  1. I'd say Phillips just missed the cut because of inactivity during the off season.
  2. Micic's post finals interview from Fargo give some more insight into his name and family background.
  3. Seem this would have served it's purpose better if completed last year when changes were still being discussed. We have heard about the possible changes for two seasons now, so a petition after the fact seems a little to late.
  4. If we are going down this road you may as well hear the story as presented by the friends and family of Jordan. It's doesn't attempt to sugarcoat much. http://www.freejordan.org/ and his comeback story after his release http://win-magazine.net/Archives/v16%20archives/v16i10%20stuff/kylecolumn.html
  5. Good start, but it seemed to be a tune up tournament at best. The Worlds will be a true indicator of how close he is to another possible Olympic win.
  6. Most of those numbers seem relatively close. To answer the original question Merriville and New Castle have the most potential for finalist if we go off last years state final or placer numbers. Merriville has a distinct advantage in the area of total wrestlers with state experience too. Evansville looks like they may take a slight hit this year due to a senior heavy group last state finals.
  7. Counting up the returning state places and what semi-state they come from may help in providing a solid educated guess to this one.
  8. He is still taking information and updating his actual list. I'm not sure how well the website has been keep up on though.
  9. If that example is Mark Hall it's not a strong one cosidering he is a 14 or 15 year old 7th grader. That makes him of freshman age where as a regular 7th grader turns from 12 to 13. And not your typical wrestling family either. Along with moving from state to state (Mich, OH, KY, and MN) in the last few he was also held back at least once by his parent for what was reported as none grade related reasons. Thus he's not exactly a great case study here. By the way he actually had a chance to be a 7 time state champ but ended up placing second in Kentucky last year during his first 7th grade year.
  10. Coleman will be on ESPN First Take in a few minutes (around 1:15 ET) to talk about his internet sensation move. However, it is worth noting that while he has score 3 on it a few times now the move doesn't always work to perfection. The points have sometimes went to his opponent because his hips got pushed on the way through. Coleman admits the move only works if he hits it perfect and also has the element of surprise, which obviously happened in that match.
  11. Sliga mentioned in one of his post-Fargo win interviews that he would no longer be playing football in order to focus more on wreatling.
  12. Glad to see everything worked out for him after his US Open and Team Trials preformance. Though the consolation rounds of international competiton is kind of a unique system to use in determining a winner between the two. I'm sure he's not satisfied with 5th in a tune up tournament though. Let's hope this is just the beginning of the rise of Reece Humphrey.
  13. I've been hearing they were decently light in talent in the Junior divisions. But, with a performance like that I'd claim we were missing plenty of top guys too.
  14. Well needless to say the Pennsylvania performance at the Junior level was definitely a disappointment considering the numbers they brought and their long history of success. My guess would be they couldn't get all of their top guys on board, just like many other teams including Indiana have trouble doing. I think it is worth noting that great success that Illinois had winning almost every national competition this year. Not sure what their state organization has done lately in youth development and getting top guys to attend the national events, but I think its worth investigating. On the Indiana side of things I felt many of our wrestlers preformed well. Clearly walking away with a good number of All-Americans and a few National Champions is a nice accomplishment. Team wise we were not always near the top of the list, they only score points based on All American placement. Because of that I think its worth giving some credit to the many wrestlers who went deep into the tournament and were just one or two matches from reaching All American status. While those results are not reflected in Indiana's team total they do speak about the talent we have.
  15. Indiana's Junior Freestyle team finished in 11th place.
  16. Jason Tsirtsis wins in 2 periods to become a Junior National Freestyle Champion. Jason Tsirtsis (Indiana) over Jake Short (Minnesota) Dec 1-0,1-0 The ball grab decided the first period. Short is a very well decorated wrestler from a top wrestling family from Minn.
  17. I wasn't aware of Bramer attending West Point. He was a solid wrestler from Southwestern. Congrats to him on the recent graduation.
  18. McKinley get a pin at 1:05 to take 5th place. Didn't get to see the match but if I had my guess the left handed headlock may have came into play.
  19. Brooks lost in 3 periods to take 2nd at 112. Nathan Tomasello (Ohio) over Jarred Brooks (Indiana) Dec 5-1,0-4,4-1 First period was decided by a move that could have been scored different ways. It went to video review and Brook lost. Brooks dominated the 2nd period. Third period was closer but Brooks unsuccessfully tried something near the end to stop a score and it inflated the final score. On the video feed you may have to refresh it multiple times for your computer to recognize it. For some reason this has happened a lot as people try to log in. Once you get the signal it usually works fine.
  20. Just to recap the Juniors: Brooks finals at 112 McKinley going for 5th at 130 Tsirtsis final 140 Finals will start in a few minutes. www.themat.tv will have the live feed. You may have to refresh it several times to pick up the broadcast though.
  21. It's Brooks don't you remember he has a new transfer rumor every year.
  22. 11:00 eastern Junior Final and then they load up to go home.
