Oddsmaker
I'm a "Michiana" guy, but have to agree, as far as geographical regions, "Da Region", is the toughest. Throw in Mishawaka, Penn, and some good individuals from the South Bend schools, you see why Merrillville S-S is so tough.
WildCatWrestler2008
In the Michiana area, we do have a lot of tough wrestlers this year.
Fabio Jr.
u also have to include michigan guys, if it is MICHIANA not that that boosts the argument region would dominate
davit
based on Indianamat.com's rankings a dual would look like this...this is not all of the ranked people in the respective areas, just the highest ranked....feel free to change it up if you want, i may have missed a few schools in each area. wt. Region vs. Michiana (-michigan) 103: #3 Ayersman vs. #5 Wisler 112: #1 Hawkins vs. #4 Beck 119: #9 Lamb vs. #2 Brooks 125: #2 Tsirtsis vs. #16 Stevens 130: #2 Porras vs. #1 Harper 135: #1 Roach vs. Nobody in top 16 or #2 Dillon 140: #3 Surma vs. #1 Sandefur 145: Nobody in top 16 vs. #3 Corpe 152: #1 McMurray vs. Nobody in top 16 160: #2 Myers vs. #4 Powell 171: Nobody in top 16 vs. #5 Lopez 189: #1 Shrewbury vs. #2 Graber 215: #2 Cleveland vs. #7 Lentz 285: #5 Travis vs. #6 Thomas Could be fun to talk about bumping at certain weight classes to fill the line ups with ranked guys. Example: Michiana at 140 has #1 Sandefur, #7 Stahl, and #8 Hall Region at 125 has #2 Tsirtsis, #4 Napules, #5 Thornton, #13 Brady

Oddsmaker
As much as I'd like Brooks in that line-up, I don't think Warsaw is considered Michiana. A little too far south.
WildCatWrestler2008
As much as I'd like Brooks in that line-up, I don't think Warsaw is considered Michiana. A little too far south. Well in the Michiana area the counties in Indiana are LaPorte, St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaGrange, Kosciusko, Fulton, Noble, Starke, and Marshall. It also says Lake and Porter, but that is the Region over there.
busstogate
Just like with the time zone, I'd have to say Laporte County is split with LaPorte being Region and New Prairie being Michiana. Michigan City is assuredly full Region.
Fabio Jr.
Guys believe me i wish it was different we are not as deep as the region.......yet, let some other programs continue to build and in 3-4 years we may be just as strong
ontherise219
But the Region can't get a team state title. We have been close but no cigar

It also says Lake and Porter, but that is the Region over there. Well, since it is a fictional geographic area made up mostly by the media, there is no designated "Michiana" area by cartographers nor dictionaries. Given the term, it is fairly obvious that it is deriven from the MICHigan/indIANA bordering communities. Thus, the communities closest to the border between state lines are in general referred to as Michiana. Kosciusko Co. is part of my territory for work, and they are more linked with the "lakes" in Indiana than Michigan. Lesson adjourned.
