Weston Close Memorial at Huntington North

SWwrestling

Recommended Posts

Does anyone from any of the teams know how this is going to be run on Saturday?  We have not received any information from Huntington.  Any information would be helpful.  All I know is that weigh-in is at 7:30am EST.

Thanks, Coach Lucero

There are two pools with five wrestlers. There will be five rounds in which one round a wrestler will recieve a bye. 4-0 finishers from a pool will wrestle 4-0 wrestles in the other pool and the 3-1 wrestler will wrestle the 3-1 wrestler in the other pool and so on in the final round.

How about 189 and 160 results?

Jackson Bratcher of Eastbrook beat Quinn Kurtz of Prarie Heights in the 160 final by a score of 5-3.

Abbott of Huntington North finished 1st and was named MVP, Kaufman of Renselear Central finished 2nd and Scott of Marion finished 3rd.

I counted only 9 teams...what happened to Marion??emem090.gif

ff

Don't even ask fearless, Marion had a horrible day and I'm glad they were left off the results. There were several matches where we had 10 or 11 point leads and got pinned and we lost matches to wrestlers we beat earlier in the year.

That would be Kaufman's first loss of the year.  How bad did Abbott beat him?

The Rensselaer Bombers had a rough weekend!!!  We had 3 out of  the 4 kids missing from the infamous skin disease ringworm, but still thats no excuss!  We only won 3 matches in the last 2 rounds.  We lost our 119 pounder (Ringen)  for the year with a broken collarbone.  So who knows what direction we will be heading this week but hopefully once conference and sectional comes around we put on a good showing.  The Abbott & Kaufman match was pretty much as follow: Abbott 4 takedowns and Kaufman with 4 escapes.  Nothing else but that!  Thanks to Huntington North for putting on a great tournament and look forward to next year.

So am I right in assuming Abbott and Scott never wrestled? Sounds like there was some good wrestling.

No, Scott had a 6-2 lead in the 2nd period over Kaufman and got too high when riding and got rolled under and pinned. Not taking anything away from Kaufman because he deserved to win and rightfully had Scott pinned, but Darryn didn't wrestle well this weekend and got too lazy giving up only his 2nd or 3rd pin in his career. On a positive, Scott learned from his mistake and will improve on it.

112 had some good matches, Randle beat Arenas 4-2 on a reversal with 15 seconds left and then beat Gradient from Noblesville in 3 overtimes.
