  1. Avon also was Sectional Champ, Regional Champ and Semi State Champ this year. 5th at team state. Beat Bloomington South, Franklin and Carroll at team state. Lost to Penn. Beat Brownsburg in a dual as well. I would say it is starting to come together?
  2. It is easy to pick 106 and 113 kids to be Freshman greats. 1 want to see 145 and up freshman greats. Avon Carson Brewer is my first pick. Avon Caben Hubner is my second pick. Last year at State Bryce B. 160 Bellmont, G Larson 220 Avon and O. Perkins 285 Oak Hill were the only 3 freshman above 160 at state? This year it stopped at 182 with Parris, Lawrenceburg and Hammond, Whiteland. Walton, BB placed at 170 and Rader qualified from Peru at 160. Any FR making it to state above that 160 line is hard to see. Parris was easier to see for most. You might have been laughed out of the gym picking any of the others, who proved a lot people wrong. Not sure if Tonte made it last year from PM? If so, it was a great accomplishment. Mappes a FR from Center Grove qualified at 152 this year and that also was a great accomplishment.
  3. Cathedral will be hard to beat at State. EMD, Warren, Brownsburg, Avon, Merrillville, Danville and Lowell all will score points that count.
  4. Helm 160 #3 and Elmore 182 #8 were in the first group of little kids that Coach Blevins started to coach. Coach Blevins has had Larson since K. Larson last year was the first SQ Freshman in school history, since 1968, and he did it at 220. Larson was 5th this year as sophomore. Miranda was the 2nd kid in school history to be SQ as a Freshman. He also has been in the program for a long time. Now Avon's BEST class will be showing up next year. And there are several behind them. Coach Blevins hard work will show up in the next few years.
  5. Avon Middle School North had 4 State Champs. Over all, Avon MS kids won 9 medals, including a 2nd place.
  6. Rypel's major was vs Larson at 220. 5TD and 1E vs 3E. Larson lost to Woods 3-0. It was 1-0 with 32 seconds left in RD3. Larson was 39-4. Lost to #1 at 195, #1 at 220, #2 at 220 and had a 7-6 lost to Kral the #3 at 220. I think Rypel wrestled anyone who would wrestle him. Never ran from a fight. I know some ran from him.
  7. Looking deeper, Clark AV and Mulkey BB have a good chance as well of making it to state next year. Owens BB also has a chance at state. Hendricks County may have the most medal winners next year.
  8. Next year I think there will be more. 7 that metaled will be back. Miranda AV and Gomez PL will be back as State qualifiers. Lee BB, Weaver BB, Henson AV lost in ticket round at SS and will be back. Avon also has 4 MS State Champs entering HS next year along with 5-8 other elite 8th graders. Helm AV, Elmore AV and Caudle DV will be gone.
  9. So Blue would be: Mills Konrath Bailey Torres Vaughn Laughlin Lawrence Berkebile Goering Walton Davison Tonte Larson Biddle ???
  10. Avon went 4-5, won at 113,160,182 and 220. Danville went 2-3 won at 120 and 126. Brownsburg went 2-2 won at 106 and 170. Plainfiels went 1-2 won at 285. Hendricks County will have 9 medal winners this year.
  11. It looks like the Mooresville Regional had 8 Champions. 3 qualified for state at 152, 170, 182, 220 and 285. 2 qualified at 106, 113, 120, 160 and 195. 1 qualified at 126. Shut out at 132, 138 and 145. Over all the Mooresville Regional dominated the Evansville SS.
  12. At 220, do not count out the 3 sophomores. Larson from Avon was there last year as a freshman. Only losses this year are to Woods, Rypel and Morrow. Ellis from Eastern Greentown lost in the ticket round last year at SS. He only has 2 losses this year, Hinkle and Guerra. Scroggs from Martinsville has a very impressive ISWA record and was once a Sports Illustrated spot light kid for wrestling. We will all see these 3 for a few more years.
  13. Rypel is a lock. His closet match was 11-3 to Larson at Avon. He could not turn Larson but won every TD. Larson is just a Sophomore but never went to his back once all year. Larson had a 3-0 loss to Woods, 1-0 with 30 seconds left. Rypel is the number 1 lock of the Tournament.
