  1. I second that........I had several kids from our club at the tournament yesterday and not much positive to say. I see no reason to trash Chad or kids on this board.....Heck if you read the posts from Illinois someone even called out one of our Indiana boys by first and last name and that is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE in my opinion. The kids were doing what there coaches and parents told them to do and let's not forget that. For the weight challenge, one of my dad's challenged a weight and the wrestler was 4.8 lbs over. He payed the $50.00 bucks. He then approached Chad with his concerns about the tournament and Chad refunded his $50 dollar challenge money.....I hope everybody is seeing why it is so critical to weigh the wrestlers in the morning of the tournament. Thank God ISWA does it right and I hope they continue to do it right. Parents and coaches worried about kids weight classes in the morning session.....BOO HOO on you. Let them wrestle what they weigh!!!!!
  2. Pennsylvania will definetly not announce there team till after the PA state championships are over. They will pick between the double A and Triple A State champion. One will wrestle against team USA and The other one will compete against pa vs. another state. It is a awesome event to attend. Congrats Tsirtis & Brooks. A honor well deserved!

  7. I know Boone Grove is there.....What are the other teams that are there if anyone knows?
  8. Infolady, How is the division your team is put in decided. And is the number of kids on your roster different that you hand in from small, medium and large divisions. Just wondering how it all works...Thank You for a great state tournament and ISWA vols do a great job!!
  9. Congrats to all the Boone Grove Kid wrestlers. You guys all had a great day. The coaches are all very proud of you. Big congrats to all of our state place winners for 2011. It is a unbelievable accomplishment and you should be very proud of your individual accomplishment. And a big congrats to our PEE Wee 45 lb STATE CHAMPION LUKE BURFORD. Great job, it made for a very exciting day. The day was one little step on building for the future. And I thank you all for the unbelieveable memories. What a great group of kids.....GO WOLVES

