  1. Just a side note, but I believe in your signature quote Y2 the proper usage of the word "there" should be they're. I'm not as smart as RG so maybe he can clarify that for us. It must be that you attended a small school and they don't have the same educational opportunities that the big schools have.
  2. I think the biggest reason these kids becoming multi x state champs is the change to folkstyle wrestling. If you look it's been maybe 10 years or so. The biggest weakness of the underclassmen was mat wrestling. Illinois has been wrestling folkstlye forever. Angel n Alex wrestled over there with folkstyle. That's not the only reason they were successful they did put countless hours everywhere but early exposure to folkstlye prepared them. They clubs help too but it's more the focus on folkstyle.
  3. Well Slosser of munster beat Lopez who beat Ayala so that means that slagle gets the 1 Slosser 2 Lopez 3 and Ayala 4.
  4. Their is no difference between 2 seat and 3 seat. I do not see anywhere in the brackets that someone who should of been a top 3 not. Can you?
  5. The main purpose of a seeding meeting is to get the 2 best kids separated which I don't see any spot where that wasn't done. I predicting at least 10 #1 seeds not seats will be champions.
  6. Ok heres my suggestion and maybe it has been done but lets do it again and reaffirm our stance. Lets provide the people who vote on this with our information and mission. I have copied part of the ihsaa purpose statement below. Lets get them early and give them time to research this as opposed to just voting on it in what is probably a boring and formality based meeting. According to this there are 19 members lets go after them along with our AD's and principals. Im assuming if we can convince half of these for a majority maybe that will be sufficient. Thats only 10 people we really need to convince worst case if it has to be unanimous 19 people we need to convince. The IHSAA is governed by its legislative body, the Board of Directors. Composed of 19 members who are elected by member school principals from three IHSAA legislative districts, the directors serve staggered three-year terms. The Board of Directors meets annually with the responsibility of establishing the Association?s rules and regulations. Within the Board of Directors is the Executive Committee, composed of directors serving the second and third years of their three-year terms. The Executive Committee meets monthly and is responsible for organizing and directing state tournaments and meets, interpreting the Association's By-Laws, determining penalties for rules violations, and establishing the Association's state office and employing a commissioner and staff to administer the Association.
  7. Come on you can't compare tattoos to califlower ear! I heard of discrimination based on race but ears?! Now that's a first! Yes it can't really be 100% fixed but if you catch it early n button it or sandwich it u can make it almost unnoticably. I don't think it's that bad but to say it has a negative effect on your life is insane.
  8. well the main reason for this is because many of these states have had folkstyle for many years! Big tsirtsis esco Howe hump n the rest of those studs were the baby boomers of Indiana folkstlye wrestling. Tsirtsis n esco were wrestling folkstyle in Illinois Years before Indiana started hosting folkstlye. Think about it might not even be the 10th year of kids folkstlye state! Freestle is great but being able to mat wrestle is what makes you a champion.
  9. There is a couple things that bother me about dividing into classes. The first is this would benefit and hinder the bubble teams. It would benefit the team that is on the high end of the cutoff and theoretically make them the BIG school in the division. Also it would make the other side be the small school! So a team with roughly 1200 students would be small compared to the big 3000 schools! Another thing is why would it be fair to divide into team class and not individual? If it is unfair for the small schools in the team competiton then it sure has to be worse for them individually? This so called big schools didn't become good overnight or because they are big. It's taken some of them almost 10+ years to become mainstays at the top.
  10. Yeah let's do this and call them the class A or division 2 state champs! While we are at it let's make that team regional also the team class A champions!
  11. well i was just joking using chuck's name. if you ever seen chuck's avatar u would know it was a joke. besides chuck should know who i am and if not he can ask the moderators because they know who i am.
  12. Fist off let me start by saying i would never ref even if I got paid the big bucks(jk) like these guys do, but my only gripe is the assistant refferee. The whole objective of the assistant is to see be the head refferee's second pair of eyes, even though sometimes they dont have one set themselves. At mville i didn't see one assistant ref call a locking hands or caution, which there were many. Point being, I would like to see the assistant ref be in position to make these calls. They should be watching as soon as a kid is returned to the mat or on a switch and in other situations. Hopefully nobody takes this personal just some constructive criticism from someone who knows litte about wrestling and much less about officiating.
  13. coltfan64 is you were a region guy you would know that the three so called powerhouses werent all powerhouses until recently. for exaple crown point never had a state champion until guess when? umm... Last year! So, so much for them being a producer of state champions. also they havent had a runner until since fatman hawkins in 89! As for merrillville maldenado has only been there since 04 and prior to that they didnt have much there. If you really look at the number of state champs you will see it is pretty much even amongst the region schools with a slight edge to portage. im sure rankingsguy can clear that up but my memory says ec 4, hobart 5 or 6, mville 4 or 5, mish, 5 or 6, portage 6 or 7, lc 4 or 5, griffith 10 and guess what cp 3. Now im not downing cp because they will end with maybe more than anybody just saying last year was the first time with a champion.
  14. Personally I think the draw should have not been released, but the majority of the time the advantage does go to the Regional Champion and you cant default your way to the title.
  15. How is Quiroz ranked ahead of Surma when Surma beat him last year?
  16. SpiderMonkey

    T.U.F.

well I have a real good source thats says kimbo loses to b.c. first, then he does get a chance to come back ,i believe in the semi-finals due to an injury but once again fails to win.
  17. I think shaking the opposing coach's hand after the mat is meaningless. There is too much emotions involved in a wrestling match that tends to carry over after a match. Who really wants to shake someones hand after they lose? NOBODY! Now the thing that does bother me is when a kid offers his hand to a coach to shake and the coach offers a fist pound. Now that seems disrespectful as oppose to a kid not shaking the opposing coach's hand.
  18. The Paleta man and Cookies and Cream!
  19. The real Number 1 is, when the old discussion board goes down, You create a new one!
  20. I've been to quite a few championships and one of my favorites was James Brimm. The o'le towel around the neck like Mike Tyson. Those who remember him will remember that trademark. He dominated all his opponents and I believe teched his championship match. Dj Rad was another that by far was one of the most dominating ever.
  21. Well the answer to that is because Cashe has just as many State titles. Well I guess you are wondering how? Simple. Cashe has the one he won Last year and one he took from Eppert and one he took from Wright, which adds up to Three! See and thats how you determine best p4p wrestler. Harper is proven and will be right there for his 4th title, but remember there are no defending state champions only returning State Champions. In others words, nobody can take your past one(s) away but they can deny you of another.
  22. Well he did walk away with his arm but however lost to an average griffith kid the next round followed by sitting the rest of the tournament out. So I do believe he was just a tad affected by surmantor.
