  1. Super upsetting. My sons team (Ohio U) has 4 qualifiers. Two of them are seniors (one of which he lived and trained with all of last summer). These dudes are crushed!!! I see people asking for seniors to get an additional year of eligibility. With that said, if those kids get an extra year... all kids should get an extra year. For that reason, I don't see it happening. This sucks!!!
  2. Awe man... I legit didn’t see that. But... yes great idea MattyM!
  3. Here another great MattyB idea... having it in one place would be impossible. With that said.. have the different age groups at different schools. Have Southport host Pee Wee and Bantam. Have Perry take Intermediate and Novice. Beech Grove gets School Boys and Cadets. Big boys go to Center Grove. All on south side of Indy. I know it is not ideal. Some families will have to split up. It will not be close to what we usually get.... but... it will get done.
  4. Have ya ever been on this site??? You know how it goes on here!!!
  5. Its growing. Probably, one the best Girls State Championships in the nation. With Girls wrestling on the rise nationwide, we have taken a huge step forward. I can see more and more girls getting college money to wrestle. For these reasons, I see this as a significant event. I'm sure that the girls and the families of the girls that participate in this event, do not share your opinion. Due to the impact that it has on the growth of girls wrestling and the impact on the participants, it makes my list.
  6. I’ll take your word for it. I did leave Traicoff off the list. It should be on there. Good call!
  7. That only leaves Carmel and Avon as write in candidates. If the accept the last two spots... then isn’t it a done deal???
  8. Revised: 1. IHSAA State (would be much lower if it was classed) 2. IHSAA semI-state (all as one) 3. IHPO 4. Middle School State (One of the nations best) 5. High school team state 6. Schoolboy Duals 7. ISWA State 8. Al Smith 9. Scholastic Duals 10. Freestyle / Greco State 11. Frosh / Soph State 12. Indy Nationals 13. EMD holiday classic 14. Marion County Tourney 15. Girls High School State
  9. I would go... 1. IHSAA State (would be much lower if it was classed) 2. IHSAA semI-state (all as one) 3. IHPO 4. Middle School State (One of the nations best) 5. High school team state 6. ISWA State 7. Al Smith 8. Freestyle / Greco State 9. Frosh / Soph State 10. Indy Nationals 11. EMD holiday classic 12. Marion County Tourney 13. Lake County Tourney 14. DAC conference (tie) 14. HCC conference (tie) 16. Mooresville Regional 17. Mooresville Holiday Classic 18. Spartan Classic 19. ISWA Elementary team state 20. Girls High School State
  10. IHPO 3rd. I was just talking about this this weekend with one of our state runner up boys. On the national scale, I would call this a 2nd tier event. Right behind events like Super 32, Flo, NHSCA nationals, and Fargo. I consider IHPO to be equal to events like the Fall Grappler Classic or the Ohio Tournament of Champions. Indy Nationals and Frosh/Soph state should be on that list too.
  11. Center Grove isn't in a write in consideration position. But.. they will have a good team.
  12. My son Carson got slammed in the ticket round his sophomore year. They actually landed on the concrete floor at the Ford Center. Hurt his hip pretty bad. Had a huge bruise. But.. he told the ref that he wanted to continue (he was winning). They restarted the match. I don’t know if his mobility was hindered, and I still have never asked. But... the next thing I know he got pinned. Could have punched his ticket to state. He never has ever brought it up. We all know that he did the right thing. Things happen... you get up and wrestle. On the flip side, his senior year... he was at emd wresting. He was up 13-0 he took the kid down to get the tech. He clearly slammed the kid. The kid could have took a dive and gave an undefeated senior a loss. The kid got up and finished the match. It’s just what we do here.
  13. To not start early in grade school is the exception. With that said... it’s not impossible to win a title after starting late. it’s fun to go on track profiles and see the progression and see who they have battled throughout the years.
  14. Asa Garcia wins the 2020 National Collegiate Open. That a pretty big deal. Great win to cap off a very solid redshirt year. Most of last years senior class had great redshirt years. Add in Rooks success after pulling his redshirt. Great things ahead for these men.
  15. The thing is every kid is walking around about 20 pounds heavier than they were 4 weeks ago.
  16. Last year they told the kids coaches. Btw. Both teams won last year. Let’s do it again!!!
  17. I’m guessing they are going to get a bunch of matches in a short period of time.
  18. State runner up and third place coming back. 11 starters coming back is strong also. Hard to argue against Perry also.
  19. Slivka is one of the best big match wrestlers in Indiana history. He had wins over multiple top ranked high schoolers last year. And has beaten more of those guys this year. He just gets the job done. Slivka is a hammer on top and underrated on his feet. I’m unaware of any national ranked kids that Dickens has beat. Slivka has beaten a handful. With that said, that’s the reason that Slivka gets my nod. I’m using logic and facts. EMD fans are pumped for their guy. As they should be. Again, silly debate but a fun one. Obviously the Dickens win is fresh and 90 percent of EMD fans will give Dickens the nod. It is what it is. With all of that said, most posters on here have never won a title and will never have family member win a title. They will never know the joy or help put the work in to win a title. So.. when you get on here and say a KID will smoke another KID, it is kinda insulting to a family that actually put in the work, took the kid to privates, took the kid to academy, took the kid all over the USA, the money that was spent, the sleep that was missed, the days of work missed, the tudors that were payed for, getting up at 5:00am to help the kid work out and meal prep, the “vacation” time that was spent in the middle of Iowa. So before you go off running your mouth behind your anonymous screen name, be considerate of what people went through and know that they are prideful. Make your logical picks or homer picks, but you need to be respectful of other people’s sacrifices. Calm down cowboys. Just my two cents.
  20. I have no issue with it. Just backing up my guy @TeamGarcia. Debate on!!!
  21. Have to agree with @TeamGarcia this is a silly debate. Kids change so much year to year there’s no telling who would win. Like Joe vs Carson. They wrestle one time a couple years back. But if you look at both of them today they both have changed sooo much, no telling what would happen. Many others have wrestled also. Just know that these kids all should be proud and be grateful that their names will forever be in the record books and a part of these debates for years on end. I do know this.... there is bigger things in store for all these guys. I have been told by multiple champs.. “have no clue why I got so worked up over one tourney, it really is not a big deal.” Every college tourney you go too has multiple state champs in each bracket. Just about every kid at the D1 level is a state champ. These kids will continue to grow. This year Carson was in the same bracket as the last two number one kids that came out of high school in his class (who’s number one champs). He took the number one high schooler from two years ago to OT and lost and won the other tourney that last years number one was in. He is closing the gap between himself and the perceived best kids that have came out. Some of this years champs will do the same. Can’t wait to see what happens next! Again, silly debate, but a honor to continue to be acknowledged.
  22. All he has to do us keep getting against a certain semi state and @TeamGarcia will be there in no time!!! What???!!! Too soon???
  23. Not sure about the other write in candidates. Avon brings in 2019 middle school placer David Marcum (contenders trained). Multi time middle school placer Luke Rioux (second of 5 brothers). Caden Brewer (Brewer 2.0). And gets back Blaze Garcia (2019 state qualifier and brother of a 3 timer). Add that to a solid team that only graduated three seniors, and that will be a tough team (with a very solid team score at state). Hard to argue to not vote Avon in. Just saying.
  24. Garcia went from 3500 nanas to like 46,000. Dude is a banana betting boss!
