  1. Sliga beats Atwood 2-0, 0-3, 2-1
  2. They look like they will be a very strong tournament team again next year - with the IHSAA going away form the team dual meet format will they be re-introducing the Coaches Trophy format? Clearly PM is the early favorite.
  3. 1980-81 delta team won by 48.5. Have to think the 2003 EMD team had big differential with 5 in the finals (4 champs and 1 runner up) don't know how many they had place in total.
  4. Most impressed with Hanover Central. 2 great champions, going through 2returning, undefeated state champs, while overcoming the great loss the program suffers earlier in this season. Congratulations to a great program, and truly outstanding kids.
  5. I would agree that Sliga knew what was going on, can't imagine not feeling like you were in trouble if you were Berry.. Sliga is pretty used to wrestling from ther as he has such great penetration on his shots. I will say that I doubt that pin was part of the game plan his coaches at Fishers HS or CIA put in for him, but that is what champions do, take advantage of the situation. I'd also say, despite not having a big lead at that point, he seemed to be wrestling pretty effortlessly from neutral. I fully expected Berry to take top in second and go for the cradle.
  6. Obviously, the 3 returning state champs would be a good place to star Micic, Bradley and Sliga Bradley is the one with the most potential competition next year depending on where he and some of the other talented state placers wrestle next year
  7. Saw on a twitter feed that CIA had (and I can't confirm this) 21 kids place, with 4 champs and 7 runner ups. I'd have to say they are doing something right overthere. I haven't found any thing on any other academies - I can only assume Region Wrestling academy got at least a couple of champs with as well as Merrilleville SS did tonight.
  8. I say you gain one for sticking to your guns -- I on the other hand will completely cop-out and say any it will be great for either of these two hard working dedicated individuals to win (I'll be watching intensely for sure)
  9. Went from being one of the greatest Friday night match-ups to a real bummer of a reality check. Good luck getting healthy Cody. You've already got 2 titles, but you only have 1 spine!!!! Take care of yourself.
  10. Would be great if it were true (not for Clayton of course). From what I am hearing, I am pretty confident his injury will be keeping him from wrestling.
  11. How reliable is this information?
  12. I think it may come off a little better without the exclamation mark. Very understandable to be glad for a kid getting a chance to compete at state. Just very disappointing to hear about Phillips.
  13. If true seems like the subject line of this thread seems a little crass, considering it is announcing the unceremonious end to a great high school career. I hope he is OK, I can't imagine anything but a pretty serious injury could keep him out.
  14. Thread killer Haven't been on that long but seems to me that a high percentage of threads I post on end with my post. I blessed with knack for making the once interesting less interesting.
  15. An absolutely insane season, he also won Fargo and was runner up at senior nationals. By far that has to be the most accomplished season not ending with a state championship.
  16. It is easy to point to the champs after they have been crowned, but it takes a little more fortitude for these academies to put who their kids are prior to the start of the tournament. I for one am very curious to know who works out/supplements, their training at these schools/academies.
  17. In deed. I believe the met in the conference finals and a dual that year as well
  18. I'd agree that would make his margin of error closr to 10%. Very impressive
  19. Quote from: UCpatriots21 on Today at 01:12:10 PM Everyone saying he is overrated and not a hardworker. Im just saying you can argue with me when any of the other kids are a 2 time state champ, third place finisher and going to wrestle in the big ten at on of the nations best colleges. Zing! Dudes got a point
  20. I too find it interesting how quickly the tide turned on Phillips. The question no one seems to be asking, and that I want to know, is what is Phillips' injury and any word on if he is going to be able to wrestle this weekend? We have watched the kid for years now and he has shown nothing but toughness. When he lost for the first time in his high school career, at SS last year, he still got up on the podium. When he lost his chance to be a 4xer in the Semi's at state last year to a kid he dominated the year before, he still came back and wrestled the consolations to take 3rd. It seems to me if he were a head case, as some seem to be implying, those 2 losses last year would have been much more devastating than his loss at SS this year. I don't know the kid and really only saw him wrestle in the state tournament the last three years, but nothing I have seen from him would suggest he is a head case. All of this brings back my question, how serious is his injury? I sure hope he is able to wrestle -- I have said it on here before, the matchup between Ayersman and Phillips was the one I was most looking forward to this weekend.
  21. A 2011 semifinals re-match. Todd won it last year 3-2 Petrov in the last 3 years, Petrov has 3 losses, twice to Cody Phillips and once to Todd... I Say Petrov turns the tides and wins this years match-up 3-2
  22. Stevenson is a great pick for this topic, good example of bad luck. Not many have victories over 2 state champs (possibly 3 if Sliga wins) and 2 OT losses to 2 more state champs. His national resume is a bit weaker than most on this list - but none may have been closer to being a state champ.
