  1. Columbus East taking a tough team. Looking for them to finish fairly high. Heading down this weekend. look forward to seeing our Indiana boys bring home some hardware. And with said... I am now a NCAA All-American! Thank you Joe and staff for allowing us to post on here.
  2. I know Columbus East was beat by Yorktown by a handful of points. Columbus East handled everyone else they wrestled. I assume that Yorktown was named champs.
  3. 14 solid teams banging today in Yorktown. Thank you to the Yorktown folks for giving the kids the opportunity to stay fresh. Some great matches.
  4. EMD tourney is a great tourney. Anyone that says it's not... is a fool. With that said, we make the trip down there for semi state also. It appears that Avon is just opting for a different tournament, with some fresh opponents. We look forward to seeing our southern Indiana friends at semistate. The Ohio tournament is a great opportunity, and we are exited for the new challenge. Btw... the Brownsburg schedule is brutal. Their schedule has completely changed within the last couple years. Adding new challenges has helped them. Those boys are battle tested. Wrestling as a whole is evolving in our area. We are and will continue to make changes to look for more challenges to continue to improve. This change of schedule may end up being a step backwards. Our kids may get killed by all of the nationally rank guys. Or maybe... one or two may step up and make some noise. Only time will tell.
  5. Check out the leaderboard feature! Lots of love for #TheCounty Top 4 for the year..... I'll take it.
  6. I can't thank Brandi Cash and Bryan Bailey enough for all that they do! I made the trip and had the chance to hang with some of Indiana's best wrestling families. Great wrestling and tons of fun on the boardwalk and beach. If you get a chance to make this trip..... come! Great showing by the Indiana teams. Teams must make the top 32 to wrestle today (day 3). Indiana Highrollers Black and Indiana outlaws black made it in the high school division. Indiana outlaws black ms made it in the middle school division. Indiana outlaws white made it in the elementary division. Indiana high rollers white lost the chance to make top 32 in a 2 point heartbreaker last night (giving up 2 forfeits). Tons of Indiana teams here and a handful wrestling for other states teams. I overheard multiple college coaches and scouts say that they are impressed by Indiana wrestling as a whole. Great to see a good number of Indiana high school coaches down here also.
  7. Thank you to all you great wrestling moms out there. It takes special women to allow us dads and wrestlers to do what we do. THANK YOU!!!!
  8. He did not interview well. Too much nervous energy. Got a couple bros named Brands coming to interview tomorrow. To be honest... we have had Mark Perry and Tom Ryan in the room within the last couple years..... I'm just saying. True story bro.
  9. Nobody is going anywhere. We still have 4 other coaches that have wrestled in the big 10 and an Olympic ref on staff. Have a huge youth club that is well funded. Got a hand full of middle school studs coming in and a stream of iswa state champs at the elementary level. Also, 11 returners from the third place team in 3A. Better keep your top coaches locked up. Kind of a rare situation for someone to step into.
  10. Ha! Never. I don't even do club anymore. Love just being dad. I'm sure that izzy will enjoy being uncle izzy.
  11. Big things coming. Gearing up for a great run this next season. #TheCountyTMZ with the scoop soon. Stay tuned! Would like to wish Izzy good luck in the future.
  12. Would a county with 14 individual state champs and a few team titles and a team runner up not be considered a top county? Cmon.... gotta say #TheCounty is top five.... maybe? With that said... hard to argue against the others.
  13. Sounds like a challenge... need to step it up Garcia! Btw.... what was the topic of this thread again? Ah.... who cares? Kids should wrestle where they want.
  14. Revin Dickman Cheaney Schoeff (Middle school state champ also) Quad crown Caden Brewer Nate Rioux Brady McKivitz (Middle school state champ also) Quad crown Would make 8 for #TheCounty. All younger guys who may make some noise later than sooner.
  15. Going to Virginia Beach and Disney this year. Betting I see a few sets of these (regardless of price). Going to take off like wild fire (I think). At my house... my little one wants the new uniforms. My oldest wants to squeeze into a youth large singlet at 170 pounds. So kind of a mixed review at the mattyb house.
  16. Yep! And your son was in beast mode!
  17. Many but not all of the heavy hitters there yesterday. To be honest it was some of the best freestyle wrestling that I have seen at state in a while. The singlets to the champs was a very nice touch.
  18. I remember when Tech high school was packed! Nothing like getting your bout sheet in staging, mean mugging your opponent all the way to the mat, then going outside to play on the dirt hill with him after the match (as you had to wait 3 hours for your next match)!
  19. 2010- 998 2009- 1068 2008- 1080 2007- 1304 These are all that are recorded on track. We did not use track prior to a decade ago (as far as I know). This years numbers do not include walk ups and the 28 girls. It seems like a pretty big increase from the last couple years. I personally think that the increase is the result of the week night tourneys. Not only does it give kids a better chance to "qualify", it is getting more kids freestyle matches for little time invested. Families are getting more familiar with this style. In the past, some really good kids would keep wrestling folkstyle (the national circuit) after our state. Those same kids would come to freestyle state and get beat by some average kids that were training freestyle. Not to mention that the freestyle rules kept changing. This was a really bad combo. Those families then left with the opinion that freestyle "sucks" or "is stupid". I know that the quailifiying process is not ideal for all... but... it has lead to new opportunities for our kids. Hopefully we will continue to see growth.
  20. At the end of pre-reg.... it appears that number went up 95 wrestlers from last year (typically will be a few more walk ups). 2017- 711 pre-reg 2016- 616 2015- 647 2014- 787 2013- 814 2012- 791 2011- 894 Thoughts?
  21. Man..... that's a small middle school dude. Not sure if you will find many that size (if any around the state). Just keep feeding him mighty kids meals and shakes. In the meantime..... Jason is right.... RWA has some solid little guys. They may be younger than your guy, but will give him a great workout. Keep him involved!
  22. A couple years ago, I got an email from JD Minch... he was stranded over seas and wanted me to "kindly" send him money to get home.
  23. Cadets go like on July right? I hope so... was planning in taking my son.
  24. Would love to see a 13th team added. Man.... I really thing that Center Grove could give a number of these teams a good dual. I look forward to another great event.
