How about the best wrestler that day. He wins he advances. The best have bad days. Not separating so called best kids to please the big programs. Separating big programs only helps them and takes away from smaller programs ability ro have success.

What people fail to realize when discussing bad ticket round matchups is that this is how we class wrestling and benefit small schools. With the current setup, it's a lot easier for a kid to pull one upset, or get one good draw, and make it to state. The odds of that kid going to state go way down if he pulls that upset or advances with a good draw, loses in the semis, and then has Tommy Gibbs in the new blood round.

Yes, Jay County-2 drew Carrol-1 at 4 weights. But Jay County-2 drew Peru-1 & Goshen-1 at 5 weights each. So it was pretty well distributed.

Now I don't know how often certain weight classes draw other regionals, but there are only 3 possibilities so a certain weight drawing the same regional 2, 3 or even 4 years in a row is not going to be that uncommon.

Again, I don't really care of the evenness, or Jay County getting good draws at other weights. It's just an observation about one weight at Fort Wayne in particular. Cause it's not 2,3,4 years in a row, it's now 10 out of 11 for that draw. Not saying anything about it's not random, or that they don't change anything, just maybe the draw button for this weight may be stuck.

I wonder if there's a difference this year with some of the new weights, or if they have the same formulas and just changed the weight numbers. Cause the Jay county 2 seed was consistently drawing Carroll for ticket round, which is why we knew once our guy got second at regional last year he was getting Veazy ticket round. So is that seeding the same for 175 this year, or is it actually going to be random?

Well look at that, Jay County 2 draws Carroll 1 at 175

Jay County 2's hit Peru 1's more often along with the vice versa or Jay County 1's hitting Peru 2's. That's why Jay County has had inflated state qualifier numbers for so many years.

My point wasn't that Jay County 2's get bad draws. My point was the draws are rarely random cause of the one example, and I was curious if the formula stays the same for 175 or if they change it up with new weights.

As with some of the prior years we will see just how much work they put into making the formula options actually “random.”

How do i create a profile for my wrestlers. I mean for example without using names. we beat a 175 from the Pac 2x in convincing fashion but we couldnt update that we beat that individual. And that not we want to update it to say we ness beat a person but so that when team state starts looking at rosters and who beat who for consideration for team state they can see those things.

Message a ranker, which in your case is TripleB, and let them know the results. If they think they deserve a profile, they will get one. Only admin can create profiles. Once they are added you can add individual results. You can always update and post dual results.

And maybe in some situations the coach may be talking about lifting the opponent’s head up rather than saying his wrestler’s head should be up.

    Okay, back to cliches.

Good mix of both for me, lift their head or our head.

Side note, this thread had me in my head all day Saturday. I'm still pretty new to the corner, and I say a lot of things in this thread lol.

Maybe being completely on top of the guy in like a grapevine position, then I would agree - hips in and head up. But body perpendicular from a half turn? Not convinced there.

The hips is part of it, but I also think it has to do with lifting the opponents head. Guys are looking at the shoulders to see if they're pinned and don't focus as much on lifting the head. Looking up brings everything up, including the arm holding the head.
