  1. Roach weighed in at #145 so cannot bump up to #160. He will not be allowed to wrestle today! How can CP coaches make such a mistake?
  2. WOW CP bumps Roach up to 160 to wrestle Sims.
  3. Bellmont has to pin the last 3 to win.
  4. MD 21-14 with T-shirts wrestling Roach next
  5. Listening online at wzbd.com announcers following Bellmont but giving updates on others. Bellmont 10 Penn 29 140, 52, 60 & 71 left
  6. John Friedt and the 88 wrestlers who placed by wrestling with or being coached by him.
  7. 0 champs for FW. SS. wow no question which SS is the weakest
  8. That stinks because it is streaming fine for me.
  9. http://www.decaturdailydemocrat.com/content/hop-s-heresy-john-friedt-s-fingerprints-all-over-bellmont-wrestling
  10. I could be wrong but wasn't there someone who won state his junior year, signed to play football at a D-1 school and they didn't want him to wrestle his senior year?
  11. Is there anyone who's wife, girlfriend, mom etc. does any kind of scrapbooking stuff? Reading all of these memories of John I think it would a real treasure if someone could collect them into a nice booklet from the Indiana wrestling community and give to the family. I am in tears reading all the tributes to this man and his legacy.
  12. So if I really enjoy volleyball could I play on the girls team since there is no guys volleyball in our area? I think this sexist thing only works one way. On another note I have no problem with a young man keeping his principles above a state title.
  13. This is a big loss for Mary and the family, but also the entire Bellmont wrestling community past and present. John's work with the young people in the wrestling room far outlives himself. Braves grieve your loss but keep it together and show up strong this weekend. John would not have wanted it any other way!
  14. Without a doubt Raley has a Title and a runner-up. I was just trying to point out that Jackson is not going to roll over for Raley or the other way around.
  15. Where I lived in Florida the graduation rate was one of the lowest in the state. The teen pregancy rate was the highest in the state. Their basketball team was just on ESPN the other day because of a player shoving a ref. I knew of many parents who chose to homeschool yet their kids played sports. The coaches were grateful for the influence of those who had different standards of what was in this subpar school system. I am glad that the home schooled kids were allowed to be a part of athletics, band, and drama. If we stilled lived their we would have been home schooling and if the kids wanted to playing sports. I personally (my opinion only) think it is a good rule and hope it passes in Indiana.
  16. I say the Coaches association forms a committee. All coaches must e-maila picture of what they are planning on wearing for coaching and get it approved.
  17. So what is the big deal as someone has stated we already have a homeschooled state champ. There has been a standard set let them wrestle, play in the band, or cheer.
  18. There are several out there I can't find the ones my wife and I looked at when we lived in a subpar school district. Below is a link and some excerpts from a CBS report. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3955/is_200410/ai_n9443747/pg_4/?tag=content;col1 Many studies have been completed during the past 20 years that examine the academic achievement of the homeeducated (Ray, 2004b). Dozens of researchers have executed these studies. Examples of these studies ranged from a multiyear study in Washington state, three nationwide studies across the United States, and a nationwide study in Canada (Ray, 1994, 1997, 2001c; Rudner, 1999; Wartes, 1991). In study after study, the homeschooled scored, on average, at the 65th to 80th percentile on standardized academic achievement tests in the United States and Canada, compared to the public school average of the 50th percentile. how home-schooled students at their institution compared to their general student population in terms of academic success. About nine percent said "far more academically successful," 22 percent reported "somewhat more academically successful," 38 percent said "academically about average," zero percent reported "somewhat less academically successful," zero percent said "far less academically successful," and 31 percent said "don't know."
  19. Jackson took T-shirts into O.T in the finals last year. I would say that is a pretty impressive resume.
  20. I didn't write what I wanted I meant GPA's in college is where they are doing far better on average that public schools.
  21. I would challenge you to read reports of the average GPA's of homeschooled kids oppossed to public school. I hate to tell you that they are doing far better than public school kids. Other States already have this law and seems to work well. I was in Florida and several kids where we lived did this and the rules of transfering applied to them. The yhad to play in the area they lived...and actually it was better regulated than what the IHSAA is presently doing.
  22. We have discussed on this board many times that high school athletics exist for what they teach the young person. Why would we deny this experience to home schooled kids. Their parents pay the same taxes as anyone else.
  23. Why don't you throw your choices out for us to see them, if you have them all sorted out.
  24. Florida has this law and it looks like it worked pretty well for Tim Tebow and the high school he played for.