    ISWA

First of all I would like to say THANK YOU to the ISWA. Great job sat. running the tournament. YES, it was a long day, but that would have been a impossible task for most states to pull off. I really had my doubts when I walked into weigh-ins Friday Night and it turned out to be ok. The way the mats 1-6 were ran in the gym was great. NO PARENTS ON THE FLOOR was AWESOME. The fieldhouse was not that bad either. I had 23 kids there from our club and I do not think anyone of them waited more than an hour between their matches. As some of them advanced deeper into the winners bracket they might have waited a little longer but that was understandble while they were trying to catch up the consys. There were some huge brackets. THERE WAS SOME GREAT WRESTLING and all of our kids should be proud. Thank You to the ISWA volunteers, the Ben Davis Staff and the officals that stood on their feet for 13 straight hours. What a great day in my opinion!
  11. Agreeded Mattyb. That is where we are wrestling sat. and we will all deal with it. Thank God the ISWA does a great job running the state tournament so it shouldn't be that bad. We were in the freshman gym and that was god awful. I will always give the ISWA kudos, I have really never been to a bad state tournament in six years and lets not forget these people are all volunteers for our kids. If we act like adults and good coaches and remember that we are not at the olympic trials everything will be fine. Good Luck to all our fine young wrestlers and thank you for being part of the greatest sport in the world. I highly doubt conseco can get enough mats down. Heck the only have 4 for high school states every year and many more would be pressing it. Lets just let the kids have fun!!!! TIME TO STRAP IT ON......Good Luck to all
  12. First, I agree that it is no easy task that the ISWA has in putting on the state tournament. And I give them kudos because every year I feel it is run pretty good. I just think they need to get away from the whole fieldhouse idea and start looking for a gym that has balcony bleachers on both sides and room to host it. Hinkle fieldhouse I do not believe would work because of the elevated gym floor and I know from Indy nationals that you can not get 16 full mats down in there. I would just like to see the wrestlers seperated from the parents......I feel the coaches bands are sometimes a mood point at states because 30 minutes after it starts everbody and their brother is matside. It is crazy matside and very difficult to watch the matches. There are alot of good matches throughout the day and unless you get right up matside there is no way in heck that you can watch them.....I do not know why the ISWA went away from split days this year, I thought it was great last year the way they did it...Anyway, I look forward to seeing our young boys and girls get after it sat. Its 10:00 pm and the list is at 961 wrestlers that = im guessing around 3000 plus wrestlers and fans....Get there early to set up your lawn chair....let the chaos!!!!! LOL
  13. They did this format three years ago I think..They had mats in the fieldhouse and gym. I thought it wasn't very good as the mats in the gym were pretty much all the way to the wall and there was very limited seating. It was dificult getting in and out of both gyms with all the spectators standing in the doorways to both wrestling areas and I believe we didn't get out till aroung 6 pm. Their will be over 800 kids tonight by the time registration closes....Way to many people for a one day event at Ben Davis High School....The ISWA does a great job putting on the state tournament, but if you are going to have a one day event the ISWA should look into having it at some type of arena so the spectators can actually see the wrestling that is going on throughout the day. By 8:30 am that mats will be surrounded by wrestlers warming up, coaches and parents filming and it is virtually impossible to see the matches.... Looking forward to watching some great matches saturday and lets all remember that they are just kids and the future of Indiana Wrestling...Try and stay sane between all the stress of 2000 people being stuffed in a small tuna can.....LOL
  14. I believe Tommy Churchard from Valpo and Eric Roach From Crown Point wrestled each other in the finals from sectionals thru states the year Tommy was state champion. I think those were eric's only loses that year. All four of them to Tommy
  15. Joker - Max had two takedowns and gave up to escapes to fuqua. One of the escapes max just let him up. Semi state is going to be nuts at 103 and there will be some good wrestlers staying home... thats for sure!!!
  16. I do not know....Max is pretty solid on his feet and is tall and lanky which presents problems for the other two....All three are tough and they will probally all wrestle each each other within one or two points. Sure will be fun to watch as a fan though.....Let the run to Conseco begin!!!!
  17. I was there. Max wrestled a great match. From what I can see they are pretty evenly matched and could go either way everytime they wrestle each other. I would expect alot of one or two point matches between the two of them throughout the postseason
  18. After reading all the posts I will throw my two cents in....I myself have a vested interest in the club at boone grove because I have three boys wrestling at this time in the club. First, as for Coach Poynter, My three kids love wrestling for him and would only wrestle for him now!! He moved to Boone Grove to spend more time with his kids and family and that you cannot fault a guy for! He has a very big interest in the high school program still to this day and has near 40 kids in the room every tues, thurs and friday night. He started the kids program with his wife by himself with his own money 6 years ago because of knowing the high school team was never going to be a contender without a feeder program....I would think that makes since to most of us...He has surrounded himself with 7 qualified coaches in the club room everynight and the kids get ALOT of one on one time...That is incredible. He takes his club kids all over indiana and michigan to compete to get them the most mat time he can. Second, Boone Grove has been a basketball school since 1913, why I have no idea because they have no state championships to their credit. The varisty wrestling team gets little support from the school. They practice in an open wrestling room where everbody and their brother walks thru all day, they have home matches and wrestle them in the aux. gym not even the main gym and they fund raise to purchase their own singlets and sweats. Kids now a days are not dumb and they see the non support from the school. Although I somewhat agree with Throw 45 about finally a varisty football program helping the varisty wrestling program, I will tell you the kids in the club room is Boones future!!!!!! Coach Poynter should be commended for starting a little old kids club up in the corner of Porter County. Thank you to Coach Line for taking the Varisty program Over.... But a bigger THANKS to Coach Poynter for understanding the BIG PICTURE of Boone Grove Wrestling
  19. Boone Grove is bringing over 20 to 25 club kids
  20. Lets not get crazy here!!!!!! The region will have more than one state champ.........Heck Crown Point could have three alone
  21. I do not know about that. Crown point could possibly have four.....I am saying we have atleast 5 to 6 from the region
  22. Well olddawg if you check, hawk is projected for 125 and bradley at 133. So seems to me they both will get much mat time. Great job leroy. Agree both will be NAIA all americans!!!
  23. Agree.......Awesome Sat. of wrestling...Kids from thirteen states and AWESOME AWARDS!!!!!! The skill level of the kids was great......We will be back next year and my kids are already looking forward to it. THANKS NUWAY AND HYWAY
