  1. I did provide "human intervention" by changing the birth date range so your wrestler will fall within that range. Ten people have emailed concerning a problem and four were due to the birth date range. The others were merely user error or a local internet problem. If you tried again after I reset the birth date then about the only advice I have is to continue to try.
  2. All information and rules can be accessed through www.newcastlewrestling.com Click on the big link where it says IHSWCA Middle School State. The information on trackwrestling also indicates that you can find this information in this location as well. Please read it thoroughly.

  4. I have seen several two piece uniforms that are illegal this year, but the IHSAA does not seem to care about it.
  5. I am sorry to hear this news Kyle. You, and your family, will be in my prayers. Your Dad was a great guy and a fellow Boiler. Boiler Up Tim!!!
  6. Thanks for serving Tyson. You did a great job! Rex Peckinpaugh
  7. I never got one. I may not be on the list. Rex
  8. You also might call the NWCA. Also, if you decide to just buy outside before each round I would give you a really good deal on two for Thursday as I cannot go until Friday. Rex rpeckinp@ncweb.me
  9. Good one....I think if Brayton wrestled for me I would suddenly be a much better coach.
  10. We had pretty much the same thing happen at our Sectional this year.
  11. At ISWA State Events you will need to be Copper Certified (or above) and have a USAW Coaches Card whic h requires a background check.
  12. We did not require a background check last weekend because most (if not all) of the people coaching individual wrestlers were either parents (do they need a background check to coach their own kid??) or Middle School coaches who have been background checked by their school's prior to employment. In terms of ISWA State events I would assume to pool of coaches might not be as vetted.
  13. This is a classless way to do business on the part of the IHSAA. That is about as simple as I can put it and not be in danger of being banned from this site.
  14. Chesterton actually has 77 points (figured based on one wrestler scoring per weight class.), but when entered as Chesterton WC it leads one to believe that more than one school is represented.
  15. These scores are based on placement points with only one wrestler from each school being allowed to score points for their team. No Academies are listed becasue the team competition aspect of this tournament is only for Middle Schools. If a Team had "Wrestling Club" or "Academy" after their name then I ruled them out because that seems to indicate that all of their wrestlers are not from the same Middle School. If I am wrong please have someone in authority from that team contact me. The order and scores for the top six teams are as follows: 1. JYMS Middle School (Mishawaka) 81 2. Franklin Community MS 65 3. Bellmont MS 49 4. South Dearborn MS 47 5. Carrol MS 46 6. Western MS 41 I do want to acknowledge the great job that is being done by several wrestling academies. There were some impressive performances.
  16. It is not really about the money. We have gotten to the point where the tournament runs fairly smoothly, but it is ponderous. We have simply not changed due to the fact there has not been much impetus for change. I can tell you this...I would love to see us have qualifiers and end up with brackets of 16. I would love to be able to walk out the doors with clean-up complete at 5pm or 6pm. I think you would need three (3) qualifiers. One more north, one more south, and one in central Indiana. The idea of just a north and south qualifier leaves our biggest number of wrestlers in this tournament (central Indiana) traveling to a site that should be well north or well south. Three qualifiers with the top six from each advancing would work well because not all six would probably come to the State. Four qualifiers (qualifying top four) is probably too many because the numbers at the tournament might not be substantial enough for the host school to pay the "bills". If we made the qualifier a ten dollar ($10) entry fee though maybe that would draw a few more people at the first level and make it more viable. We would also need to find schools that could host the event on the Sunday after IHSAA Sectionals and have a make-up date the Sunday after IHSAA Regionals. If you would be interested in hosting a qualifier for Middle School State let me know. I plan to meet with the Officers and discuss this at (or before) the Spring Clinic.
  17. I give you the prize for being first to mention Coach Klingensmith and Jay County. In the 80's they were so dangerous with all kinds of cradles. If you could beat the cradle you could beat them, but boy was it tough to do. You were on the edge of your chair for the whole match. Another team that was really good with cradles from all positions was Fred Ginther's Muncie North teams of the mid 70's. They could hit them from anywhere.
  18. Your question about the Super 8 is a good one. I think, by my definition, it should be five points which would put my hypothetically team over the limit. The Al Smith, and tournament like it, would be 5 points as well....I am not sure if Mooresville is a two day event. Certainly there needs to be some tweeking to this idea. Another idea would be for them to simply set a number...say 30 points with each scheduled match counting as a point. When I say scheduled match I mean that if you have a Conference Tournament with eight teams and wrestlebacks it would count as 3 points because if you win it you will wrestle three times. You may get a few more matches over the course of the season due to wrestlebacks, but counting the points against the number of matches it takes to win the event means less trying to figure it all out. If it is a super 6 it is five points..if it is a sixteen team individual tournament it is four and so on........this is pretty simple.
  19. Good idea. This was the way Sectionals were ran for years (pre 1975 or 76) and they worked pretty well. You could either eliminate a week off the end of the schedule and give teams a chance to stretch their schedules out a bit, or take a week off the beginning. If they limts match numbers I like taking a week off the beginning.
  20. Pretty simple fix for match numbers.....18 points (what we have now) 1 point for a Dual, 2 points for any one day of multiple match competition if three (3), or less, matches are scheduled/wrestled during the day (this exempts an extra match a person may wrestle due to wrestlbacks in a Conference tournament), and 3 points for any one day of multiple match competition if four (4), or more matches are wrestled in the total event. This year we wrestled: (points if you use the above suggestion) 4 Dual Meets = 4 points (4) 5 Super Six Events = 10 points (15) 1 Super Eight Event (2 day) = 2 points (6) 1 8 Team Individual Tournament = 2 points (2) For a total of the "legal" 18 points. If you use the suggested points it becomes 27 points This might be a possible schedule to meet the suggested requirements 4 Dual Meets = 4 points 4 Triple Duals = 8 points 1 Super Eight (or holiday tournament) = 4 points 1 8 Team Individual tournaent = 2 points Under the above the total is 18 points Wiith this an individual would be somewhere in the 25-30 match range going into sectional.
  21. If they put the restrictions on match numbers they are talking about then the number of JV Tournaments will probably increase due to the fact that there will be a few more open dates.
