  1. If I’m reading it correctly placers refers to the total number of wrestlers that placed from that Semi-State. While schools with placers refers to the number of different schools from that Semi-State who had at least one wrestler place at State.
  2. Clearly the final pick didn’t work out, but genuinely want to know how things worked out for your pick. Hopefully still a decent result.
  3. Honestly I’d agree Jr.’s celebrating wasn’t super over the top for winning. 4x. Maybe emotional, but I can let it go with how the moment played out. Chad Jr. has that extra swagger about him, so if he want to show it after a title so be it. I’m not sure how any over the top actions played out in any prior matches. However, you could say Sr.’s actions could be perceived as a little more than necessary for a coach in that moment, especially considering it was a Lee who was out injured almost the entire season.
  4. That years Coughlin, Weinzapfel, and Nosko are worth considering as competitive matches along with Maurer. Macke is to far behind based on the competition. I’ll credit Coughlin with being a stud in progress if we are just going by that season.
  5. I feel he needs to go around the state and promote how wrestling can help with football.
  6. Wow. No reason for this much does a lob-sided result. And I may have considered it until the Mauer one. But you get a 10 out for 10 for trolling.
  7. IHSAA doesn’t want schools to travel too far, miss too much school, or spend craft. money to much to compete nationally. They believe their are enough good teams within the 300mile radius to not need to go beyond that. And yes there are plenty of great teams within that distance to compete against. However, the IHSAA never took into account individual events where some teams that enter may travel from beyond that distance. I can live with a 300 mile limit for IN teams, but not when it’s enforced on other none IN teams. It shouldn’t matter to IHSAA how far a out of state team has to travel to face a IN team. If they want to make that sacrifice it’s on them and since their travel doesn’t affect our athletes it shouldn’t be an issue.
  8. Also what is several of the IN region kids that attend IL schools (mostly Mt Carmel) stayed in state. They would likely end up resulting a couple more CP state placement caliber kids.
  9. It’s only unofficial only because the IHSAA refused to keep any type of score during the team tournament era. It’s not like it’s a made up result just to give a undeserving team a boost. We all know we all know they don’t make the best wrestling decisions. are you honestly saying EMD didn’t have the individual state tournament success they had that year. If so I’ve got some QAnon websites to put you on. I’m all for giving credit where it is due, but at the same time don’t discredit one of the best team the state has ever seen just because of a IHSAA decision to not count a legit result.
  10. Conway seems to find just enough reaction to hold Law off. Great semi-finals and finals for both of them. It was a pleasure to watch them both over the last few years. Best of luck to both at the college level.
  11. Nice to see Carroll show some respect to a partner he’s worked with over the past season.
  12. I’m a couple weight classes away from locking my picks in. I like to see some head to head and common opponent results before making a educated decision.
  13. Is Carroll now joining to the man-child (beast mode) status of Paris, Chalfaunt, and Radnovich? For IN fan sake let’s hope he doesn’t joint the Penn RTC a year early.
  14. Maybe, but I do agree some of these early teams deserve some respect for their talent and furthering the sport in Indiana. Joe has done a good job with some of the bracket information, but one of these days some of us with the historical information needs to compile the early era accounts of the tournament series so it’s preserved in the digital eras. But again it’s just not fair to compare their era to the advancements our state has had over the years.
  15. We rarely have two bonafide national caliber studs in the same year. Such a privilege to see both of them through their career. Much respect to Seltzer for laying his senior record on the line by facing Mendez at team state.
  16. If your going back that far people will definitely be throwing out the “different era” card. Several teams back in that era could make soem big claims. Looks at all the Bloomington guys that went on to help IU back when they were a high level Big10 team. Similar to a few 80s Delta teams when the advancement was also different than now. Completely different advancement system back then but also not quite as many schools or level of competition as we see today. I’d be hard pressed to compare any teams or individuals there aren’t at least within a 20 year window.
  17. Mizzu jumping out of the MAC and into the Big12 for wrestling definitely increases the competition and exposure.
  18. I’m guessing we all can agree a OT would have been better than a 1 point penalty decision. If it was a full nelson or a locked hand that would have made it occur.
  19. That jump up past 106/113 is always a big adjustment for even the top guys. We will see if he can make it as he grows some.
  20. So I’m guessing that answers my above question then.
  21. Is Levell related to the Levell family that was wrecking people in the 90s on the Decatur side of Indy.
  22. 2003 was the same bracket setup as it is today with those losing the quarter-final in a mini-bracket to determine 7/8 and 5/6.
  23. Or at least have some type of shoe covering if those are the shoes you walked around the arena with. But honestly all the wrestlers would benefit from having their shoes cleaned prior to getting on the mat. I suspect most of the skin infections are tracked in from the locker rooms and hallways.
