  1. I'll likely be voting for someone from The Compound in that discussion.
  2. May have been contracted out from the Foxcatcher Motion picture that he wrote the treatment for, to not be allowed to do any other Foxcatcher related projects for a certain amount of time. Or with all the well publicized issues Mark was having with how the final version of the Foxcatcher Motion Picture portrayed him, he may not have been to interested in being part of another project where he didn't have some control over.
  3. The film reminded me of a Jonestown Documentery (Jim Jones Cult) I've watched before. You are watching the happy home video moment (which are great), but the whole time having have that bad feeling in the pit of your stomach because you know it's all starting to go to hell and you can't do anything to stop it.
  4. Nick Lee 7th Zach Davis 7th Dylan Lydy 8th Former Indiana resident Bobby Steveson 3rd
  5. Former Indiana wrestler Bobby Steveson lost in semi-Finals 4-0 to Zahid Valencia. Nick Lee secures a top 8 placement with his last win. Joe Lee injury defaults out a match before the placement round. Lydy and Davis both battle back in the consols ans will also finish in top 8.
  6. Nick Lee falls 14-4 in Quarter-Finals to Mitch McKee
  7. Micic ended up withdrawing prior to weigh-ins. I'm guessing his world bronze medal from last year will give him entry into the Junior World Trials tournament.
  8. Well right now is just the Western Regional which is occurring at the same location. Later this afternoon will be the first round of UWW Junior Freestyle Open with the rest of hte competition Saturday. You can see the results on trackwrestling or watch it live through FloWrestlings if you have FloPro.
  9. I'm pretty sure with some of these clinicians on board this camp will have an evening hair-styling seminar.
  10. Yes, he is. He was listed under Michigan as his state entry. I just did the quick state of Indiana search, so a few people that list a different state as their "home state" may have been missed.
  11. Those registered with Indiana with connection, so far. (Registration ends tomorrow) Freestlye Men 60 KG / 132.35 lbs. Ben Thornton (College) Men 60 KG / 132.25 lbs Nick Lee (11th) Men 66 KG / 145.5 lbs Joe Lee (10th) Men 66 KG / 145.5 lbs Kyle Todrank (College) Men 74 KG / 163 lbs Dylan Lydy (College) Men 84 KG / 185 lbs Blake Reid (College)
  12. The Scores Table or the Hospitality Table?
  13. . CE had a few bad breaks that were really out of their hands. One being they had several wrestlers make it to the ticket round of semi-state, but ended up drawing the eventual Semi-State Champ or runner-up. Wrestle-backs or a luckier draw definitely would have helped Rooks score for them and I would suspect at least one of other wrestler, as well. The other being the loss of a ranked senior earlier in the year due to injury. He would have made semi-state and had a real possibility of making state.
  14. Oh well I'd just like to go ahead and tell the official where he missed those ten points at. I'm not hyped on CE having to top our guys to get some of the points they will need to make the event next year, but if it has to happen at least I know its at the hands of a tough squad with some stand up guys coaching. CE should be a handful for the next several years.
  15. Congrat's Redman. Nothing like having someone like Lefever to help you train to help prepare you for a college career.
  16. Congrat's Andrew. Great kid with a great work ethic.
  17. Another reason could be its a simple fix to class the team part of those sports since all the competitors can participate at the same time. Whereas, in sports like wrestling and tennis you would have to have separate competitions for each class since its a person vs. person set up. Cross country and swimming they can all compete and then just divide the points up to each class. Sure that can happen somewhat in wrestling too, but the person vs. person aspect may throw off the outcome more than what it does in timed/heat sports. From how its titled I'm guessing this is only for the team aspect and not individual accomplishments. But, for that reason it seems like track and golf could also be added in as well. I'd say the other part is as you stated Carmel winning a lot with Columbus North and a few other schools winning occasionally.
  18. Spencer L. (Junior) and Gavin T. (only a Sophomore) are both big national names and already have several international wins under their belts. If they stay with this commitment to Iowa it looks like Iowa will have some lightweight depth for the foreseeable future. With both being from Pennsylvania many speculated they were almost a lock for Penn State, so this is a big pick up for the Hawkeyes as they look to get back on top of the team race.
  19. I know most of us have seen similar stories before, but its worth a read. Not to mention it is good publicity for our sport. http://espn.go.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/15273815/the-unbelievable-story-high-school-wrestler-zion-shaver
  20. As long as its his decision to focus on football, rather than a coach telling him he has to drop doing everything in the spring for football, then its what he is interested in doing now. Sure you could make him do all the extra wrestling stuff, but then you risk him being upset with you and burned out on wrestling when next season comes. I would say the best you can hope for is he agrees to attend some of the wrestling practices or even a few events on the days when football isn't happening right now.
  21. It would be nice if each section of the state had a last chance qualifier type event near the end of the Freestyle season for those needing one more event (or those just wanting more mat time). Maybe set it up similar to how Penn did a event a few year back where they didn't have brackets, but instead just paired up kids from similar weights and age groups to wrestle each other. After each match the kids just went back to their staging area, found another kids in their age division and close to their weight, got back in line and waited to wrestle again. As long as this is done in a safe way (checking to ensure they kids are from similar age divisions and weight classes) I think it would work out great. I know several people were pleased with how that Penn event went, especially since most walked away with several more matches than they would get at most tournament. Winning the bracket and getting a medal didn't seem to important to most of them compared getting enough matches to make it worth spending msot of the day in the gym. In fact this seems like a event model that would actually encourage more wrestlers to attend freestyle events in general. With the right organization it could possibly be something worth doing at both the start of the season (early mat-time) and the end of the season (a last chance qualifier) in each of area of the state.
  22. But it would sure be great if we (Indiana and NWCA) could find a way to help get it closer to that level of an event. Heck of an athletic showcase for college coaches if some more of the right talent and states were more inclined to make the trip.
  23. A part of that will come down to what other counties still had wrestlers to qualify, as well as, where some of the better wrestlers fall in the randomly drawn brackets. We may be able to qualify a few more at the next qualifier in Mongolia, but I would be very surprised if we get everyone in there. There is one more qualifier after that and hopefully we can get most of the remaining weights in on that one. While I t wouldn't be the first time we weren't able to qualify every weight for the Olympics, it sure would be disappointing for America to not be able to take a full squad. The Russian nationals are not until the end of May so we may not know for sure until after their official deliberate following that event. Tsargush hasnt really considered "their main guy" like he has in the past so I wouldn't be suprised if we see someone new. From what I've seen online Geduev (3rd at Worlds after a loss to JB) and Tsabolov (who JB has beat soundly) have been the two Russians who have placed the most at high level event in the last few years so I'm guessing it would likely be one of them. I don't have a complete background but I'd speculate they maybe leaning more toward Geduev since he has at least keep the match close with JB in the past.
  24. In not sure of the IHSWCA position on the topic, but they wouldn't be the only state association to looking into the pros and cons of the issue. http://www.flowrestling.org/article/40808-multiple-states-considering-shorts-shirt-uniform-change A IHSWCA state association official would likely be able to give more detail on what they hace discussed on the matter. Disclaimer: I posted this only because it relates to other state associations discussing the matter rather than to start a general discussion of the topic. A full discussion maybe better served placed in the High School Forum than here.
