  1. I think Frazier too athletic and technical for Macke.. That's where Macke won, was by always in great position, fundamentally sound ever where but wasn't the quickest or strongest.. It was the guys that could blend superior speed and match his technical prowess... Also we need to take into account that the sport has evolved, you didn't see the Funk we see today back then, it just was getting started, but the funk rolls, variations of leg passes, shin whizzers, TD Def in general, being more common for athletes attacking both sides of the body (Big guys have gotten way better in this area Allred,Parris etc)and overall pedigree of the sport has grown IMHO.. It was those EMD teams that trained year round like RTC and academies do today that had the ahead of the learning curve in the state... It speaks to their Rich roots that they are still talked about to this day with the current record breaking teams of today that are ranked nationally... Macke will always be one of the best to win it along with my best friend and team mate from that era and their very similar in their Skillset and even same weight with Angel in 03... Jaggers (210-11)also had trouble with faster guys that could negate his technical advantages and advantageous positions.. Jaggers was phenomenal out of the tie and could snap your head through the mat, ankle pick you, butt duck your face into the mat also and rarely wrestled also where unless forced.. But in space vs Angel like Macke , the speed and not being able to tie up the faster guys is when they were beaten rarely...After Jaggers beat Early for FS state title, Early realized Every Takedown he given up vs Jaggers what when he had tied up with Jaggers wrestling Jaggers match losing 16-8.. Like all great wrestlers do, he made adjustments not excuses, (Just like Macke did between his first match with Angel)when they rematched at HS state qtr finals next season, every time Matt reached to tie up (giving up his head hands/ D), Gralan level changed and hit blast doubles and whatever else he wanted to avenging his loss with the identical score 16-8... I'll take Frazier 3-1 over Macke late TD
  2. The fans are the winners!!! As a casualty to Mauer at team state vs the team you speak of, that EMD team was unreal but CP is every bit as good IMHO..CP too has that EMD Magic ppl speak of in regards to pulling out close matches and not giving up pins.. That's a trait every great team has but these 2 teams are Apex predators among other Apex predators... BrownsBurg is one best teams I've ever seen also.. Unreal comp and this is the reason our state is evolving as a whole, great comp breeds success state wide.
  3. O'Brien being a 3xer, Carroll vs Jake would've been fun to watch!
  4. It happens at this level, Krejsa looked great, we'll be back.
  5. Thanks so much for the info fellas just got my IHSAA.tv package.. Can't wait watch these studs put on for their cities.
  6. With flo buying Track wrestling are we forced to buy a years membership? I'm not a fan at all of Flo and won't be strong armed into a year account.
  7. He was one of my favorites this weekend that final last minute of the 3rd-ot was I'll be rooting for him this weekend, young man never quits and has a solid has tank especially for aa Big fella!!
  8. Off topic but fun fact.. My boy Tim Bradley's protoge Ethan Railey won Super32 and didn't even win one his titles that season iirc.
  9. This tournament isn't no joke it's home to instant classics with Carson vs Alred year 1 semis Si Silas stormed bk and scored 4 points in last 10 seconds to win it in a wild scramble.. Thrine won it last year vs 20' State qualifer and now 2xSq current Fwss 138 champ Cam Clark... Thrine placed 4th the year before and glithero placerd 7th in the that bracket he is a Savage if it tells you anything with Ruhlman winning the title. Many IHSAA state champs /planers have won frosh/sophmore state titles since it's inception... Southport hosts the state finals and it's been A1 from day 1 coach Skinner and company always kill it! Became one of my favorite tournaments to go to, so much talent and quality wrestling...
  10. Matthew Hasbrook won it iirc. He was a state champ though.
  11. And taking a match vs Cannon on a hurt leg also.
  12. We can use the youth club they just made it's awesome, made in a old church with 8 mats..def be in touch in DM
  13. Lol this off season we 100% getting together for some work.
  14. Tell him I said, I tried putting money on his books but he didn't have me on the visitation list
  15. He only lusts over FW, Love Is a strong strong word buddy.
  16. Once my mullet walked in(yes the mullet actually got a seat before I even got a ticket) they knew all hope on upholding the rules was a ice skating up hill battle and waved the white flag cuz nothing s COOLER than mullet that made it through the ticket round in tact attached to old cubby coach or studs actually competing, js. Hell I seen so many sweet mullets, besides my own Louisiana Love Locks(need to trademark that one)... Carmel's HW iirc had a sweet curly Indiana neck bandana (another TM needed( IMHO There's othing better than hearing the numerous folks say "Did you see the guy on that mullet?" Or something like that lol
  17. I went up to UC coach after your bros first round win and mistook him for you he pointed up and says"Nope he's up there"
  18. Np, I want everybody in the sport to succeed, fire many reasons and am a fan of the sport first and foremost and root all kids on to be great competitors and even more importantly Great human beings.. Plus the better quality comp across the state will in turn elevate the bar for my own wrestlers! I want the best comp possible for not only my ppl but all young men/women and imho that is the only way for our sport to evolve state/nation wide... And can and will always appreciate the hard work it takes for teams/programs like Rochester to be successful from the youth level on up... Seeing a small school should motivate Everybody to put their nose down and grind and focus on getting better every day.. Congrats and best of luck this weekend with your studs coach.
