  1. Dude, back in ('95?) James Leavell vs David Maldanado was far more hyped than Red vs Lee. Rematch of previous state finals where both guys came in undefeated. MSA was rockin'.
  2. Won't be able to fly in for the finals for the first time in years due to a prior engagement I can't move. What are my options for watching online? -- Will I be able to watch the faceoff before the finals online? Also, are the matches only shown via streaming or can I find them online after the event. Thanks in advance.
  3. Will Hill (171)- Lawrence Central '95 over Dan Pleak
  4. MOGILLIS- Um, James Brimm, Eville Central. I'm sure there are many others. (btw, Brimm was also a freestlye dynamo and ended up getting 3rd again as a Junior and didn't win it until his last year so you never know. He also might have gotten 4th his freshman year but you get my point.)
  5. Harvey wrestled an excellent match. He knows his strengths and weaknesses and played into them intelligently. I heard folks in the stands saying Harvey didn't "deserve to win" because he didn't go out and shoot blindly. Ridiculous! Wrestling is more than just banging... The idea that a 270+ 2nd year wreslter should just fire away like he's 119 lbs is absurd. Honestly, his style reminds me of some of the best freestyle wrestlers in the world who don't just go and try and bash someone's brains in for an entire match. They keep good position, keep the score close and jump on an opportunity when it arises.
  6. Price has to be in the conversation. Great grades, attitude and behavior. Haven't had an IPS placer since the Manual program was strong years ago.

  8. I am a fan and want this kid to win as much as anyone (go Indy wrestlers!) but c'mon... he's a 14/15 year old under the lights for the 1st time. You guys are acting like is the biggest lock ever. Can he win it - of course he could. Is it a sure thing? No way...
  9. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/highschool/news/story?id=6131909 Wow... very interesting and relevant given Indiana's recent SS qualifiers. Moderator - pls move if in wrong forum / already posted.
  10. I like Price - I root for all the IPS kids who make it downtown. Everything I read alludes to him being a heck of a guy. I actually saw him wrestle for the first time at City this year when he was up at 119. I would have liked to have seen more offense as he didn't really engage but he was solid in beating a state qualifier at a weight above where he is now...
  11. What is the bill. We've already had a home schooled state champ
  12. I'd be wiling to wager a quarter that at least 5 of these "#1"'s don't win.
  13. Went to more than a dozen in a row but took a break to attend college, grad school and start my career out of state but this is my second year flying in from the East Coast to catch the finals. Wouldn't miss it! Memories- 91, Jay Manson - The last state champ from IPS... 92, LN 4 Champs 96 - watching my friend and teammate win it all
  14. Haven't these guys already wrestled before? Maybe I'm dating myself but back in my day these guys would have locked up in Freestyle and/or at Team Indiana practices and such a number of times. I know Sliga is younger but I can't imagine that he hasn't run into the other top-tier guys his size previously. I'd presume the same should be true for Welch/Willis, Jasckson/Kieffer/Raley, etc. I know freestyle isn't a 100% accurate predictor but head to head comp is usually a clue...
