  1. Minor perhaps, but McCormick was from Delta I think.
  2. Yes, I imagine he got confused because he was comparing 2019 runners-up to 2020 champions and slipped into runners-up for 2020 in a couple places. Easily done.
  3. Presumably Keys is better this year than last and Irick won this year, so I’d have to go with Irick. Also, I hope Allred has improved since last year, so I don’t see that one as hard to decide.
  4. Which school would he have wrestled for this year?
  5. I stood in line more than 2 hours to be in front on line. Then I hurried in only to find 3 coaches of one school, who obviously had gotten access without standing in line, saving a block of 50 seats. When I told them they weren’t allowed to save that many, they told me that’s what they were doing and I couldn’t stop them. Then as soon as their 2 wrestlers got promptly beat Friday, almost all of their “fans” immediately got up and left.
  6. I think you may have meant “and” rather than “or”.
  7. I don’t recall Indy being a semi-State in the mid 90’s so I assume you mean whatever semi-State Indy was in. I do remember Marion County being very strong in the mid 90’s, what with the 2 Lawrence schools, Warren Central, Beech Grove, Decatur Central, Perry Meridian, Cathedral all producing major talent then. That said, maybe memory isn’t as good as it could be, so it would be interesting to see any comparison data.
  8. Ha ha. Of course he did. That was a temporary brain fart on my part.
  9. Oh yeah, I guess parsons scored a lot of points before then.
  10. Didn’t Cathedral have it clinched before 285?
  11. Who was the weakest semi-State in the mid 90’s?
  12. Ha ha That thought crossed my mind.
  13. Oh dear me, surely not. Wow. Just wow.
  14. What happened at 170? i was watching the match on Track, saw Wagner won, and switched over to the other mat.
  15. Wow, this will only be my 28th consecutive year.
  16. Yes, Dickerson really was impressive at State that year. It would have been great to see how he would have done his senior year and maybe beyond.
  17. I assume you mean starting with sectionals and all the way through ... while ignoring forfeits?
  18. Well, for sure many kept on topic with this thread’s title, i.e., “Petty back and forth...”.
  19. Then maybe we can combine this idea from GrecoCoach with UncleJimmy’s suggestion on the “Unpopular Opinion ... Pairings Show” thread ... ... by electing Mr. Goebel as IHSAA commissioner. How do we get his name on the ballot?
  20. Just curious, is Dave already in the hall of fame for all his contributions to Indiana wrestling?
  21. Just curious, what is The Chet? I assume it is a place with basketball goals. And it sounds like a place where New Castle people go. Other than that?
  22. I think you are still misunderstanding Jayruss’s question. I believe he meant which SCHOOL (not which semi-state) had the most semi-State champions (who will be GOING to state). Based on that interpretation, Crown Point HIGH SCHOOL had the most with 5 semi-state champions. Based on your interpretation though, I agree that I think the New Castle Semi-State will end up with the most state champions ... although I think it will be close between 3 of the semi-states.
