  1. When do the brackets or seeds come out?
  2. Didn't Angel win as a sophomore?
  3. Reitz from Griffith should be a contender.
  4. According to these rankings it should make for some interesting matches this year. There are some talented Freshmen getting recognition. I can not wait for the matches to get underway. I know these are preseason rankings and wrestlers can be placed in the wrong estimated weights. This could be a crazy year without too many clear cut favorites.
  5. Hobart was notified don't know what happened there
  6. Move it to Hobart High School or Calumet. I think there has been some changes at the Calumet tournaments though they are not run as fluidly this year.
  7. Gelen will earn his credit on the mat unlike all the credit that sliga gets on this board the last few years. You would think Sliga would be a 3xer going for his fourth according to the comment on this board.
  8. If this is correct that would mean that half of the state qualifiers from the merrillville semistate placed. That is pretty good I would guess because only 4 can place in each weight class. Correct me if I am wrong. Not a math major.
  9. 106- Garza 113- Torres 120- Garcia 126- Logsdon 132- Torres 138- Vasquez 145- Armstrong 152- Roach 160- Maldonado 170- Steveson 182- Rodriguez 195- Medley 220- Robinson 285- Streck
  10. How about East Chicago? Have not been there in a while but I thought they had bleachers all the way around the top section. Just a thought.
  11. I do believe that Padilla lost at sectionals. Not taking anything away from him. I think that this match will be close. I hope this match-up will be close. I think Merrillville will pull out the upset 26-24. JMO Will there be a broadcast of the team regional?
  12. 106- boston 113- Brooks 120- Garcia 126-Ayersman 132- Forte 138- Hartman 145- Manspeaker 152- Hughes 160- Sopko 170-Quiroz 182- Adams 195- Berry 220- Nickson 285- Maggert
  13. Alex was a technician and controlled his matches from the start. Jason is more patient and calm in demeanor(sp?). They are both real good at what they do. I do also feel that Jason will learn from Alex and will have a more successful college career. Nothing against Alex. I had a chance to see Lance wrestle and Alex and I think that Alex was a better wrestler. My opinion not to take anything away from Lance he was great also.
  14. Looks like an honest mistake. Why blow it out of proportion. He or somebody within Penn program made a mistake. Not the first program to go through it and maybe not the last. Let's not put coach Harper or the Penn program down. Lets move on.
  15. Merrillville 103- Josh Fuqua (1) 112- Colton Saroff (2) 119- Anthony McHugh (2) 125- Tyler Chapple (2) 130- Patrick Manning (2) 135- Luis Acuna (3) 140- Devann Biddle (4) 145- Javier Avalos (2) 152- Kelly Kolat (2) 160- Dusty Schurg (2) 171- Mike Manning (3) 189- Kourtney Berry (1) 215- Gelen Robinson (3) 285- Damon Howe (3)
  16. Is the Portage going to be postponed until Monday? There is no school tomorrow.
  17. 1. Lake Central 2. Culver Academies 3. Connersville 4. Center Grove 5. Mishawaka
  18. I would also like to commend Coach Poynter for seeing a picture of the future. I believe his biggest obstacle is at the middle school level where basketball takes a lot of the boys'. I know that it sounds bad, but if there were cuts from the basketball team some of those boys would go to wrestling. They might find there calling in wrestling. Until the mindset changes at the school because it is the feeling that everbody should have a chance to be on the basketball team because it will hurt them as a person. Well that is a little short sighted. As long as they keep this mindset at the middle school the wrestling program is going to suffer. That is my two cents and again I would like to commend Coach Poynter. I hope that things change so that the kids have a better opportunity at becoming better young people and your vision will come to be reality.
