change!
  16. NFHS and its members like the IHSAA are stuck in 1950. Time has passed these organizations by and it's no wonder AAU and IMG, LaLumiere, and etc have started to take over. I'm not so sure that club sports wouldn't be such a bad idea anymore.
  17. Might be a loaded Sectional now. Defending champs Jay County, perennial champs Bellmont, occasional champ AC with Norwell coming back. Also the tough individuals of Bluffton, SA, & SW who bring decent squads some years.
  18. Thank you! My stepson attends school in Ohio while one of my cousins has boys attending in Indiana and another has boys currently in Indiana but moving to Ohio soon. Meanwhile my son will attend in Indiana in a few years.
  19. Questions for those in the know. Are AAU individual tournaments still the thing or is it elementary team duals or club wrestling individual or club wrestling team duals or all the above? Can Ohio wrestler participate in tournaments in Indiana and can Indiana wrestler participate in Ohio tournaments? What is required to do so? It's been a long time since those days so thanks for the helpful information!
  20. Bo ripping OSU's heart out was wonderful to watch. Especially in the Bucknuts back yard.
  21. Seems like a non story. Not much different than a girl who claims to be a girl on the team in a wrestling on the mat sense. The locker room and outing puts it in a gray area. Now the transgender from Texas is different and a real problem imo when it comes to competitive equality.
  22. Sounds like we should do an all-in format for teams filling 7+ weights. . Maybe make 4 classes to get even sectionals and the 8 sectional champs get split into 2 semi states in a quad. Best record moves on and tie breaker goes to head to head winner.
  23. Hope you are right. My biggest concern is that it becomes the Arena League compared to the NFL when talking about it vs UFC and etc. That's when it gets dicey. Think PA, OH, Iowa, and Oklahoma would be great starting locations. Make it a big time atmosphere somehow. Also maybe do it in the dead time of the sports year between June and September to attract more eyes and less competition.
