  1. Coach Shelton, First off, I think that we have always seen eye to eye. You and your team are always class acts. Thank you for all that you do for the kids. I am no longer a ISWA board member so I can not speak for the organization. With this said, I did have a big hand in developing these duals. Maybe I can shed some light on your concerns. Seeding- Being that this tournament goes from 40 pounds to 175 and from pre-K through 6th grade, There is a very good chance that teams will only lose a few wrestlers each year (some less some more). We only lose three this year. With that said, each team is allowed 23 wrestlers. The vast majority of all teams come back. When we started this tournament, we came to the conclusion that if you were one of the top teams the year before, that you would be a top team the following year. We also felt that those top teams should be separated. With this said, this has proven to be the case year in and year out. In the five year history of the event, the seeded teams have only been beaten in pool play a few times. I think that every seeding committee would take those results. With this said, those top teams which got beat typically finished in the top 8. The seeding also allows teams to not have two or three of the top teams in their pool, and take a pounding all day. Lastly- The draw verbiage in the flyer is dated. Prior to our vast knowledge of trackwrestling, we did hold the draw at the office. It was a way to let people see that it was on the up and up. By the way..... we did it while the truck was to be loaded to Jedi mind trick people to come help. Needless to say nobody showed up (same with all ISWA board meetings or truck loads or unloads). It was just the same ol people who do 90 percent of the work. Pat Culp does a blind draw. Pat does not have a team in the event, and does an outstanding job doing draws at all of our ISWA events. I assure you that her integrity is second to none. The current powers to be are now aware of this mistake, and will fix it for next year (thanks to you). With all of this said, you guys have a mature and solid team. You should do great no matter where you fall. I just hope that you are not in our pool!!!! Good Luck this weekend., Hope to share some good times and laughs. Brewer
  2. If your kids have wrestled in the state of Indiana, there is a good chance that Pat Culp has had an hand in making their experience great (at one point or another). Pat will be one of the key persons that will make the Elementary State Duals run great this weekend (Just like every other state event). After we get started, please stop by the head table and give thanks to Pat and the others. Too many times they field complaints and do not get the thank yous, of which they deserve. These ladies and gentlemen spend double the time that we parents and coaches do at these tournaments. They set up and tear down and work every minute in between. On behalf of myself, my family, my club, my community, and my state THANK YOU PAT!!!!
  3. Folks keep bringing up huge basketball gyms. Most basketball gyms can hold only three or four mats. They have the seating, but not the floor space.
  4. Wasn't there but it seems like if a few things are done then most complaints will be addressed. 1. Use an extra expo hall. 2. Bring in more seating. 3. Change the mat configuration. I have faith in the event organizers, that these changes will be made. It just seems that they were blind sided by the large number of fans (growing pains). Again, unfortunately I was not there but, I have been a part of running big events. It is very hard to predict shortfalls. Y2 seems to be open to suggestions. He also seems to be a fairly sharp guy. I am sure that things will improve. Lastly, senior leadership or newbies they still give of themselves and should be respected for their efforts. Nobody intentionally gave people a bad experience. I know for a fact that people missed family holiday functions and days of work to run this event.
  5. Avon takes 7th winning 38 to 30 against Lawrence North. Avon was without Mason Miranda at 120. Mason is a tough kid. I am sure that he will be back sooner than later.
  6. Avon will be getting last years middle school state runner up Ray Rioux at 106 next year. Hopefully Skaggs will be back. And if God is willing Carson Brewer will be healed up and better. If the cards fall right, Avon should have a good shot next year. Great team effort by emd this year. No champs and still win by a good margin. Congrats!
  7. Maligned, You continue to blow my mind with this stuff. Awesome stuff. Where do you have Avon finishing at team state? Also.... you should offer your services to teams to go to seeding meetings! Sort of a professional seeding consultant. Since it was my idea, I will be glad to take my 10 % of all fees!
  8. track has Avon up on Union County by 7 going into 285. Union county 285 is done. Nice finish for the young guns.
  9. Avon with the slim lead at this point. They will place 12 wrestlers (only had 5 seeded wrestlers). Great job boys!!! Wishing I was there. #youngguns
  10. Always good to see anonymous people on this board spewing venom about people that have done tons for countless youth. If you have seen my team this year you know that we are down. We have not came close to filling a full team all year. There is a good chance that we will not do well this year. Heck... I even grabbed two big kids off the streets of Avon to make them wrestlers to fill our team. Hopefully me picking them up every other day, and teaching them wrestling and life lessons will help them become better people. With this said, continue to hide behind a screen name and enjoy us being down a little this year. We should be very good again next year! You are not the first person to knock me or our program. As always, you are free to call me to discuss. But... For some reason, no message board warrior ever has! Funny how that works! I assure that everyone at my club is VERY happy with what they get. No Avon kids have been left out or do not get what they need. Our practices are ran by former Purdue and IU wrestlers. Our club success is now hitting the high school level. Everything is good here! As matter of fact, we have trained many varsity wrestlers from other area schools too (some that have handed our kids losses). I'm proud of all the kids! Feel free to bring your kid by too. They will be treated just like any other kid in the room. Thanks for your concerns. Thanks, Matt Brewer 317-201-0644 Just got a phone call from Dwilly to explain that his post (which was addressed to "Matt") wasn't pointed towards me or my club. Hats off to him for being a stand up guy. Last word of advice... I would be weary of putting criticism like that on this board and showing up with any wild cards. Not going to look good.
  11. Seems to be a lot of belly aching by the fans. Seems like the kids and the coaches are just happy to have a shot to wrestle the best. To be the best, you have to beat the best. We are not there yet but are grateful to be a part of it. Just wish my son was healthy enough to give it a go. Good luck to all parents and coaches.... And more importantly to the kids! Thank you to all that put this on. I know that you spend tons of time (which translates to lost income and time away from family) to put this on.
  12. Flowrestling has IU as the 19th ranked dual team in the land.
  13. Rumor is that Brewer may try and give it a go at 152 or 160.
  14. Didn't want to call anybody out. But ..... yes I was just courious as it seemed like a strange situation.
  15. Didn't happen at cathedral. Everything went great there. Just wanted rules verification.
  16. Under the rules, can a weight Allowance be given after all teams have weighed in?
  17. Reynolds, Bell and Roiux all win! Nate Rioux did not give up a single point. Good job boys! Nate Rioux named outstanding wrestler. #hendrickscountyhammers
  18. Good day so far for the Contenders boys. Drew mills took runner up. Case Bell, Nate Rioux and Parker Reynolds all on the finals. Revin Dickman and Ray rioux wrestling back. Great job at this very tough tourney.
  19. Is it just me, or is flowrestling getting better and better. I have always been a big fan, but MAN! They are killing it with their coverages and other content. Flo pro is killing my production at the office.
  20. 174 match was epic. Nasty headlock to start things off.
  21. #avonpettingzoo #seymourbringyouranimals #ourgimmick #hashtagwar2016
  22. Iowa upsets osu 18 to 16. 42,287 in attendance.
  23. Not surprised. I got to see this staff at two different RTCs this past year. These guys made me want to put some shoes on and run through a wall. Didn't see one kid or parent leave those workouts and not be completely impressed.
  24. Great article here: http://m.flyergroup.com/sports/local_sports/local-wrestler-excels-on-the-mat-and-in-life/article_91f1c3a0-d554-52c5-9bda-ea305c4de875.html?mode=jqm
