 Pleak Was state champ then  Pleak lost in the finalsb his senior year..Nc 4th placer Jayson madden Hit Pleak with the nastiest left handed head lock then Pleak Fought it off only to stand up and get hit with Maddens right handed headlock and pinned, madden had one of the tightest headlocks to the point it out you to sleep similar to a Head and Arm choke in BJJ...

Those names dont sound familiar but details have gotten fuzzy over the years.

I finished my junior year with a 17-19 record getting knocked out first round of regionals, that was when my coach came up to me and told me to go to as many RTC practices as  possible on the offseason and lif lift! Following year I went 37-7.
Besides of off season training, what else is essential for producing a state level contender?

Decatur Centrals - Leavell Brothers

A couple from Lake Central...Gelen Robinson and James Torres. Gelen was such an animal and would throw it all on line every match. Funny story about James Torres, my dad coached him and James was starring in the stands and my dad asked him what he was starring at and James replied with "Coach Ayersman, do you see that girl up there?". Some guys could be like James Torres whether other guys would be super tight and were only focused on the match.

Jim Ledbetter is the best! Amazing coach, role model, educator, father figure, human being, etc. He has impacted so many peoples lives on and off the mat. I was lucky enough to have him as a coach 6th-12th grade. MTXE

Ah, thanks! I remember Brimm also running into Dan Pleak from Cathedral! That guy was underrated and should be more talk about him and Pat Cassidy on here!

Frosh/sophmore state it's 27-28th Southport

I remember a Portage Lawrence North match I think. Mid 2000’s. Feels like maybe 145. Portage was down maybe 4 or 5 with less than 10 seconds to go. Lat drop to send it to OT. Names escape me now. Maybe Biddle?

Koontz wrestled Drew Hughes in that QF. Hughes got an early lead and Koontz battled back and almost got two NF to tie in the third. Hughes won 7-5. They were ranked 1 & 2 that year.
 
I think Forte beat Kemper in the finals that year.

Campbell-Petrov is the reason my daughter wrestles. Her first experience beyond a tv screen with the sport, and she sat with Brendens family and got to know them. She bawled her eyes out when he lost. 
 
Ayersman-Campbell from 2011 finals was pretty amazing too. 

Oh man...how could I forget Vernon. He was another one that was in our group that battled. It seemed like every Saturday we would all be in or around the same weight class. Good times.

Antione Neal- Lawrence North, class of 1996.  One of the slickest wrestlers I've watched.  Had wins over most the people that placed in state that year including 2 time state champ from Bellmont TJ Hays.

I may have a large at home and could get it to you either at the Bank or at southport this weekend. Throw me some banana's  and we will call it square lol
