I agree Y2! I like to look in the corner and see at least a pair of slacks and a nice shirt.Ties are not required,that would be a personal choice.But some of the coaches with their sweat pants tee shirts,sweat shirts,long sleeve pajamma tops,etc. along with a hat just does not look good to the casual fan the sport is trying to sway. Thanks to the coaches who do dress respectfully!!

My opinion has always been it is a "no win" situation for the boy wrestler when he is forced to wrestle a girl. If you have raised your young man to properly repect the female gender and give preferential treatment to the fairer sex then you understand why it is hard for a boy to wrestle a girl! They just can't win! if they beat her up they feel bad---or they should---and if they would happen to lose they get totally ridiculed. Holy Cow! do you ever remember wrestling around with a girl just for fun as a young boy and how ackwared that was?? My grandson Joe Kieffer wrestled a girl at team regional and it was painful to watch and I was embarrased for him.If that girl would have been a boy with similiar talent he would have been pinned in the first 20 secs. It is very hard to give a hard crossface or grab a high crotch with a half nelson on a young lady. I don't care if they put their hair up and wear sports bras or whatever! You could just almost see Joe trying to figure out how to take her down without hurting her and how to end the match without having to lay on her or come in contact with her private parts. It is just different,as it was he teched her and thankfully it ended . Girls need to wrestle other girls.Period.

I do notice a vast difference when I watch the college wrestling on tv. I wonder what the high school refs are paid and what is the difference in requirements to be a ref in high school as opposed to college?

Joe was ranked #11 and his opponnent was unranked.Joe took him down with the scored tied at 5 with only 18 seconds left in the match.The referee scoring the match saw a reversal and a nearfall after official time had expired. The official in charge of the time added 5 seconds to the match without informing the coaches or the wrestlers.When the clock read 0:00 it should have been over period. The official is a lying,egotiscal fathead who should not be allowed to continue officiating. He told Mr. Kieffer that he had informed the coaches of the added time.The coaches said they had no idea what he was talking about.He lied!! We always have taught our kids to never leave the outcome of a game or match to the officials if you can control the issue yourself because officials make mistakes.They always have and they always will that is why the pros have instant replay. But for an official to make such an obvious and grevious error and then lie about it is inexcusable.He should be punsihed in some fashion. Thank God we live in America and I am entitled to my opinion.Thanks to the board and the forum you provide.

Take a longer look at this---Kieffer comes back the next week to beat Bevins 5-3 when Yorktown meets Roncalli at Team State and his younger bro Joe Kieffer takes Jackson to OT and loses a tough match in OT. Brandon Wright had a loss last year to Kieffer.Raley had a loss last year to Kieffer. Raley had a montrous tourney at the Super 32 and Justin pinned him at Connersville. I'm not saying Jackson is not a monster but I don't see how you can elevate him over both Ethan and/or Justin.I think Justin deserves the #1 even though he doesn't want the bullseye on his back.At least for this week! I appreciate all your hard work on the rankings they are fun to preview each week.Thanks for your work.

This topic has been discussed in the past. It seems like there are some coaches and individuals on this forum that have rationalized a reason to not have their wrestlers approach the opposing coach and offer their hand in friendship and respect. Come on now---if more than 99% of the teams do this why do you want to try and change a neat and useful tradition??are we not still trying to help these young men grow and mature?? Why don't all the coaches try to organize and control this sport a little better.For instance many teams wear matching warmups and they have their teams organized on the bench and some teams rise to greet their wrestlers after a match--win or lose.I like this--it shows some team unity and mutual repect for what these boys do to compete on the mat and participate in this grueling sport! I wish this was more common. Also, after years of participation way back in high school and recently following my grandsons I can say that the sport is still great and I love it!However, I do feel like the tournaments and matches could be better presented to the viewing public in order to try and gain more fans.The printed programs, if available, could present more information,the annoucements could be done better so that people could hear and understand,and the results posted and given more often.Maybe even some special recognition of ranked wrestlers.Or a heads up that there is a potential match between 2 ranked wrestlers---something of that nature.
