  1. Those Castle coaches sure looked sharp in their blue shirts and yellow ties!!!
  2. Boonville wrestled Castle once this year, and it was at Castles first meet of the year. Haire wrestled 160.
  3. One of the big problems with continuing to add more laws is the fact that there are often "unintended consequences" that were not thought through or anticipated. I'd love to find some politicians who try to see how many laws they can eliminate, rather than ones looking to have their name associated with new laws/bills.
  4. Horrible news. Great acknowledgment of what sounded to be a great person. Very well written article and outstanding of Coach Hawald to take the time to write it. My prayers go out to the family, wrestling community, and friends of Dan Gorman.
  5. General question about when to sanitize... If you sanitize mats after each practice/meet, aren't they then in effect sanitized "before" the next meet/practice? Does it matter if it was immediately "after", then put away and brought out for use? Or is it best to sanitize immediately prior to use? I could see making a case for either. If you sanitize immediately after use, then you don't allow bad stuff to grow. However, you might have mised a small bit and that could grow while sitting and waiting for next use. Alternatively, if you wait to sanitize until just before the next use you allow bad stuff to grow, thereby potentially making it more likely to have it more widespread and more of it to potentially miss when sanitizing (seems that the seams would be especially vulnerable for growing stuff and hardest to clean thoroughly. What do most teams do? Before or after use? Do teams sometimes do both before and after?
  6. And if I recall correctly, it was in the first period too. Chamberlain pinned all 4 of his opponents that day and won "Most Falls." Quite a day for him. And as of today, he is still unranked.
  7. I heard that when he is not ranking wrestlers he is "The Stig" on Top Gear.
  8. Whew! I thought there for a minute that he had really gotten fat. Should be interestingto hear his story directly from him, especially the frame of mind that he went through to go from Gold Medal wrestler to obese. I would think that he posses the ability to call up the will power and determination to achieve incredible results, like he must have done to be a Gold Medal wrestler. Did he have a tragic love affair that left him a broken man, or what???
  9. I predict that 160 Welch will wrestle for Castle (CA), not Reitz ®, as currently listed.
  10. Looking at the program. Today started at 10:00. Tomorrow starts at 9:00 mooresville time. That's what the Program shows.
  11. Can someone tell me about those "bombs" and the "rockets red glare?" Were they shooting non-explosive cannonballs, or some type of munition that exploded after it hit the ground (or ater some period of time, like a bottle rocket does)? I'm not up on my 1812 artillery.

Did Ehr wrestle 145 or 152?
  13. Great to reflect on our flag and country. Thanks for those historical clarifications. One of my pet peeves is embellishing the truth to make a point. Especially when there is so much more to how amazing our ability to fly this flag really is. Another pet peeve is the poor flag etiquette we practice (or fail to practice) these days. Like Standing at attention (not Parade Rest, like most athletes seem to do) and putting your hand over your heart. Our wrestlers don't usually know better because they have not been taught by their parents, coaches, etc. I hope all the coaches and parents out their will give their children some training in etiquette to the flag. I guess that's my Christmas wish for this year! Here's where you can learn more about flag etiquette: http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html
  14. Thank you for your service to our great country. Very proud to have guys like you in our military, and leading by example. Great to have you being the outastanding model for our young soldiers to follow. And of course, thanks for all the contributions for wresting at your school, and all of Indiana wrestling.
  15. Since there has been a huge # of hours and debate spent trying to answer the question that WarrenC asked, I thought coach Brown's reply to be entertaining. There are two obvious answers to WarrenC's post. 1. Coach Brown's response highlighting the fact that gets pointed out over and over, which is, the best wrestler in the state at each weight, on a certain 2 day period, will be determined at Conseco. 2. The RANKINGS are one of the most discussed topics on these forums, so lots of answers to the question already exist, and continue to infest threads of all sorts, whether on topic or not. I didn't mind WarrenC asking the question, and I suspect that Coach B also didn't have any issue with it, but couldn't resist the urge to at least comment. That's what makes these online forums so fun. And the truth is, WarrenC's question is one that so many of us ponder for months. Again, that's a part of what makes all this so much fun. My $.02
  16. LOL. I had the same thought about the comment of cutting the score in half every year and then saying it's only a matter of time. Obviously, the frog NEVER gets all the way across. Just gets closer each time. I'm sure M109R (great looking bike, BTW) meant that they are continuing to get better every year, compared to Mishawaka, and will eventually overtake them. Sounds like one of the better rivalries in the state. Wish they would face each other in the south somewhere this year.
  17. sumthintoprove135 - I think you were not the one being targeted for their comments about bashing.
  18. Gonna be hard to find any better than Matt Burns.
  19. Are you saying Alex White left the team? Did he leave Purdue entirely? That would be unfortunate.
  20. Look to the left. Give a "wahoo" for a cool point.
  21. Great to hear such positive comments from a competing team's coach. Well done, Coach Lapadat! And I agree that they are kids of unusually solid character. Purdue made a great choice.
