  1. Parity between top teams this year. IHSAA is a parody of a real organization.
  2. Where is it? broadcastsport.com? ihsaa.org?
  3. Matt M, 2011 IHSAA Individual State Finals 1. Crown Point 88 * 2. Indian Creek 76.5 3. Yorktown 64 4. Castle 60 4. Perry Meridian 60 * 6. Evansville Mater Dei 48 * 7. Jimtown 47 8. Lawrence North 41 * 9. New Castle 38 10. Roncalli 33 * Scores compiled from wcs145's post.
  4. Roach certified at 145 and won State at 145. He could wrestle 145 or 152 today. I do remember MD's Blake Maurer bumping up two classes to 215 against New Castle at 2004 Team State even though he was 171. Apparently the rules have changed back in the last 5-6 years.
  5. MD put in a rested Bassemeier instead of a beat up Weinzapfel (11-9 OT loss to Crown Point). Boots wins by fall. LN 35 - MD 35. No penalty points. Won 7 matches each. LN wins on fall criteria 4-3.
  6. Last weekend in February ... at Center Grove.
  7. So the rules have changed since 2004? Roach couldn't weigh in at 152 and wrestle 160?
  8. I wouldn't want to see Team State move around like a traveling road show. It's been at Center Grove for 15 years now. A tradition is in place if we can keep it.
  9. Roach beat Sims last year 145 quarters by 7-3. I wonder what Roach weighed in today at. He would have to be an underdog giving up 15 lbs. to Sims this year, or even 8. Sims WBF 1:59 over Shurg in State prelims. Staying off his back for 6 minutes this week would have been a big challenge.
  10. MD over Crown Point 30-25, moves on to face Lawrence North. I don't understand how Roach was prevented from wrestling 160 when Blake Maurer bumped up two classes - from 171 to 215 - against New Castle at Team State 2004. Maurer was certified at 171 and won state at that class. Have the rules changed?
  11. That looks like an injury shortened season. Nothing close to starting the state series under .500.
  12. Y2 put up a thread about this. It's still on page 1. Look for it.
  13. The IHSAA site shows that a John Gillespie, Bloomington, beat Tony Melendez of Lafayette Jefferson 2-1 at 145 in 1971. No season record is listed for Gillespie. I think the old Bloomington High became Bloomington South, and Bloomington North opened in 1973. This would have been around the time that semi-states were added to the state tournament series. Back then only the top two advanced.
  14. 2007 Team State Finals: Stephen Lovelace (MD) WBF 3:50 Kurt Cauffman (Mish). Cauffman finished 5th at 160. It took the ref forever to call the fall.
  15. I think wildcat's cool points might move into positive territory if he could make this happen!
  16. wildcat, You're right. Just in case, I wanted to make it absolutely clear for goodtimes' benefit. It's important to him. goodtimes might seem to be a little bent out of shape on the issue but think about it. What wrestler wants to bust his hump in the room for several years, make it on the big stage under the lights, just to have the IHSAA screw up the record books for all time?
  17. Jason Terry wasn't accused of any violation, his Evansville Harrison runnerup opponent was. goodtimes (the Mishawaka runnerup) was put in the same boat at the Harrison wrestler by the IHSAA's mistake. Terry's and goodtimes' situations are different. Somehow I doubt that the early 90s Mishawaka teams needed "illegal" practice partners. I hope goodtimes can get some satisfaction that everything is cleared up and the history books are corrected.
  18. 1. Evansville Mater Dei - 11 qualifiers in 1996. 2. No. 3. No. 4. Lawrence North - 4 champs in 1992; Evansville Mater Dei - 4 champs in 2003. * These answers are for the modern era. Back in the late 1930s and the 1940s Bloomington was the state's major powerhouse and racked up huge numbers in all categories. TAE would have to research that but I think what I have listed still stands.
  19. It would have to be Crown Point. They just don't publicize it or publish team scores because Team State is supposed to decide the team title.
  20. I understand completely, the changes are ever so slight at the lower end. The differences become much more noticeable as 145 becomes 152 and 152 becomes 160. Somewhere along the way one weight disappeared down the rabbit hole. Taking this year's Castle team as an example, with the state champ Welch brothers at 152 and 160. Assuming they aren't happy to bump up to 160 and 170(!) and stay put, that means that somewhere in between 135, 140 and 145 there are going to be some vicious challenge matches to hold on to a varsity spot. #*@&!! Then, if Castle's 189 bumped up to 195 they'd have to find another decent kid to fill the brand new spot at 182, or if their 189 dropped to 182, they'd have to find somebody for the new 195. I'm not sure the bell curve concept works out so great for smaller schools - they would have problems at the top end of this curve.
